Bill Hader is SNL's most recent star turn, and boy howdy did he deserve it. The other half of the incredibly solid Wiig/Hader pairing that dominated the last 2000's SNL into this decade, and boy howdy does he deserve every bit of whatever success he ends up with (and I hope it's a lot). Before anyone starts speculating, it's pretty much a sure thing we'll see Stefon. I hope we get to see Djimon Honsou or Chiwetel Ejiofor this time!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYSVMgRr6pw

Hozier is a part of a current wave of blue-eyed soul that I, for one, am completely okay with. Sam Smith turned in a really good performance last season, and I ended up liking the live performance better than the recorded versions. SNL's stage has been pretty bad about swallowing people so far this season, so we'll see if he's the first to escape it this year.

Coming up...

Your guess is as good as mine! So far nobody seems to have gotten advance notice of upcoming hosts.

:pwn: :pwn: :pwn: :pwn: :pwn:

Tonight's vintage, like last week's, was changed at the last minute. Originally scheduled to run was the Alec Baldwin / Paul McCartney episode from 1993, we will now see Alec Baldwin's first time from the 15th season, with musical guest The B52s. And you can probably guess why.

http://snltranscripts.jt.org/89/89r.phtml

Originally aired April 21st 1990, ”The Diner” is a classic scene with Baldwin and Hooks. It's been included in The Women of SNL special, so I'm guessing it might even have been a choice of Hooks herself. Whichever way it works, it's a solid bit. I'm pumped since I've never seen this episode. (As cool as it'd be to see G.E. again, I highly doubt any band shots will make the cut tonight.)

That was neat. Do they do that every week for the vintage airings?

They did last week. Is it from a previous sketch or something?

Also, knowing what Victoria Jackson would become is just sad.

I tried watching the classic episode last week and I don't know why but I couldn't get into it.

I think that 86-90 cast was really underrated, and it's sad to what the surviving castmembers have become.

Who would have thought the most relevant one would be Ben Stiller

I thought Stiller was one of those awful mid 90s seasons. Like when Comedy Central would show repeats, they only showed one episode from that season and it was Jon Travolta and Seal.

Victoria Jackson just is an awful person now it seems.

At what point did Victoria Jackson become a right-wing maniac?

All I know is that she was good friends with Weird Al and a decent castmember, then, a decade later, she was a crackpot.

I think it's just been since the HD switch they've been mixing for DD 5.1 and not doing too great in the stereo downmix.
