the thing is, it's about how easy it is to troll. In newsgroups, you could troll, and nobody could stop you. IRC had OP's that would kick you occasionally, forums had moderators, multiple ones that would put a stop to it quick, video chat rooms were full of perverts, so trolling went by unnoticed a lot of times. Social Media, you can type something, and people COME TO YOU and get trolled, that's why it's so popular. People love being pissed off at something.
