they really don't. i don't know what you idiots do to your cables, but it sure ain't just leaving them on your desk and plugging them in. unless 'yall have homunculus hands or something. i've had two lightning cables for well over a year, they're both fine. no cracks, no fraying, no problems.

nah, my cables just fray right at the corner of the plug before it goes in, all of them do that, including the ones plugged into the back of my work laptop that gets used maybe once a month.

i mean, gee, apple makes you pay $59 for a 3ft lightning cable, i'm sure they don't intentionally engineer them to break super quickly, while the $15 3rd party ones never fray/wear in the same spot.

"normal use" for a lot of people is wrapping the cable around the unit as tight as possible while still plugged in. this is how they get frayed

people treat their detachable cables on they phones like they treat their nintendo controllers

also pulling the cable out by the cable itself instead of the plug

but purhaps we just need to engineer the cables to be as thick as the nintendo controller ones

pro tip: take a close look at your [any apple cable]. see the attractive, sleek rubber sleeve instead of an actual strain relief? that's how an idiot moron designs cables that break. then they charge u $80 for it
