How does that DS game even have the same name? Other than the names of some characters, it doesn't seem to have anything in common with the original at all.

Someone should make the obligatory pokemon reference.

So, IP are 'anger points' and Charred Newts refill IP.

Why do newts make Maxim so angry?

I was slightly confused by this update when you named Camu before the game had done so.

Also, the game teasing you with those top floor chests and then warping you out. :arghfist::mad:

Thinking about it, why did Maxim suddenly start calling him 'Sir Guy'? Does Guy look like a knight or something? Or is it yet another case of badly-translatable Japanese honorifics?

You know, Maxim is an okay dude. I really hope nothing bad happens to him at the end. :ohdear:

Ah, we're talking Final Fantasy IV here. Just before an important boss fight comes up, the main hero suddenly turns all misogynist and tries to get rid of the most useful party members, even though they've proven their worth. At least FFIV subverted it.

Yeah, it's actually fairly well done here since cursed items tend to be better than equivalent level items...unlike most RPG's, where cursed items exist for the sole purpose of sticking it to newbies.

Well, in some RPGs cursed items have better stats than normal ones... there's just no way to permanently uncurse them, you can't ever switch them out outside towns. The way this game handles it is quite cool.

As for a guess to what happened with that 2-switch puzzle that worked with one switch unpressed, what I think happened is that while the thing was pressing in the right button, you were still pressing the left button, making the stairs appear for a split second. As you were already on the stairs tile for that moment, the game transported you to the new room.

If the game's order of operation had been slightly different, this wouldn't have worked.

In Greek mythology, this was prevented by just making the heroes gods themselves and having them live on Olympos.

First the hookshot and now fire arrows. We just keep getting Zelda items.

I never knew about the Multi-Sword but Absorb's pretty awesome. I tended to not need it though, instead using items to restore MP. Barely used any of them too.

It sounds rather useful to be able to stop bosses from using magic altogether.

I like that Drowsy and other spells actually get used out of battle. Well, Drowsy mainly.

There's warp/escape, as well.

It bugs me that they used "kymograph", which is an actual thing, but refers to a method of presenting data rather than to a method of measuring things. Specifically it refers to methods like those used in a seismograph (those things that measure earthquakes and so on) where one of the axes is time. I'm guessing that the device in question is supposed to be some kind of energy-measuring seismograph and they just chose a technobabblish-sounding word to describe it...but it still bugs me :arghfist: :saddowns:

I did not know this word. At least Wikipedia has a picture/video that explains a lot:

Hmm-hmm. Certainly.

Wow. I expected the casino to be like in the earlier pokemon games, just a simple slots game and that's it.

But they fully programmed in both Poker and Blackjack. Impressive. And unexpected for a Nintendo game.

I think that 'unicorn' enermy is supposed to be a narwhal. In medieval times, stories about narwhals were actually intertwined with myths about unicorns. And even to this day, there's people who think narwhals are just a myth.

The dragon balls eggs fly away and you can collect them again? Stop with the Dragon Ball imitation already, game.

By the way, those wishes are quite lackluster for a dragon that can supposedly grant every wish.

Technically, either of the arrows would have worked, but I wanted to burn the rope.
I completely understand. "You have to burn the rope" is a fantastic Flash game and I think there aren't nearly enough LPs of it. It's just a great feeling once you realize what you have to do.

Also, that capsule monster is scary. Never mix electricity and water, kids.

Thanks for LPing this game and finishing it.

I gave this game a try once, the zelda-like puzzles combined with the fact that you aren't constantly bothered by random encounters made this game quite interesting. But I didn't get too far. This might've been related to the fact that the first part of the game is like "go to town --> go to dungeon, beat it --> go back --> receive shrine key --> Go to next little area of map --> repeat" and if the whole game continues like that it'd get boring soon. It's been interesting to see what I missed, and to see that there are a lot of valid complaints about this game, even if it isn't really "bad".

Are you saying the Dragon Eggs go back to chests even after beating the egg dragon? Do they do anything if you collect them yet another time?

Also, what's "Win No against D-egg"? Does it mean the 99th battle you did in total was the battle against the Egg Dragon? No, that doesn't match with the other stats...
