 Last year (that is, yesterday) I bought myself the Bolt Action rulebook. I guess this year I'm going to play it. Just need to settle on two armies to buy.

 Just play Atomic Robo, but rename the modes Fighting-Person, Magic-User, Cleric and Thief. :getin:

I'm actually in an Only War game now, and it's a totally wacky group, but the book itself has a humor to it I never saw in the (post-2e) IG codex.
If you want Guard humor, you could do worse than look up the Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer. It's this tiny soldier's handbook filled with good soldiering advice (this is how you do a column), bad soldiering advice (orks are actually really weedy) and lots and lots of prayers, litanies and overblown pompous regulations.
