anyways, i have tried to create a taxonomy of tumblr craziness
1) trans activist craziness: usually manifests as extreme, nonsensical inclusiveness (i.e. "saying abortions are women's health care is extremely violent and transmisogynistic"), traditional "political correctness" and language policing, making sure to angrily point out if anyone accidentally excludes .000001% of the population
2) race activist craziness: usually manifests as extreme, often xXx2eDgYxXx hatred of whiteness, a complete lack of understanding of the world outside the US, generalizing a particular view/experience of race to the world, and pretending cultural appropriation is actually a thing, often accompanied by calls for segregation
3) feminism craziness: usually manifests as generic "girls rule boys drool" type statements, note: this has little to nothing to do with actual feminist thought and is almost exclusively practiced by bored high schoolers
4) radfem craziness: i decided this needed a separate category because it's a very small but vocal group of the valerie solanas/andrea dworkin "all sex is rape" crowd. not new or unique to tumblr
5) ableism craziness: usually manifests in a "harrison bergeron" view of the world, angrily criticizing any activity deemed insufficiently disability-friendly. if a blind cerebral palsied quadriplegic can't do X then you shouldn't assume anyone can do X, shitlord. also tends to have lots and lots of self diagnosed mental illnesses
6) totally loving batshit: usually manifests as various "kin" types, especially fiction/otakukin, also so-called "multiple systems," past lives, magick users, basically people who really should be committed or at least have a full time health care worker because their level of delusion makes it hard for them to interact with reality
7) tucute craziness: a weird blend of 1) and 6), where people treat gender as a fashion statement, make up new prefixes and suffixes, use inane nounself pronouns, and exaggeratedly defend each other's attention-seeking bullshit. also known as genderspecials, closely tied to the demisexual/AVEN group, tend to be arrogant but terrified of sexuality
8) marxist craziness: often coexisting with 1), usually manifests as a 10th-grade understanding of capitalism/marxism. full of buzzwords and aggressively misinterpreting or misrepresenting history.
9) generic liberal guilt craziness: the most mild but most common, present on gawker, huffpo, cracked and buzzfeed, among others. usually manifests as a refusal to give even the most cursory examination to claims by any of the above groups, reflexively taking the side of any person who claims to be "oppressed" regardless of the validity of their claim, and repeatedly apologizing for their privilege while angrily excoriating fellow privileged people who do not do so.

i know this is Carepost Territory but i really wanted to figure out wtf was going on.

A lot of them probably enjoy watching bad things happening to people they hate. We're hardwired as a species to love watching 'bad' people get punished. These are the same people who made up the lynch mobs in the South.
