1. Sync photos with LR and LRM to creative cloud 2. Get new computer, install lightroom 3. Lightroom creates new blank catalog and syncs over previous catalog, deleting all photos 4. Can't call adobe until tomorrow, but I'm probably hosed anyway

My favorite feature is the warnings that photoshop is going to stop working in 14 days if blah blah despite having an expensive creative cloud account.

the syncing confuses the crap out of me. i have the originals on my computer, and then copy them to their cloud, but i'm so used to dragging and having it copy if it's another drive or ftp, i do that and it moves it instead

I thought the whole point of this cloud poo poo was that I didn't need to worry about this. srs gently caress u adobe why would you overwrite a catalog without any warning

Not something many people do regularly. true, but they shouldn't have used bash in this case. little mistypes can cause disasters such as this. some high level language was plenty capable. either that, or have someone reread every bash command in the code

cloud backups in lightroom aren't for syncing across multiple LR hosts, its only for mobile clients and online review. You're supposed to manually back up originals.

this is why the cloud scares the poo poo out of me. oops, sync bug, we deleted your cloud files and we also synced all of your devices so the files got removed from all of your machines, too.
