LP0 ON FIRE posted:it's not that netflix have been dicks really, net neutrality is just doing away with competition with other services. services that allow netflix will surely win over if it's popular enough to use new rules also allow local governments to setup broadband networks despite state laws crafted w/ the help of the big ISPs that's why they're pissed hth

cremnob posted:because i think ur lying [FCC Commissioner] Pai claimed that an Internet provider could "find itself in the FCC's crosshairs" if it doesn't want to offer unlimited data plans. The FCC's order does not actually ban data caps; instead, the FCC is claiming authority to intervene when companies use data caps to harm competitors or customers. for real crabnob you are dumb as gently caress czech it out here and here and here

Shaggar posted:also make sure you get in touch with your local councilman so you can discus kickbacks and how best to shovel unlimited municipal bonds into your new networking company. public networks aren't companies and are instead called "public services" which tend to have a bit more transparency and accountability than some corporate stockholders' board

cremnob posted:anyone who actually thinks ISPs haven't been doing anything is really dumb. ISPs spend billions of dollars every year which is why municipal broadband is going to be really hilarious. u think ppl are gonna pay more in property taxes in a few years when they try to keep up with private companies in capex spending? lol crabob's dilemma: google as an ISP
