(Lots of this was lovingly stolen from Gravy Train Robber) Let's Play The Lord of the Rings Living Card Game! Released by Fantasy Flight in 2011, the LOTR LCG is part of their line of Living Card Games. There is a standalone box release that includes everything you need to play and enjoy the game, and at various intervals more cards are released through monthly packs or larger deluxe expansions. Nothing is randomised, and you'll receive all the copies of the cards you might need. It's a much cheaper alternative publishing model than, say, Magic the Gathering. Players work cooperatively to complete whatever quest the chosen Scenario puts before you, and face the many dangers lurking in the shadows of Mirkwood. Each expansion adds new scenarios and encounter sets to change the setting from Mirkwood, to Moria and the Misty Mountains, to Gondor, Rohan, and coming soon- Angmar. Each player controls several Heroes, who are both your strongest characters and your source of Resource generation. Heroes and the Resource Types they produce are: Leadership, Tactics, Lore, and Spirit. Each has a distinct sphere of influence on the game, with Leadership focusing on aiding allies, Tactics on the combat phase, Lore on healing and card draw, and Spirit on questing and threat reduction. Also, this game is very, very difficult. This particular playthrough will be a campaign playthrough. Our group just finished A Shadow of the Past, and will now attempt to tackle A Knife in the Dark So How Do You Play? I'll be doing writeups as we go along, but for those who want to play I've included the rulebook and tutorials below. Official Rulebook Official FAQ Complete Card Spoilers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMyPOFf7Vy4 What Do You Need? I'm looking for 2-4 Players. Since this is a more advanced scenario than some of the other games run via PbP, I prefer advanced players, but everyone is welcome to apply. If you want to play, the first thing you'll need is a deck. The best way to do this is to use CardgameDB's Deckbuilder. Simply build your deck, then past the BBCode (not Popup BBCode) into a post below, along with a brief explanation of your strategy with the deck. Doesn't have to be super deep, I just want to have an idea of what you intend to do with it. The only restrictions is the following heroes cannot be used, either because they are in use with existing decks or were KILLED during the last quest: Aragorn Boromir Prince Imrahil Legolas Bard the Bowman Theoden Eowyn Eleanor Fatty Bolger (RIP) I will keep the thread open for a week or so, or until we have 1-2 good candidates. I guess Rarity and I are still in. Rarity, did you take Great Yew Bows with you before? It might be best to plan for sniping Bill Ferny if possible. Bard+Yew Bow isa good combo for killing in the staging area. That or other direct damage cards. (Gandalf, Hail of stones, ???) Alternatively, use Son of Arnor or Knight of Minas Tirith to pull him out early.

Just to clarify, Amoeba and Rarity are already in from the previous quest. We are looking for 1-2 more, in addition to them, to make up for players who dropped out over the course of the previous quest.

I am interested! I don't even remember how Knife in the Dark goes, so this will be a good reminder. E: So it looks like the Lore deck isn't in anymore? I guess I have a deck building direction to go. I'll probably still base it off the cards I have IRL though. (Base, Mirk, Khazad, Dwarrow, HoN, Stewards Fear, BR, Hobbitses) ChiTownEddie fucked around with this message at 17:45 on Mar 5, 2015 |

This seems a little bit like overkill for one Silvan ally, and an expensive one at that.

I'm gonna keep the same deck as before, why not. Unless someone else wants to suggest an edit.

There are some good cards that came out since our last quest. Heir of Mardil is a good combo with Steward of Gondor or Horn of Gondor The Day's Rising would be good for Aragorn or Theoden Galadriel (ally) could help pull Sword that was Broken or Steward Tighten our Belts can help with early resource generation. Then there's Treebeard that's always awesome.

Heir of Mardil + Day's rising also a good combo.

Looks good, Eddie. The only things I would change are based on personal preference. I really like Deep Knowledge, I think it's Doomed cost scales really well with the number of players. Also, Treebeard is so good, he would be good in a Vilya deck.

I'm currently on vacation, back home late tomorrow. My plan is to catch up on work and have the thread ready to go by the end of this week.

I'm working on the new thread right now. I won't be ready until tomorrow at the earliest. One thing I noticed is that we took the Gildor boon from last game. I noticed Eddie has the Gildor ally in his deck. Eddie, do you want to change that out, or would you guys rather take Mr. Underhill?
