When everyone was loaded back up, Dixon soared. Jumped in, rolling hot, he pushed the car around one, two, three, twelve corners. Sliding in and out of traffic like it was going out of style, his area jammer burning the whole way, he finally slid to a stop on the back alley of a back alley (a T-intersection alley, off another) before he popped out and turned it off. "So, y'all, how was that for a job? Ready to creep over to the drop-off?"

And then he cruised back to the drop-off spot, his GPS taking care of the navigation.

That's fine, just be sure to tell me every time you do something like that.

The rest of the apartment building is empty, dark - just the way you like it. The trip to the window is completely uneventful, and Chad doesn't seem to be interested in following you. You slowly and quietly climb down from the window, and make your way back towards the vehicle, uninterrupted.

Returning

The trip from Midtown to The Hill is uneventful for the small convoy of ne'er-do-wells, with the mostly-empty city streets turning into a rainbow of brown, black, and occasionally yellow.
By the time you arrive at the restaurant, everyone's gone, even the waitstaff. The windows are dark, with the only light in the area coming from the headlights of a Eurocar running on the street in front of it. You're able to see Livia leaning against the wall near the parking lot, on her comm. When you get out of your vehicles, you're able to hear the last part of her conversation.
"No...in fact, they're here now with the drives. I'll be right back..." She hangs up her comm as you approach her, and she gently retrieves the briefcase from Ivanna's hands, though she doesn't ask beforehand. "Excellent! I knew you would pull through in the end. I hope Leonard and his friends didn't give you too much trouble."

Also, I'm aware that I kind of gave Trix and r00t3r the short end of the stick this run, mainly due to not planning for a Decker and a Stealth Specialist. The next run is going to be based around The Matrix and Hosts along with stealth so I'm hoping that you guys will get more spotlight time next time.

Just so this thread doesn't go quiet for around a week, I'd like to know - What do your characters do during their downtime between this run and the next? I'm aware that Octane offered to show Goronagee good BBQ, I'm actually pretty curious if that offer is extended to the rest of the group.

Yay, money, Ivanna had about a thousand things she needed to do, but first was to set up an actual living and working space

Plans

-Set up a street doc shop, as per our OOC discussion, we'll figure out what we'll need. This will obviously be getting gangster their parts and whatnot, but it'll also be a "pay what you can" local place. Day to day operations can probably be handles by her mom, which I'm spending 3k to buy the dependent flaw down from 6k to 3k representing living conditions that aren't utter poo poo. Sprawl life 3 (Scavenging+2) might help, as would the engineering skill groups and knowledge skill.
Run Faster has the "Commercial" Lifestyle which is 8k a month in costs, with a cha+ettiquite which I can-hahahahaha, nope.
Since I also want to set up a chem lab there as well, I probably need to hammer out stuff with the custom lifestyle options. I dunno, I'd need a GM ruling.

-Build and install that drug reservoir, and buy some Narcojet. That goes for all y'all too, if you want a reasonably "simple" piece of tech, I can probably both build and install it.

Ballyrog is not terribly happy with Erin's lifestyle choices, to put it mildly, so every once in a while she heads down for some community service. Grandma Flaherny always manages to swallow her distaste for a thousand nuyen and a weekend training the militia's recruits. After the last flying session, she flits back to her actual apartment and has some solid decompression time, tempered by the glum certainty that one of her colleagues is going to view her as an ideal source for information on pixies. Trix doesn't mind talking about it, exactly, but she always feels like more of an oddity than a person, a quaint relic to stare at with fascination.

Or at least that's what his sister had told him. Duffin's probably super-awkward at a fair, if she agreed to come, so maybe that would be worth role-playing?

I'd also like to buy a few drones, but I don't know anyone who is good at selling them to me. Luckily, I mostly just want a rotodrone and maybe a few more Fly-Spys. Can I pick those up at the local consumer electronics store, or do I have to ask around for them?

You both find a few Matrix listings that suit your needs for a drug lab-and/or-clinic and in a relatively unknown neighborhood, and in the cheap:
All pictures from St. Louis Pantina which I had no idea existed until today and it's amazing

Old Church, Needs To GO! - Walnut Park (E Security)
Low Lifestyle, w/ 5 points
Old (2000, maybe? Older?) Christian Scientist church, for sale by the Walnut Park Improvement Association. Spacious, good basement. Sold for a reduced (SUPER CHEAP!) price to a loving owner or, even better, a demolition company. Needs a LOT of fixing up (again, demolition is always an option!!!) (Hard [Threshold 18], Exhaustive [1 Week] Extended Industrial Mechanic Test, Bad Conditions [-3 to Dice Pool], everything else as given [See page 146, SR5e core book])

Friend's Home for Sale - Baden (C Security)
Low Lifestyle w/ 4 points, Hard To Find
My friend used to live in here, and he sadly passed away. He left me the place in his will, but he always said that he'd haunt my rear end when he left so I'm not taking any chances. Fairly good conditions, most of the damage is on the exterior, and the boards that he put up in his paranoid days should be easy enough to take down and replace with doors. (Average [Threshold 12], Exhaustive [1 Week] Extended Industrial Mechanic Test, Distracting Conditions [-1 to Dice Pool], everything else as given). Crazy SOB kept a ladder in the garage so you can use the top windows to go in and out. If you buy it, be on the lookout for a junkie elf ghost.

Small Fixer Upper - Wells-Goodfellow (E Security)
Low Lifestyle w/ 3 points, Hard To Find
I bought this house thinking I could fix it up and turn a profit, but my job got in the way. It's a relatively quick fix (Easy [Threshold 6], Exhaustive [1 Week] Extended Industrial Mechanic Test, Okay Conditions [0 to Dice Pool], everything else as given), but it's only big enough for around 4 people, maybe a couple and a few kids. Could work as a small workshop if you want something like that. Has room to improve and build on, so if you want something like that, contact me.

Old Townhouse – Central West End (B Security
Medium Lifestyle w/4 points
Moving to Dallas, so I’m getting rid of my old house. Decently sized, probably one of the few townhouses left in the neighborhood. In good shape, the boards in the picture are just to keep squatters out while I’m selling it. Right near The Loop if you’re into that, you can pretty much walk anywhere in Central West End from the front porch in, like, five-ten minutes.

A skill workshop as per the SR5e rulebook costs 5000¥ and I’d say would require 2 Lifestyle Points, and a skill facility is way out of your price range for now, sadly, but we can cross that hurdle when it comes.
For Ronwayne, we can work something out further regarding your clinic, since there’s absolutely no rules for running one. It’ll probably be a version of the Commercial lifestyle from Run Faster but with modifications to the Charisma tests since a clinic doesn’t really operate like that, and QuantumNinja also suggested buying multiple Commercial lifestyles for more room and beds and such, which is a good idea.
Jawdins, since a drug lab is simpler, you’d probably only have to deal with buying and maintaining equipment and purchasing materials, but I’ll try to make it more interesting.
Also, I will probably be running missions for Ronwayne in IRC to represent having to set up a clinic and gathering personnel to staff it, though with limited karma and nuyen rewards, if any, to keep it balance for everyone else. If anyone wants to assist in these or wants to have me create and run solo or smaller group runs for their character, you can hit me up on the #shadowrun channel on SynIRC or at kumatonsa@yahoo.com.

You find the Matrix blog of a guy who makes his own cyberware with instructions for how to do it if you're stupid enough to attempt. You guess you can have one up and running in one or two days, maybe more if nothing comes up. (Easy [Threshold 6], Average [30 Minutes] Extended Biotechnology Test, Okay Conditions [0 to Dice Pool], Superior Tools [+1 to Dice Pool], Available Plans [+1 to Dice Pool], 13 total Dice Pool)

The fair had been nice. The ribs, as told, were good. Nothing like the mesquite-smoked ones back home, but up here you did what you had to with hickory wood, he supposed. To add to the pleasantry was Dixon's amusement at Niamh's rib-eating etiquette. "That's what the napkins are for. You just get down and dirty and clean up afterwards. You don't need that fork or no nonsense like that, Niamh. You'll never get through that half-rack, you got at 'em all slow like that." By the end of it, through SoyBud and funnel cake, it seemed like she had a decent time. At least as okay as it could be, compared to the fun she had when she drug him to that pub where "chips" meant potatoes and "pints" were a bit too large.

Ivanna checks out the housing listing and money changes hands. The whining about a dead body in the house was asinine; these soft Americans were not used to sleeping next to dozens of the recently deceased. Besides, as her mother had told her, it isn't the dead that can hurt you*, its the living that'll gently caress you.

*Shedim, zombies, and corpses full of plauge/bombs/etc were obviously outside the prevue of this metaphor but whatever

As usual in these circumstances she consistently forgot to do such sissy garbage like "eat" or "drink water". After 48 consecutive hours of drywalling and making sure every flat surface was aligned perfectly with the magnetic n>s axis, Ivanna's next memory after waking up from a dehydration induced state of exhaustion is waking up with her mother jamming a glucose IV in her arm. Home sweet home, I guess. Ivanna wakes up, devours the remainder of the bulk soy she stole from Leonard's place, and gets to work putting the clinic in order. She'd have to rely on others to spread word; her salesmanship and bedside manner weren't her strong points.

Mechanics go here, I'll put the bit oabout the resivour in a bit.

Contacting Livia/Fixer to put out the word, re: street doc services, also using her if necessary to get a lead in buying the medical shop for 5k(?) and 10 doses of narcojet for 500?. let me know if there's any surcharges in addition to this (like materials, fixers fees, etc)[/i]

Sorry for the relatively late post. I got caught up in ~Internet Shopping~ and lost track of time.

After a week of silence, Livia contacts you with a new opportunity. Or, at least, you think she's contacting you with a new opportunity. All you really get is her contact pinging your commlink, telling you "We've made reservations at the H. Lewis Room Host at nine pm, tomorrow evening inside the private section. You don't want to be late."
A little bit after that, someone actually from the H. Lewis Room says the same thing in much less sinister sounding and more professional words, including information about the establishment, an address, and a file that should let you inside the 'private section'.

Basso in St. Louis
Inside the mostly empty bar section of the H. Lewis Room, you flash the file to the energetic elf bartender, who directs you down the hallway and in a small, curtained room mostly just containing a brick-lined room with a round, wooden table, with just enough seats for all of you, and a displeased looking rotund human who's almost too large for his seat.

"Now, I'm assuming that most of you know about GatewayNet, don't ya?" He slightly smirks, flashing a commlink with the logo of GatewayNet proudly embossed onto the back. "Most places that need a host here in the city have one of the local grid...what was it? 'Expeditione'? Whatever. They also have one on G-W-N. Now, we got some intel through our sources that we ain't to happy about. Apparently, the Wizard's Wagon host has some...well, some piracy goin' on. Games, cartoons, nerd music, trids, porn trids of course,...it's all illegally for sale or download on the host. Problem is, it's on this...I think it's called the 'Pirate's Cove' section on the Host, and you either have to have a special file given by the admins or hack your way in, and we ain't been able to do neither.
"So, we want you to find a way to get on the 'Pirate's Cove' and see if it's as bad as our intel suggests. Normally, our organization wouldn't give two shits about piracy, hell, if you know anything about GatewayNet..." Mason laughs heartily at what he assumed was a good joke. "Eh, nevermind, point is it's bad for business for the service. Nobody wants their host to be next to a porn pirate's den. Now, if it's as bad as our information suggests, well, whichever one of you that's on the host - you all have a decker, right? poo poo, I should've asked that before. If you don't have one you can just walk out now and forget everything I've said. Anyway, the decker jacks out, and the other folks get into the Wagon and disconnect the server, destroy it, make sure the proprieties know that GatewayNet was there...y'see, we run a very tight ship here." There's another laugh, and he smiles a bit cruelly.
"Well, that's the plan. Any questions?"

You're allowed five questions to ask me about the devices in the area, according to page 241 of the corebook. You can ask them now or edit them in your original post.

Mason scoffs. "If y'all are smart, you'll be taking care of this at night, when nobody can see the lot of you breaking into a place in one of the most heavily policed areas in St. Louis (Security level A, response time 2D6 + 3 minutes). That should also mean that there shouldn't be any nerds on, but, heh, you know those types of people. Whatever, dumpshock isn't as bad as people make it out to be...well, if it makes your 'conscience' feel better, ya don't have to destroy it. You might get some use out of pirated anime trids and AR games, but we just don't want that Host online or in that area."

Ivanna looks at the rest of the crew. She doesn't have anything else except payment and someone else should probably haggle that.

Dixon just shrugs as he's told he'll have to pay for his own moonshine. It was a pretty stark contrast to the relationships he had down south, then. He nodded at the job and said, "Seems straightforward enough. I guess my curiosities are: why we gotta leave fingerprints around, and why did you get so many of us for this sort of thing? Oh, and how much you're gonna pay us for this little piece of work."

Plan proposal: we get our decker close enough to just fry the hardware by hitting its Foundation.
Alternative plan proposal: miniwelder a wall, apply grenades.
Alternative, alternative plan proposal: we go talk to the shop owner and just convince him to take the host offline / move it off-site.

"I never said you had to leave fingerprints. What are ya, braindead? Just make it obvious that the server was stolen from wherever they're keeping it. And make sure it's gone. If your hacker just fries it, they'll think it's a hardware glitch - something that won't actually happen in real life, but the people who run the joint are stupid like that. If the server housing's busted and the server's disconnected, they'll know that it was something they did.
"I...huh, yeah, there are a lot of ya for somethin' so simple. Hey, 'Livia's' the one who referred me to you lot, and this is a job that needed doing. She didn't tell me there were so many of you lot...hey, if you think you got too much people along for the ride, some of yous can just go home."
Mason sighs when you bring up payment, like he intended for all of you to do it out of the kindness of your hearts. "8k. That's all you can expect."

via DNI with the team only, Ivanna grumbles. <<That's garbage, we should look for opportunities to loot something.>>

[ Loot something electronic and I fully expect to see your arrest on the news. There's a reason we get hired out and don't do random burglaries. Besides, unless you know a fence, it'll just sit in your apartment. This is a milk run; 8k for one night's work to hit up a bunch of nerds and break their toys? Boring job, but it'll help pay the bills. College girl, get us some better pay, speakin' of, yeah? And who knows, maybe we'll get lucky and we'll find some data actually worth two nuyen to rub together. ]

Goronagee snorts and almost seems to match the many-chinned man in disdain. "A little mild dumpshock won't kill 'em. They'd have to be hitting it extra hot to even get a nosebleed. Teach 'em a valuable lesson about the goods and bads of the Matrix; doin' a favor really."

Smash and grab. We can be in and out in seconds. If you REALLY want to go quiet it's lockpick an' grab, I guess. Either way, it's not exactly hard. We don't even need the server; I say we just pop a goddamn grenade on top of it and detonate as we walk out; I got four points in demos, that's enough to buy the one point that should hopefully be all we'd need. I GUESS we could shoot it a bit and stick a tag eraser in there too if we really wanted. I mean, unless our decker finds some paydata. THEN we're stealing it.

Oh, I know there's no such thing as a milk run, but I'd rather get poo poo going now then spend another year in planning ;). Worse case scenario, we, eh...improvise
