I feel kind of doofy for not having Hannah go after Rabah all exciting-like, but she's just trying to keep people safe. If Noah goes, Hannah has wise reasoning about not, and also concern for his well being.

I have not forgotten you, sweet Eva game.

So I am cooking up something a little different for the next encounter. That makes it sound way more interesting than it actually is, but it does involve something that concerns the whole group, and that's the combat map.

Would you guys object to using Roll20 from now on? I've been running combat in it for my other forums game, and it's worked pretty well so far. The downsides are you'd have to make an account to use a third-party website, but on the plus side, it's free and you'd have the ability to roll your own dice and move your token around the map yourselves.

Good idea, bad idea, apathetic?

It does slow my posting since it involves me changing gears; I suppose it depends on how much it eases up things on your end. If it makes things a good deal easier, go for it.

There's also the question of doing Eva rebuilds (for those of us who want to) now that Battle Century Z is out.

Please never forget the sweet Eva game. I still feel bad about Hannah going down the Rabah pursuit route, and I apologize to everyone.

I've never Roll20ed before and I've not applied to games because of expected Roll20 use. That said, it's not because I have anything against it, but more that I was terrified at the prospect of fumbling around with it in a spectacularly awful fashion in comparison to everyone else involved, who are obviously already Roll20 veterans.

But, similar to when we moved from FATE to BCG, I'm not adverse to making the effort if it's something you'd like to give a whirl.

However, I have pressing concerns! Do we all have to show up at one time to do the combatting in a swift fashion? How do the mechanical Roll20 actions get reconciled with here-thread description? In the case of Roll20 fighting, is there even any combat-related posting? (Mostly concerns because a) my schedule can be pretty erratic. b) I can get tripped up in deciding how to word things.)

If it's used like the Strike! game, it's mostly just used for its mapping and rolling functions, so you can log on, move your eva and roll your dice, and log out, we don't have to be on at the same time. Then you just put your post here along with your actions and the rolls as usual.

I realize now that was ambiguous, so let me clarify: this wouldn't require any kind of synchronous meetup. This is just a straight up a map you could log into, move your token, and relay anything you felt was relevant at the time. There is no pressure to be here at a specific time.

That seems to be sufficient approval, so here is the invitation link. https://app.roll20.net/join/1516912/8OZYFQ

Click that, and either register or just join the game if you're already in their system.

You'll need a token. You probably want to use a picture of an Evangelion for this scale, and it'll need to be hexagonally formatted. If you need help with that part of things, let me know and I can crop whatever you need.

There may be some tomfoolery getting your permissions set correctly to move your token. We'll burn that bridge when we cross it.

Regarding BCZ: now is a good time to redraft your characters as you see fit. Keep all the XP you've earned for your bookeeping purposes. Keep in mind all the Evas are going to have a valueless drawback added to them, which is the battery thing. Not being able to use Tension is dumb, though, so what it'll do is just inflict (n-Tension) damage to you after 5 rounds.

Good news! Icons are freely scalable, so as long as it's hexagonal and not huge file size-wise, you're set. The area outside the hex will need to be transparent, but otherwise it'll snap right into the map lines.

Alien Rope Burn posted:

Yeaaaah, I'm not proud of that decision, or making it worse with differing levels of XP for everybody. Gonna be flat rates from now on.

It is a little strong. What specifically did you buy with the extra MP? And could I perhaps interest you in Walking Coffin instead?

K Prime
Nov 4, 2009

Walking Coffin is literal suicide for a tank so no.

I didn't actually take Precious Snowflake, I was asking. Everything on the mech fits in the original XP budget.

For the record, I should have the most XP and have 183 total by my tally.

Yeah, didn't figure, but holy poo poo you guys are hard to kill in this system.

Lemme rephrase. What specifically were you thinking of taking with those points? I have a lot less of a problem letting you take a flaw that goes to a bunch of small flavor upgrades than, say, Slippery Chassis.

Honestly, didn't really have a plan. But it definitely wasn't flavor upgrades, so I'll leave it be.

In the case of Hannah, I didn't take too much from Battle Century Z besides straight-up buying Master Technician and Defensive Technician traits. Her other changes largely involved axing her one movement ability, her awful regeneration, and an ineffectual defensive trait in favor of Expert Support (because I will never live down the friendly fire thing :) ) and Absolute Barrier, a more generalized defensive trait which is also a good thing for Hannah to spend energy on.

Tallying Hannah up, she'd be at 177XP as she is. Which is either right, or erring on the side of caution. Probably.

The Design Flaws really swing from abysmal to amazing. Walking Coffin isn't all that bad compared to the awful Unarmed, though Precious Snowflake seems like an even better deal.

K Prime
Nov 4, 2009

Unarmed is primarily for combiner parts or pure support mechs. Pure supports are surprisingly powerful as a force multiplier!

Alien Rope Burn
Dec 5, 2004

I wanna be a saikyo HERO!
Yeah, Unarmed seems fine if all you're doing is Utility Actions. Not many mechs would be built this way, but it's valid. Granted, I'm not that thrilled with the idea of Flaws in general, since most mechs taking them would be built around mitigating their drawback in just that fashion.

E: Yeah, I think I'm done. I tried to get help with my build, but the fact is that I just don't wanna do this whole process from scratch for a third time, I'm already behind on it, and I'd just be forcing myself to do it. There's also the fact that I haven't really done much in this game for a few months now, and I honestly couldn't tell you what the gently caress even happened in that last scenario. I hate to do this, but going to a third system is just kinda the last straw.
