Asking for a friend, How much PC can you get for $350-$400? Which is roughly equivalent to a brand new PS4 or Xbone?

To answer the title: Yes To answer the OP: not much. Increase that to $500 and you'll have something solidly better, if we're talking new here. The reason the answer is yes is mostly due to the cost of games can be lower to dramatically lower. I think the real question you should ask yourself is if you like a controller better or mouse/keyboard rather than a pure cost based scenario since thats what it really comes down to if you're looking at a budget gaming pc. For most people, the answer is both. Controllers and sitting on a couch is a very different style of gameplay than a computer and both have their ups and downs. Computers are generally more versatile though and cover more "bases" so to speak. There are really three camps, those who like both (smart), those who like computer only (understandable considering games that only really work on a computer), and those who think consoles are better than computers (poor idiot faggots).

you can't make a computer that costs 500 dollars play fallout 4. There is no way. 1500 for a real gamer computer with decent bells and whistles, tops out around 3k.

$400 pc = poo poo. Console is like you are eating at the mexican street vendor and you might get the shiots but the food is really good and cheap. PC gaming is like five guys burgers and fries -- you gotta pay premium to get premium beef. PC runs windows and microsoft is partnered with the NSA, so gently caress PC. Also, viruses? I guess the upside is you can use PC to look at porno. Un-l337-Pork fucked around with this message at 23:34 on Jun 18, 2015 |

You can get Dragon Age 2, one of the best video games in recent history, for $10-15 on a computer. It's worth buying a household computer just for that.

Console games are expensive and PC has a lot of sales on Steam/GOG/etc. But if you want to max out graphics on new games every year then PC is definitely not cheaper.
