Since its longer than the first season and they all met at the end I'm willing to give the first episode some slack. It'd be silly if all these characters started off already knowing each other.

People know what they do; frequently they know why they do what they do; but what they don't know is what what they do does.
most of the magic of season one was the mix of banal police work and allusions to the practicing of ancient magics in a perverted but ultimately mundane modern world interspersed with McConaughey's metaphysical ramblings.

This season has...an angry divorcee cop and a mob guy who wants some success in a casino town, both played by mediocre actors.

Unless something crazy starts happening in the next few, this season is gonna be some plain jane boring poo poo.

That said, the opening song is fuckin :boom:

I finally watched the first episode and i think the show will maybe be good but probably would have been better without ladycop.

I don't like her, I don't like the subplot with her sister, I don't like her dad, I don't like the subplot with her dad.

There wasn't even any wizard stuff in the first one until like the last episode or whatever and in this one we already have an illusory milk wench so I dunno what would satisfy you, maybe the bike cop gets an invitation to Hogwarts?

I'm running through the first season again for a friend that hasnt watched it

drat its so good. the pacing is great too. ep 3 starts out strong, gets kind of boring but it needs to cover some talking points, then ends on a super :tviv: moment

Colin Farrell looks like drunk bloated hell in this season I love it.

I'm also curious to see what comes of this mysterious Black Mountain mercenary business, I didn't grasp what they were talking about first time through.

Colin Farrell and ladycop sally forth, Farrel being inexperienced in the ways of true knighthood but schooled on the zip codes and relevance therefore of Los Angeles denizens. Ladycop is stuck in the past and overzealous in her adherence to her personal code of honor and past failings. Will they get to deep dicking before the season is out??

Tonight, on TRUE DETECTIVE...

How stupid can the character names get? Who will Colin Farrell assault? Will HBO deliver the expected high-quality tail you might expect from YA film actresses expanding their creative limits?

There's probably a watching party in your neighborhood but be warned it's easy to drink enough that you don't get what's going on in the show.
