watching TV has somehow turned into a legitimate hobby so people have thrown themselves into it 100%, op, glad that they finally don't have to feel bad for doing it 5 hours a day. So, adults always watched cartoons, it's just that now they will talk about it in public.

What does it matter if it is a cartoon or not. That is like saying when did it become ok to read murder mysteries. If it has a good story then someone will enjoy it. As for how much they watch that is on them. I will watch a few but i still like a good book more. Preferably with printed text and not on some eReader.

its fairly socially acceptable with shows like simpsons and family guy here I have never in my life met anyone who says they're into poo poo like spongebob or adventure time or whatever unless it's with their kids and I'd be pretty shocked if anyone at work brought up that they did. I have also never met a brony or seen one anywhere in real life which I'm eternally thankful for Maybe my generation and the people I surround myself with is too old for that and it's all the rage with people a few years younger than me though, I dunno

The other day I was flipping through the channels and there was some comedy show on. I assume it was a comedy show at least because there was a laugh track. The joke at any rate was that the guy on the screen did something stupid and said he should kill himself. The punch line was a minute long scene of him screaming in faux-japanese gibberish while miming suicide.
