Well, fuck. Really?

It was less than a week ago when the burner phone that you had been given back when AEGIS first handpicked you finally rang. Dead in the middle of the night, when no sane person should be awake, the little throw-away LG chirped and buzzed ominiously. All but one of you were simply told that you were activated, and to be outside in ten minutes; the last one, the head of the cell, had already been activated.

Outside, AEGIS agents picked you up with what little you were allowed to pack, and you were taken from what little neighborhood you called home in the dead of the night and taken, by all means necessary, to a quiet little patch of land in southwestern Seattle. A sprawling estate, guarded by the best security known (and unknown) to man waited for you, and there you met your team.

And there, after a fitful night of sleep, you were given your first task. The briefing was played via cassette tape, and the staticky voice on the stereo told you about a man who had been given a glimpse into a world he should never know about. The man had pictures. He had a journal. And he had a brain; he didn't keep any of the evidence in his house. He found a smarter way to secure everything.

The task was simple; get the evidence. Verify it. Secure it. Make it look like it was taken not because a shadowy organization was watching his every move. That would confirm his suspicions and keep him on his toes.

No, you had to make it look like a bank robbery.

-----

It's a mild summer Tuesday morning in Washington. The bank, located in one of the suburbs in western Seattle, could almost be considered a co-op in regards to how the bank was founded and managed; the targeted branch had only been active for 5 of the 15 years the bank itself has been around. It more than lived up to its name, and was one of the smaller banks in town, which is probably why the man in question had chosen it.

Citizen's Bank of Seattle was on a fairly busy street, and sat near the forefront of a parking lot shared by a Hobby Lobby and an Office Depot, as well as a small plaza with a sandwich shop, a donut shop, and a scrub shop. This early in the day, the drive-through was incredibly unbusy. The donut shop had closed an hour earlier, after having sold out, and the sandwich shop didn't open for another half an hour; the office supply store and the craft store weren't attracting any major crowds due to it being so early in the week. Any other day and there might have been more than ten cars in the massive parking lot.

Somewhere in there was a safety deposit box with evidence AEGIS deemed too crucial to leave out in the wild. There was no briefing on what the man saw; only that he saw something that AEGIS wants to keep under wraps.

With so few witnesses and so little resistance, now seems like the best time to enact your plan.

And you get thrust right into the thick of it! Go ahead and come up with a plan and decide on any resources or information you would have tried to look up in the days prior. Not everyone needs be in the field; someone is welcome to stay back at the estate with the supercomputer and play whatever their part may be. I won't give any ideas or hints beyond that.

This is completely open-eneded so however you want to approach this is more than likely the right way. Decide on who you brought, what vehicle you took, and what equipment you have, and let's get rolling!

I'm assuming you at least looked up the blueprints so I've already provided those.

Luís "El Toro" Gonzalez - Ex-Cartel Enforcer

Luís simply couldn't believe that his first official mission would be a straight up bank robbery (at least that was the first method that popped in his mind).

He glances at Peter Valruki, the only fellow criminal in this extremely weird mix-up of a team. He speaks with a thick accent "I go to jail for a crime I didn't commit and what's the first thing I have to do when I get out? Actually commit a crime! It's just...too drat funny." he then speaks to the team as whole. "If we need to get hostages I'm pretty sure I can get them to cooperate with us." he says, cracking his knuckles

The things that Luís would try to get with his criminal connections would be:
- balaclavas since I have Notoriety (Criminal Resources)
- A decent getaway driver (maybe Chop Shop knows a good one!) Total 9

FBI Special Agent Marcus Hendrickson

Marcus was already hating this job. He'd been straight and narrow his entire life, and the first thing this AEGIS place wanted him to do was rob a bank. Well they didn't have to rob, but they had to verify information in a safety deposit box, and that's assuming they know what box. That is the kind of work the rest of the team can do, try and find a way inside. Marcus could at least find out what box it is in.

The inside of the Surveillance van was packed, and the smell of stale coffee and old Chinese take-out was prevalent, but staking out a place was something Marcus was good at doing. For the last few days he had been following their mark, trying to get a sense of his routine. The holy grail was that this guy had regular work or other engagements. That way Marcus could sneak into the man's house and hope he had a document from the bank somewhere stating what safety deposit boxes he had. If not, they'd have to find another way to find out that information.

Okay, trying to use surveillance to follow this guy around, and find a gap in his schedule that would allow a less than legal search of his home.

Perception is 4 and surveillance is 4.

Sara King

Resting her forehead on one hand, the former Moondust tech rests her gaze on the burly looking criminal with disbelief, before looking back down at her hard copy of the orders. Steal from a bank? Make it look like a robbery? And partnered with criminals? She could already feel a cluster headache forming behind her eyes.

"Look, Louis, I know you like to reminisce about your criminal days. And I know the government likes to sometimes hire former criminals as contractors, but... Look, I can't do things that way. Too high of a chance of people dying and us being arrested. I've already found out which deposit box we need. So I'm going to look at this like an Analyst. All we need is a way to get into the safe and back out, maybe grab some others so it doesn't look like we targeted one specific box. And we have a SWAT vehicle. So we need to make the bank think they called us in to do something with the security deposit boxes. Something where they expect us to run in immediately without talking to them, and maybe leave with a few of them. So... what if we stick a small bomb in a safety deposit box? Enough to make the alarms go off but not hurt anyone. I can use the supercomputer here to intercept the alarm, you drive up in the SWAT van, rush in to 'check for more bombs', and carry out a bunch of deposit boxes. Everyone should be evacuated, no hostages. We, umm... might want to find a way to drop cell service in the area too. Keep people from calling 911?"

Peter chuckles. "The bomb will only bring the heat down on us harder. As someone who's knocked over banks before, I'm telling you there's an easy and time tested way to do this. Cut the alarms, control the crowd, and get into the vault. Keep your exit plan ready and don't waste time. Sara should be able to get in and control the alarm system with that giant computer of hers. Now I just happen to know a guy who is an expert at breaking into bank vaults. He'll expect to get a cut, so we can pay him off using one of the other deposit boxes we grab. Once we have the loot, the getaway driver pulls up with a van we boost. After we load the goods, we drive to our real vehicle, transfer the deposit boxes, and set the stolen van on fire."

FBI Special Agent Marcus Hendrickson

Marcus comes back to the estate frustrated and angry. He'd spent hours trying to track their target, and the guy was paranoid as all get go. He knew he was being followed and kept running lights and the like trying to shake Marcus. Finally the fed had to give him the slip. He enters the briefing room, just as people are talking about explosives and getaway drivers. Marcus plants himself in a chair and turns to the group.

"The hell do you think we're doing? We are not going in guns blazing, and we are not blowing the damned place up, at least not yet, okay. I want to know what is in that box before we extract it. It might be some unstable alien thingamagig or something. Look, Sara and Jerry got us the box number right? Peter, use your criminal connections to get yourself a good fake ID. Something that is going to pass a background check. Then you're walking into that bank, you're asking to rent a safe deposit box, you're going to pick open the deposit box of our target, and get some pictures. Once we identify what it is we're supposed to secure, then we can discuss the remote possibility of committing major Federal Felonies to retrieve it."

Marcus rubs his hand over his shaved head. He did not go to law school and sweat his rear end off through FBI training for this poo poo. Why couldn't dad have left him a car, or some money, or any other kind of legacy other than this?

Hey I asked for a roll and never got one, so I rolled and you got a 17 on your surveillance. This is 5 success levels, so you were NOT spotted.

Marcus, luckily, was able to take up his stakeout in a house across the street from the suspect; the family there had left due to a random mold infestation and the house was tented for fumigation, or at least that was the story that was told. In reality, AEGIS had flunked their mold test on purpose and put them up a nice hotel on the other side of Seattle, and set the house up as a cover for their agent. It gave Marcus an excellent location to watch the man from afar.

It didn't take much watching for Marcus to realize exactly what kind of man Simon Carbine was. He was incredibly paranoid, but not in a very bright or intelligent way; the man jumped in terror at white vans, people in nice clothing, and anything with a lens. He didn't seem to particularly care about other vehicles moving slowly down the street, or even the unmarked car parked down the road. The man watched only for the stereotypical signs of conspiracy and being watched; he didn't actually have any notion he was being watched at all.

Over the three day stakeout, Marcus found out the man's routine was pretty much clockwork. Get up at 6 AM, scurry out to get the paper at 7 with his robe tightly drawn and throwing furtive glances around to see if someone was watching him from the bushes, and peek out through the blinds (which he would spread with his fingers in and incredibly obvious manner) every 30 minutes, or any time he heard a vehicle drive by. The man seems skittish and flighty, and at no point does Agent Hendrickson see him leave for work. At one point he watches the man entangle himself in his garden hose when a white van drives by and panics him, leaving him coiled up and screaming for help in his front yard.

However, Marcus notices that the man's concern seems to be justified; several times workers for different charities approach the house to knock and peer in through the windows to get Simon to come out, and Marcus notes that it's the same group every time in different uniforms. Even at this distance, he can tell that they're armed, and one of them seemed to be slightly itchy on the trigger finger. At no point do they try to break into the home, which seems to be a small godsend for poor Mr. Carbine.

It's difficult to believe the man could have found ANYTHING that would concern AEGIS, but it seems he's at least gotten his hands on something big enough to attract more than just AEGIS' attention.

What a stick in the mud. If he didn't have to obey the G-mans (although he guesses he a G-man too of sorts now) orders he'd have split long ago but that would cost him his daughter. For an FBI agent though he doesn't seem to know much about bank robberies.

"Ok say I do manage to get my hands on some good ID's, on my own or with some help from the team. We'd have to own the banks entire computer network to get me off the cameras. Plus, they'll have a man watching me either in person or over the cameras while I'm in there. What are they going to think when the camera feed cuts out with a guy in the vault? Reconning the contents of the box is out of the question. You're FBI, you guys specialize in bank robberies. Have you ever heard of a case of some idiot pulling that off? No! Because it won't work."

Peter goes up to the whiteboard in the meeting room where he begins to outline the his plan.

"Ok Days 1-4."

"Sara, you'll take this time to get into the banks computers and their cameras, alarms, the works. If you can find out the vault mechanism, if it has a time lock or a code, that is even better. Once you've got that down, see about prepping the local cell towers to go down so cellphones are down.

"Manuel, neuter your bomb so it can't actually go off and then make it as complicated to disarm as you can. We'll drop it off on the other side of town on our way to the bank and then call it in. This will draw a lot of heat to the town, but not on our side."

"Marcus, Luis, and I will steal and prep two vans. Ones for the bank job and we will drive it from there to an underpass where we'll transfer the goods to the other van before making the getaway.

"Now Day 5."

"Banner, the safe cracker I've contracted will arrive in town. Hes got his own gear for this kind of thing so dont worry. He's going to be getting us into the vault and the boxes, one way or another. Sara will be staying here and acting as support. Get on the police bands and alert us for anything headed our way. Jerry, you will drive the swat van and park it in a nearby parking garage. You're plan B if something goes wrong. Marcus, Luis, Manuel and I will get in the van with the bomb. We pick up Banner, drop the bomb on the other side of town, and get to the bank. Sara will call in the bomb and shut down the bank when we get there. We bust in, control the crowd, let Banner do his think. Once in, Manuel and I will keep covering the crowd while Luis, Marcus, and Banner load as many boxes as well can into the van. The more we grab, the less it looks like a targeted job and more like a regular robbery."

"Then we drive off to where we stored the other van, load it up, and torch the first van to remove any DNA evidence or fingerprints. We head back to the estate, with Jerry following behind, where we open the boxes and search for the one we want. Banner knows we just wanted the one box so we'll let him take his pick of the other boxes before dropping him back off. By the time the police are able to react to the bank situation we should already be home free."

FBI Special Agent Marcus Hendrickson

Marcus waits for Peter to finish outlining his plan on the whiteboard. As soon as the last letter is in place, Marcus grabs the eraser, spends at least a minute erasing every last thing on the board, the writes in capital letters, RECON THE TARGET.

He then turns to the group, his eyes falling on Peter for a few seconds before continuing. "I'd trust in what you have to say about the security of the vault, if it wasn't for the fact that you were in jail having been caught. You've obviously never legitimately been inside a bank. They tend to leave clients alone in a vault, and there are never cameras inside, since drilling a hole for camera wire would present a vulnerability. There will be no gathering of escape vehicles, there will be no planting dummy bombs, until we know what it is we are getting out. I'm not telling you to steal it. Get in there, pick the lock, and snap some photos. It might be as harmless as a scrapbook. or it could be something very fragile. For all I know it gives off alien radiation that will give us brain tumors without proper protection. This Carbine dude was an idiot, but he was paranoid about something."

Marcus finally sits down, so as to be on level with the others, not towering above them. "Look, I'll admit I've not had any contact with the paranormal or alien. I got this job because I was apparently groomed for it my whole life without knowing. But we don't know poo poo about what we're taking, and in this weird world we're now in, ignorance gets us killed. We're going to have to steal this drat thing, and likely through a heist. The rest of your plan looks good. Sara and Jerry work on the security aspect. Manuel, you work on that bomb, even if I am a little hesitant about using a terrorist threat across town as cover. Peter Louis, and I will work on the vans. That said, Peter, you're out of the heist. You're right about one thing, you will be recorded on cameras when you go in to recon, and they will check video in the days leading up for someone casing the joint. If you get caught on camera during the heist, assuming the cameras still work, you're hosed. Look, if I'm wrong and they do have a camera in the vault or have a bank employee stand there, then just put some poo poo in your box, thank them, and get out."

John Dyne

Well, fuck. Really?
Few things, and this is something you would get from AEGIS Prime if you told them this plan, or that you'd get from searching for information about the bank:

1. It's a 3x5x5 safe deposit box; these aren't Payday boxes with 9 bars of gold in them. :v: There are some larger boxes but you know Carbine dropped minimum dosh on this one, and the website for the bank lists their cheapest one at that size.

2. All of the planning stuff is currently in the past; day 1 of the game is you actually pulling off your plan, just FYI, but you've got no more than 5 days to do it. Orders received Monday, last day of opportunity is Friday.

3. You do not all have to agree to the plan or go to the bank. Marcus knows Carbine is at risk and knows when the group of people keep showing up to visit him; it's always within the same hour, every day. Confronting or tailing them is bound to give you some insight into what's going on and why the guy's evidence is important.

4. You were given your orders pretty clearly: get the box, don't make it look like a targeted theft. It's an incredibly small bank with maybe three tellers (with one at the drive-through window,) no security guard, and a manager. Peter, Sarah, Luis, and Jerry all feel confident that they can disable the alarm box outside and spoof the connection to the security company to keep them from sending someone out.

5. AEGIS' orders said nothing about avoiding contact with Simon Carbine, and while it is preferable not to give him coincidences to work into his own personal conspiracy, doing so does not present risk to you guys. However, Simon does not shut up online EVER about this poo poo. Anyone who trolls conspiracy boards has found him constantly spouting off about chem trails and lizardman shapeshifters hiding amongst us and everything under the sun. The guy is a conspiracy nut, and he's bragged OFTEN about how he finally has something to prove it all. For years, in fact. But nothing pins down what's in the box, and it seems like it's more of a risk to HIS safety than anyone else's.

6. While AEGIS has given you orders, they are not a military organization; you are given quite a bit of autonomy to pursue your goals. They have full deniability of you, should you go completely astray, but there is nothing stopping you from making Simon more paranoid or making a targeted strike to recover JUST the one box, though there may be repercussions and follow-ups to correct whatever it may cause. It may also complicate things in the future, but it is wholly dependent on how you guys do things and how clever you get.

And finally, an aside: as someone who has played these kinds of games, I understand the wariness of just taking the box. But I assure you, I'm not rear end in a top hat enough to put in an item that'd give you guys instant alien cancer. :v: And AEGIS values its operatives enough that it would warn them of any possible dangers; they know what's in the box and didn't feel fit to inform you guys, if only because it's not explicitly dangerous for you to handle.

Hopefully this makes creating and executing your plan that much easier.

Jerry

"I think the best approach is to just do a quick, quiet robbery," Jerry says. "We cut the security, then go in and get everyone on the floor while one or two people take some of the boxes, including Carbine's. Balaclavas and a disposable van will keep us safe, and we shouldn't need a diversionary bomb."

Peter pinches the bridge of his nose in frustration. Maybe a different angle?

"Okay let me put it this way. What possible difference does knowing whats inside the box make? Our mission remains the same, whether its a pile of poo poo or a baby alien in there. Is there any possible scenario where you find out whats in the box and decide to cancel the mission? Because I'm sure AEGIS will love that."

Marcus takes a deep breath and holds it in for a couple seconds. "Fine. I delegate to you and Luis to plan and carry out whatever heist you want to do. Anyone else that wants to help is fine, but I am not going to dictate that anyone help on heist day if they are uncomfortable with it." Marcus then reaches into his pocket and pulls out a flash drive with photos he took during his surveillance and plugs it into the computer in the room. The images are a little grainy as they were shot by a AV bug, but they are still of different people approaching Mr. Carbine's house. "While you're planning felonies, these guys keep visiting the target, trying to get into his house. Maybe their group is a little more keen on doing recon than this one. I want to follow them and see what they're up to. Who is with me?"

Well, fuck. Really?
Splitting the group, going with Luis and Peter at the bank, and Marcus and Jerry at Simon's; Manuel can go with either team, and I am assuming Sara is working from the base.

The Bank

Luis' escape driver, Gomez, backs the van carefully into the parking spot right outside the front doors; Peter's man, Banner, is already inside, having walked up from the Hobby Lobby, and is inside discussing a possible loan with the bank's manager. Gomez leans back in his seat, chewing on a toothpick, and adjusts his rearview mirror to look at Luis and Peter. "All on you, carnal." He flashes a wicked grin and acts as non-chalant as he can, looking out at the road and adjusting his shirt to hide the pistol tucked into the belt of his pants, which he brought 'just in case.'

Looking out the darkened back window of the van, Peter and Luis can see that there's only one civilian that they can see through all the large glass windows of the bank; Peter can see the side of Banner's head while he chats up the bank manager, shuffling the papers in front of him and seeming to enjoy the chatter with the blonde woman. Two tellers stand at the far back of the bank, near the drive-through, chatting while the third teller tends to the civilian who seems to be in the process of counting their deposit.

Looks like it's time.

Let me know what you've brought with you and how you intend to attack this. Banner gave a suggestion that you take him as a hostage into the security deposit room, and then take him with you, and Gomez has offered to help keep the hostages covered. Manuel can choose to be on this as well, and Sara can act as your overwatch on this.

Simon's Place

Opting to not take part in a crime, Marcus instead turns a blind eye to the planning and chooses deniability, heading back out to the house across from Simon's to continue his stake-out; concerns of the group that kept visiting Simon stuck in his head. He hadn't been briefed on who else might know about Simon, but he knew well enough the same group of people kept taking an interest in the poor paranoid fucker's life.

Marcus turns onto Simon's street, slowing to a glide as he nears where he typically parks his car about three houses down from the fumigation front. However, as he pulls in, Jerry taps him on the shoulder and points towards the man's yard, asking what the hell that is out front. Marcus notices a long, broad object embedded in Simon's front yard, and quickly pulls up his binoculars. After a moment to put them in focus, cold dread sits in the FBI Agent's gut.

It's Simon's front door.

Manuel can also decide to be on this team. I am assuming you brought some sort of computer equipment for surveillance, due to Jerry, but let me know how you (realistically) kitted out for this.

And to clarify, you have noticed that Simon's front door has been ripped clean off its hinges and embedded like a sign several yards from the gaping hole where it once was.

Not in the mood to take down a bank, he instead decided to head with the group to Simon's place. The ride there was boring, spending most of his time just maintaining his rifle. Best way to handle being bored for Fal-Conde. Then, the other two began to point out that there was a door on the middle of the street. Realizing that is the door to Simon's place, he jumped out of the back of the van and began to approach the place hoping he wouldn't be seen by whatever was inside. He brought his assault rifle and silencer, due to it being daylight he had no need for night vision goggles for now. It seemed to take forever to reach the side of the now open front door. He leaned back against it. "I'm in position. Going to take a look inside." He peered inside not knowing what was already there or not.

When Jerry points out the front door. Marcus curses to himself. All this care to get the evidence in a way that doesn't look like a government conspiracy, and the target was likely dead or kidnapped by said conspiracy anyway. Marcus draws his standard issue Glock 22. He quickly threads on a silencer and pulls the slide back to make sure there is a round in the chamber. As Manuel flies out of the van with his assault rifle, Marcus follows him.

As they stack up on the front door, Marcus raises his weapon and looks down the sight, trying to get a feel for the weight with the silencer on the front. He had qualified for the weapon, and trained regularly with it, but silencers are not standard FBI issue, since they typically don't do wetwork, what with that troubling 4th amendment and requirement for for a warrant thing. Still, it pays to have a Fed who is also a lawyer, and a door jutting up like playing card in the middle of a lawn is sure as poo poo exigent circumstances.

He looks over at Manuel. "They teach you all standard clearing procedures in the Special Forces? I wish we had one more to watch the rear, but if whatever is in there ripped that door off, I want us to watch each others backs." Marcus then motions to Manuel to take point.

Don't know if there are really any skills to test here, so, I'll wait until I'm told to make one.

"Crap," Jerry says as Manuel and Marcus jump out of the van. He climbs from the front seat to the back of the surveillance van, grabbing the laser microphone and a headset before returning to his seat. He points the device at Simon's house, playing it over the windows for any sort of noise.

Sara's statement is true; checking his phone, Peter sees that he has no service whatsoever with his normal phone, though amusingly enough the AEGIS uplink still has a strong signal.

Simon's House

Manuel takes a complicated, convoluted path to the house, using what cover he can and moving with precision and the judgment of someone who has fought in an urban environment. He reaches the side of the house, feeling confident he was completely undetected.. and then he notices Marcus trying to follow his stealth path.

The FBI agent had only seen a partial route by the soldier, and tries his best to follow it, but he doesn't quite move at the same breakneck pace with the same laser precision as Manuel. After ducking behind a car and noticing an old woman staring at him as she waters her lawn, Marcus simply adjusts his jacket and makes a straight line for Manuel, figuring drawing attention to himself by failure isn't very helpful. The old lady shrugs and aims her hose at a different part of her lawn, ashing her cigarette onto the grass.

Slipping around the side of the house, Manuel pauses, looking at the door frame itself. Save for the damage to the frame where the door was ripped from its hinges, there doesn't seem to be any damage on the outside of the frame, and he spots splinters of wood on the concrete and grass towards the door. Leaning in to look into the home, Manuel sees nothing of importance; the front foyer and hall is clear, and he sees no signs of a struggle.

Outside, Jerry aims the microphone at one of the lower level windows, linking it to the equipment in the back of the van and donning a headset. After fiddling with the controls while the soldier and FBI agent approach the house, Jerry finds the sweet spot and starts recording and listening in. A minute passes, and there is silence from the window he has aimed at, and he finds the same on the two other windows facing him. All is quiet in the house, at least within 20 feet of the windows.

The Bank

Christian Roberts had just come in to drop off his paycheck for last week; his boss always gave him the check on Mondays, but he had gotten busy and hadn't gotten to the bank so he figured, "Hey, I can take it Tuesday morning when I'm off work. What could go wrong?" He'd taken the bus across town, filled out the deposit slip, and he held in his mind the image of the burrito he had planned to pick up at the little truck down the road. He had an hour until the next bus, after all. It was the start to a perfect day.

Now, he stands with his back pressed against the counter, wide-eyed and terrified as a literal bull of a man busts in with a ski mask on, brandishing a shotgun and screaming for everyone to get down. He is thankful the teller he had been flirting with can't see that he has wet his pants, and she moves back away from the counter as Luis moves closer, getting back and away from the silent alarm that has completely escaped her mind. Mr. Roberts notes a second man come in, much slimmer and much quieter, who bee-lines for the loan office. He does not see what he does with the manager's computer, but he watches in silent horror as she is dragged out with a gun to her head, and the man who had come in to seek a loan follows behind, his head down and his hands laced together at his neck.

The manager, in a voice tinged with panic, orders the three girls to lay down on the ground, the gun pressed just below her ear. She instinctively tries to move away from the weapon, but is held in place by a firm hand on her shoulder. One of the girls shrieks at the other to put her phone away, and Christian doesn't dare turn his head; he feels invisible right now, frozen in place against the counter. He can hear the confusion at the phone not working, but it doesn't register for him. His eyes are locked on Luis. When the cartel enforcer looks over to Peter, Christian decides to do the dumbest thing he has ever done in his very short life.

Without warning, the man springs forward, his jaw clenched and teeth bared, and swings for the fences, striking Luis square in the jaw with all of the strength he can muster. In his eyes, visions of getting the shotgun away from the man flash in his head, of stopping the robbery and being a hero. The news would interview him, the teller would give him her number, he would maybe get a reward since they probably had warrants out; life would improve.

Luis' head moves with the blow, and while the punch hurts him, it unfortunately does not hurt as much as Christopher had envisioned. He stands there, his fists balled up, running completely on adrenaline now, and the look on his face shows the realization that he did not knock the hulking enforcer out with one punch has not quite caught up with his fight or flight response. Still, that punch is going to bruise. Everyone looks on in silence to see how this will resolve, and Christian seems prepared to swing again.

Of everyone in the room, only Christian was able to resist the intimidation; he is shaken, but not fully intimidated. His attack has done 6 damage to Luis, bringing him from 38 HP to 32.
Christian's punch on Luis (+2 dex, +1 brawling, +2 aggressive stance, +1 unaware opponent)= 12
Christian's damage on Luis (1d6 x Strength): = 6 damage

Simon's House

Moving in at a crouch, Manuel glances into the living room, but only sees what one would normally expect in a living room. He gives a glance into the dining room, but again, nothing out of the ordinary jumps out at him, figuratively or literally. Across from his position he can see the kitchen, but nothing seems to be moving over there, but he can't see too far past the little breakfast nook attached at the corner. Staying low, he moves into the living room, keeping the couch and love seat as cover between the dining room and the kitchen. He stands slightly, getting a better look into both rooms, but things seem to be normal. He does notice that a knife seems to be missing from the knife block on the kitchen counter, but whether it's in the wash or in someone's hands right now is impossible to tell.

In the meanwhile, Marcus stays in the foyer, keeping an eye not only on the front door, but on the hallway leading straight down the center of the house, just in case something approaches or comes down the stairs.

Well, fuck. Really?
You did it right!

So, there is a Rule of 10 and a Rule of 1 in this game.

Rule of 10: If you roll a 10, you roll again, subtracting five from the roll; if the result is 0 or less, nothing is added, but anything above that is added to the roll. Rolling another 10 adds 5, and you get to roll again, with the same rules.

Rule of 1: If you roll a 1, you roll again, subtracting five from the roll; if the result is negative, you use the negative number for your roll, and if it is positive, you keep the one. However, if you roll another 1, you subtract -5 from the roll, and keep rolling, like with the rule of 10.

These mostly come into play with contested and resisted rolls. Werix still passes his stealth roll and still fails his perception roll, with no additional bonuses or penalties.

Sara King

Police band chatter plays across the speakers on Sara's desk as her fingers dance across her keyboard, her view fixed on the screensharing software that was displaying the desktop of the bank manager. From there, it takes her only a minute to set up a VPN directly to a server that she has control over, one that the supercomputer had access to. It only takes seconds longer for the supercomputer to analyze the network and identify which machine on it was dealing with video, and begin re-routing the video traffic into itself. For a few seconds, Sara sees a half dozen video monitors showing panicked civilians and her two compatriots. Then she grins, and loads up the beefy video editing software suite she had been given. Then her fingers slow their dance across they keyboard, and her face looks uncertain. She could edit all the video, but she wasn't used to having to edit multiple feeds... and usually she just made a video look face, not make multiple videos look consistent. Shaking her head for a moment she clears her thoughts and presses a few buttons, tweaking the faces of each of her companions in subtle ways. The supercomputer seems to help as it works to apply the changes across all the feeds, then feeding the result back in to archaic computer that was running the video cameras.

A few seconds later, hands nearly shaking with nervousness, Sara types out a message to the bank team. Cameras taken care of, now erasing tracks. Stay off the wifi. ;-) It only takes a few more seconds for her to have the managers computer download nukeitall.exe and start it running, before disconnecting the VPN and shutting down her remote server. Even thought she was just sitting in her chair, and in a heavily air-conditioned room, the former Moondust technician looked as though she had just been running, sweat streaming down her face from sheer nervousness.

Sara finishes her work, wiping the sweat from her brow as she leans back in her chair. Another hard day's work completed. Back at the bank itself, the lights on the camera go from a steady red to blinking as their routine programming changes, right as Luis lays out the poor hero with the butt of his shotgun. Christian crumples as if every bone in his body suddenly turned to jello, and Luis casually lifts the man and tosses him into a corner, moving to keep control of the hostages in back.

Meanwhile, Peter leads Banner into the safe deposit room, glancing up and spotting the bubble camera on the ceiling. Whether or not there it's simply a decoy is hard to tell from this angle, but regardless, his uplink shows a message from Sara assuring him the cameras are down. Banner takes the bag and digs into his coat, pulling out a lockpick gun that he had concealed inside his jacket. He gives Peter a grin and a wink and gets to work on the box owned by Carbine. He opens the door and pulls the box out, handing it to Peter without a word or a glance at it, before going back to the other lockboxes.

While he gets to work on getting his share of the heist, Peter has a chance to inspect the contents, since Banner's lockpick gun is opening the boxes in half the time it'd take him by hand; however, Banner is a safe cracker, not a lock picker, so Peter also knows he has a chance to show off. In the lobby, Luis watches out the front windows of the lobby, watching as a police cruiser drives past at 30 MPH. It stops at the light at the corner, and as he watches, it puts its blinker on and turns into the massive shared parking lot of the plaza. It parks far away from the bank itself, but he can see the officer is leaning over to check something on his in-cruiser laptop,

Simon's House

Marcus keeps his eyes on the second floor balcony, but try as he might, he can neither see nor hear anything up above. Manuel takes the stairs slowly and cautiously, rifle at the ready. He pauses near the top of the stairs, peering in the game room; a pool table obstructs his view, and up here he can see plenty of trash and dirty clothes. It's likely the man spent most of his time up here. The soldier moves cautiously, glancing towards the closed door that leads to the room over Marcus' head, and continues on into the first bedroom. Here, the room is in disarray, with dirty clothes tossed in a pile in the corner, and a single, barren mattress with a sheet and a pillow sit in the center of the room.

The first bathroom is fairly spotless, and he moves with practice from room to room, again finding nothing until the last bathroom, where he notices blood on the tile and in the sink. In the second bedroom, he spots small flecks of blood on the carpet, and spies Simon's desktop computer. The monitor has been busted, and he notices blood on the glass and on the desk itself; the computer also seems to be on. He notices another broken monitor in the closet, and one with an intact screen under the desk itself.

Outside, Jerry looks at the door in the yard and the portal where it once was. He notices heavy bashing damage on the door, as if it was battered loose, and after a moment of study concludes that, oddly, the door was thrown off its hinges from WITHIN the house, rather than it having being ripped off from the outside.
