Right now the biggest issue we're facing is a driver shortage. Who in their right mind would want to drive a truck? That combined with increasing legislation from the FMCSA has really weeded out the pool of available drivers. If you're shipping a low value, heavy commodity- I'm sorry, you might be paying more than you want to to ship it. The other issue is elasticity in the fuel surcharge rates. As the price of diesel falls, the rates a customer is willing to pay for a fuel surcharge fall as well. That doesn't always catch up to carriers at the same time.
