Hi, my parents gateway computer is getting flakey and overheating and crashing. It's my old ABIT kt7a with a T-bird 1.33 ghz processor.

They are looking to replace it and I suggested these 2 computers:

http://www.ginger6.com/intel-haswell-core-i3-i5-i7-custom-built-pc.html

or

http://www.ginger6.com/amd-home-office-custom-built-pc-p-35075.html

it needs to have three lan connections, but both motherboards seem to support that with 1 onboard gigabit lan and 2 pci-e expansion slots.

Is there any major difference between the two or should we go with the AMD 'cause it is 10 cheaper.

Noise is a factor also as it will be in my dads office so quieter is better.

Or does anyone have a suggestion for a cheap PC with 3 LAN ports?

WUT.
just get a mikrotik or some poo poo if you really wanna get in there and janitor your packets

if you gotta have an x86 box to hand-shape your artisanal routing table, do like a little atom board or something. the supermicro ones even have dual gigabit. dont get a huge loving atx box for your home cable internet, lmao

its that thing when a nerd thinks they need a Real Router but doesnt have Real Money (nor Real Skills to use a cisco) so they hack one together using the power of open sores software, and end up with a piece of poo poo that's neither good at being a home router but also not good enough to be used in real business environments.

an awkward abortion of a middle tier where there exists no legitimate demand but idiot nerds do it anyway to brag to each other about it in a nerd circlejerk

just buy like a used cisco 2100 or something, that should be more than adequate for whatever garbage tier DSL your parents are running. are you seriously going to garbage up your parents' server rack with a tower case? talk about scrub tier poo poo in this thread
