Sakurazuka posted:More like they totally ripped off the story from Zone of the Enders. Which ripped off its story from Gundam 79. So we come full circle. Will G-Tekketsu break the looming CURSE OF MARS! that afflicts Gundam? Time will tell. Also I've seen exactly one episode and I want very badly for this and G-Reco to end up in Super Robot Wars together.

tsob posted:If she does she better build it in a cave and become the show's Char. Speaking of Chars, is it wrong that whenever a Gjallarhorn person popped in I immediately started weighing odds on whether they'd strap on a mask and start flying a Red Mobile Suit?

Still giving even money that the Blonde Gjallarhorn specialist is going to get a Red Mobile Suit and start wearing a mask by the end of the show. Maybe the mask will be a variant on their Spinal Interface usable for adults?

Kingtheninja posted:EDIT: Oh, what was all the talk at the beginning between Mika and the mechanic? I only understood some of it, but they were talking about the strain Barbatos puts on the pilot or something? Basically. That was (actually pretty good) exposition explaining what and why all the kid pilots have those Alaya-Vijnana whiskers on their backs. The mechanic was explaining that they're a nanomachine based interface system that lets a pilot essentially receive piloting data straight into their brain. The warning he gave was that the Barbatos being much bigger and more advanced than a mobile worker would therefore feedback a LOT more data, to the point it could just straight up rupture your brain and kill you. If you saw Unicorn it's a little similar to the Destroy Mode in that it's an alternate and very powerful method of interfacing with the mech that's also really dangerous, the difference is that Mikazuki being uneducated and untrained in proper piloting simply can't pilot the Barbatos without using it.

Kanos posted:Gaelio wanting to hurl at the thought of somebody implanting something into their body like that was a pretty good way of showing exactly how out of date and relatively barbaric the AV system is in the context of the setting. Gaelio has been nothing but a cool customer up to this point, so having him react with that level of disgust was pretty effective. Especially since the guy who has said system was just choking him out not even a minute earlier. It also makes a striking contrast between McGillis and McGarma and the Tekkadan kids. It reiterates the Gjallarhorns are definitely from the same social strata as Kudelia in the way they react to the AV system. The thought of anyone shoving a metal thing into their spine seems grotesque from the benighted position of Gjallarhorn. However the show also interestingly strikes a connection between the two sides, McGillis' line about Mika making a good soldier seems to show that McGillis on some level respects Mika. Moreover it makes me think he actually has guessed Mika is soldier since he seems to know exactly what the AV system is for. In the long run I really am curious to know where McGillis and McGarma end up. I have an outside bet that McGarma might die As for Martian Hitler I was hoping he'd stick around as a semi-comedic supporting character, but it looks like he's either going to die or change sides. Either he ends up dead (probably by episode 8), or he's going to turn full on evil, join a villain faction, and probably get an evil mobile armor or something. Actually random thought, do we know if there are Mobile Armors in this universe yet?

ImpAtom posted:It makes sense for her as a character but man will I be glad when Kudelia stops finding new things to self-flagellate herself over. I suspect this will be something of a throughline for her throughout the show, though I figure it will taper off. I expect we'll see less of it once the journey to Earth properly begins, but I also suspect there will be a big resurgance of it near the end when a big shoe drops.
