Aaahaha this reminds me when I was dumb an 17. I was working at woolies and got a call from them where I was working night-fill asking if I wanted to work on boxing day, and they mentioned the word "holiday" like ten times in the conversation somewhat suspiciously.

Not as bad as the time I was forced to go from casual to a 2 week permanent part time contract though.

Praising a terrorist organisation and celebrating the murder of innocent civilians will get you suspended 100% of the time. I can't think of a single school that wouldn't suspend a student over this, regardless of religion/race factors.

I think it should have been handled differently (who the gently caress thought it necessary to report this), but suspension for things like this is extremely common.

Disagree. Praising the IRA would never get you kicked out of school. Praising the Nazis probably wouldn't even do it. Only praising Brown People Who Are Our Enemies is cause enough

You seriously think that if someone agreed with the actions of the Nazis and praised the events in Warsaw wouldn't get suspended? They would get suspended for sure.

Fair enough, but I'm talking about what First Nations people want you to call them, which, when you don't know their particular tribe, is First Nations people.

In my parts they seem to prefer Indigenous, or the traditional owners group ( usually Darumbal). Haven't come across many who identify as First Nations.

Also many find the term "tribe" offensive.

:siren: Stop the Boats :siren:

A suspected asylum seeker boat has made it near Flying Fish Cove on Christmas Island before being intercepted by the Australian Navy.

Locals on the island told SBS WA Correspondent Ryan Emery, who is on Christmas Island, that it was the first time such a boat had made it that close since 2013.

Speaking down the line from Christmas Island, Mr Emery said locals told him the boat arrived within 200 metres of the cove in the early hours of this morning and was moved to Smith's Point.

He said it appeared Navy staff had boarded the boat and given the occupants life jackets.

It was unclear whether they would be taken to the mainland or whether the boat would be towed back to its origin however Mr Emery said it appeared the boat was moving further out to sea.

The Department of Immigration has been contacted for comment.
