Santa baby, my name is Drone. Long time listener, first time caller.

Gift preferences: Miniatures are okay but I've already got plenty that are unpainted. I like the idea of miniature games a lot (X-Wing, Armada, all Mantic stuff, Infinity), but don't really have anyone IRL to play with, so you should probably skip miniatures unless it's something you really think is great.

I do RPG's, both online and in-person. Right now I'm in a D&D 5e group in real life and I'm enjoying myself despite what goons say about the system (I own the three core books). I'm ALL ABOUT Star Wars though and anything FFG Star Wars would be fantastic (I have the core rulebooks for EotE/AoR/F&D, but none of the supplements/dice/beginner games/anything). I'm not interested at all in PDF's though -- I want to have a book to rifle through and find PDF's too be cumbersome in that regard.

Actually in general FFG stuff is probably a good bet, I have yet to play a game of theirs that I didn't like. I don't need Warhammer: Invasion though, a buddy's got that and I'm okay without. Accessories are fine too!

If you don't plan to go the RPG or FFG route, I'd definitely be open to any kind of co-op board/card games that scale up -- my partner and I would like to play some games together, but not against each other. Any game that does this and is fun would be neat, doubly so if we could invite more people to play and still have the same amount of fun. Our current group (me and my partner, and another couple) gets together once a month for Legends of Andor, but we already have all the expansions, so we don't need anything there. I also own the Netrunner core box and, while I like it, I've only played it a handful of times and am not really at all interested in playing anything competitively or expanding on it.

Please Don't Send: While I do really like beer, I don't really want any delivered to me. I don't smoke, no porn please, I play video games but my Steam account is already full enough. I don't really need movies or non-TG books. Nerdy tchotchkes are okay too but I don't really want anything that's actually a toy. Not a fan of PDF gifts or digital stuff -- I want a package to put under the tree. No clothes unless it's a cool hand-knitted scarf or something, but I have like a million of those already (patches are cool though, I can always stitch them to my canvas backpack).

General Location: Germany -- but I strongly prefer gifts in English (RPG's are pretty much mandatory English, board/card games can go either way).

Solemn Vow: I swear not to grinch, and though I'd prefer not to give GW money, I will if that's what my santee wishes.

I think part of the problem might be that there are a lot of people who don't seem to follow the chat threads or just visit the actual forum page (I know I'm guilty of that). Not sure how you could address that issue, though.

Dropping a post in each of the megathreads for the various games maybe? Or at least, the most active ones (the various GW stuff, Mantic, Infinity, WarmaHordes, X-Wing, FFG, historicals, etc.)

I have aimed my Christmas artillery at the target and fired a shot.

According to Amazon, the estimated delivery date is somewhere between the 2nd and the 19th of December holy crap. That's what you get for dealing with third-party Amazon partners I guess. And no giftwrap for a cool message either. :(

What's this? Could that ringing at my door possibly be a goony Santa? No, it can't be, it's so soon!

But it is! Thanks Santa Goon! :3:

So I just got an email from Amazon that my santee's gifts, which had an estimated delivery date of the 2nd to the 19th of December, were shipped today. So my conclusion is that estimated delivery dates are total bullshit.

Ordered my santee's gift on Amazon like a week ago, and today I get an email from Amazon announcing that as of now, they're starting to do free shipping to the country my santee lives in. :sigh:

At any rate the estimated delivery date has apparently still not changed, somewhere between the 2nd and the 19th. Though if their last email was correct, it should have been sent out late last week.

Well that was more painful than it needed to be! My debit card was rejected by the website [are debit cards a thing in the US? It's just a Visa!] but my credit-card order went through... then about 15 minutes I get a call and text-message from my bank about suspicious activity on my account! [and another from my parents who my bank also called as their number is still on my account!]

Then because of all the faff, I realise that I've accidentally had it sent to me instead of the Santee! Hence lots of rapid attempts to cancel and talking to customer service (who were excellent BTW).

Anyway, Santee; your gift has been purchased and will arrive by Christmas.

Always use PayPal.

When I got home from Thanksgiving vacation there was a box waiting on me! I can't upload a picture from my phone to imgur for some reason but it's the Star Wars Armada game. Thanks mystery goon! There wasn't a username on the box from what I could see. I already have a buddy coming over this weekend for our first fleet battle! I'm pumped.

Holy hell that's a generous gift. Can't decide which is better, that or Leperflesh's box-o'-wangs.

The girth certainly seems impressive, but I'll postpone opening until Christmas for the joy of explaining myself to grandma.

Hope you enjoy it, I had to wrack my brain a bit to figure out what to get. :3:

Hey Santa! Thanks a lot, lot, lot for an amazing surprise!

This is great, Santa! I thank you as much as my girlfriend will curse you for having our upcoming flat plastered with cool historyshit rather than boring dragons!

PS. Was the writing on the receipt from you or the manufacturer? I had trouble deciphering it, to the point I only think it's German.

Really glad you like it, since I was wracking my brain really hard to get something for you... your preferences + a bit of post history stalking revealed that I had no idea what to get you that was game-related, but you mentioned a hard-on for Lenin-era Soviet stuff and for subs, so I ran with that. Fun fact: the poster with the cavalryman (which I think is one of the coolest), must apparently be a freebie from the guy I bought it from on Amazon, because I didn't pay for it! The original order only had the other 4 posters on it.

And don't worry about them rolling up, just stick them under paperweights for a few days and they'll even out. Then frame that poo poo and put it all over your wargaming den!

And yeah the writing on the receipt is from the manufacturer, since I bought it through the Amazon Marketplace. If you want to type it up and PM it to me / post it here, I'll let you know what it says (hopefully something friendly and not creepy political poo poo). I also have no loving clue what any of the Russian in those posters says, I kinda had to trust the seller's very brief description about what the themes were in each.

Edit: for curiosity's sake, what's the quality of the print? I ordered some similar ones from a different guy on Amazon and the DPI was less than ideal. Decent enough to view from a few meters away but up-close you could tell they were working with either a lovely large-format printer or fairly low-resolution source files.

Yeah it's English but I have no idea what the word after "Hello" is. So it's looking like "Hello ... thanks, include a complimentary print".

Oh well, at any rate you like them and you got a free one! :3:

Make that two.

I would definitely be in favor of a slightly higher-stakes "bonus round" style pot, as I was one of the ones who voted for a (slightly!) higher minimum buy-in for TGSS. Then again it's also my first year, and don't get me wrong, I'm super satisfied with my gift!

Howdy!

I realize I'm super late this year, and totally accept the Hall of Shame recognition for it. May the lord santa have mercy on my soul.

I could give you excuses for that, but they won't be worth the words I spend it on.

Please de-grinch Rhjamiz. I will promise (for what I realize is worth in the eyes of the all mighty santa at this point little) that my gift will make it his way. Not necessarily at a particular point, and certainly not by Christmas 15', but it will make it's way.

Also, Leperfish, I realize you probably don't want to share your address, but if there's a thing I can do for you as well, lemme know. You've been more than fair as a host of this event.

Won't participate next year. It's an amazing pool you have here, I'm sorry I wasn't able to rise to their level of commitment.

by all means, quote this post with "you piece of poo poo" until I've provided comeuppance.

Literally don't understand how 30 seconds of effort on Amazon was impossible for you. You don't even have to touch the package.

Edit: I don't why this legitimately pisses me off. That you had told LeperFlesh multiple times that your package would be shipped (indicating you had even already bought it), that you seemed to ignore emails/PMs, that you've basically said "someone else spend money on this guy, I can't be hosed," or the really forced and insincere attempt to lighten up your post with bad "all mighty santa" humor.

Someone earlier mentioned TGSS as one of the few gifts they receive during the holiday season and how they looked forward to it (not your santee I think though), and I guess that really hit a chord with me.

I almost felt like I was too specific in my original signup post, but that's probably the best way to avoid getting doubles of stuff for people that have a larger collection. Thankfully for me my collection was small, but I can see how it would be a problem for people who have a ton of stuff.

Also why I didn't buy my santee anything game-related, because I was afraid he'd already own whatever I thought to buy :v:
