My ex-wife says she won't pay for anything if our daughter goes to a non-Christian school. I swear that religion is the most hosed up thing. you can love everyone unconditionally but when it comes to your own family gently caress YOU. I know growing up my dad was the same way. smiles to all the people at church but a tyrant at home. to top it off he was a minister at a prison so that I thought ALL preachers were as messed up as my own dad.

I guess the only happy thought I have is that when they die there will not be any heaven just non-existence. gently caress religion. And evidently ASU, USC, UCLA, Princeton, etc.

Evidently Pensacola Christian College is the way to go. :classiclol:

Anyone agree with my ex?

odds of rape go down, arguably

odds of education go down definitely

i say its ok OP

edit - undergrad doesnt matter, either she'll study something practical and then it wont matter, or she'll study something academic and need to go to a real grad school anyway. just be happy your ex wife is helping pay for school, that's pretty rad for the child unless she (and not you) really doesnt want to go to a christian school

This sounds like someone I know!

I would say, ask your daughter what school she would like to attend and support that decision. Either way, you're going to be shelling out a lot of money, and if she doesn't like/want to go to a certain school you're better off knowing now.

Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere.

Christian schools are all stupid expensive, the money you'll get from your baby mama is probably less than the money you will save going to a state school, plus your kid will have a real degree.

I agree with your ex as a catholic school will give a decent start toward a proper moral compass, no matter what they choose to be religiously in the future.
Furthermore, you come off like an rear end in a top hat and it's no surprise you are divorced.

This is precisely what I think. Perhaps an undergrad degree from Pensacola Christian is alright but after reading Yelp and the complaints I can't help but think that the whole school is a crazy place run by psycho Christian fundamentalists.

Ps yes that school is where she wants our daughter to go. We live on the west coast. It just doesn't seem like a good idea sending a kid across the nation during their first time being away from home.

lmao Pensacola Christian was founded by Bob Jones University alums. Bob Jones literally segregates its students based on race

Bob Jones University, everyone:

"Students are to avoid any types of entertainment that could be considered immodest or that contain profanity, scatological realism, sexual perversion, erotic realism, lurid violence, occultism and false philosophical or religious assumptions." Grounds for immediate dismissal include stealing, immorality (including sexual relations between unmarried students), possession of hard-core pornography, use of alcohol or drugs, and participating in a public demonstration for a cause the university opposes.[126] Similar "moral failures" are grounds for terminating the employment of faculty and staff. In 1998, a homosexual alumnus was threatened with arrest if he visited the campus

Additional rules include the requirement that freshman resident hall students sign out before leaving campus and that resident hall students abide by a campus curfew of 10:30 pm, with lights out at midnight.[130] Students are forbidden to go to movie theaters while in residence, or listen to most contemporary popular music.[131] Male students with upperclassman privileges and graduate students may have facial hair that is fully grown in prior to the start of the semester, neatly trimmed and well maintained at approximately ½ inch or less. [132] Women are expected to dress modestly and wear knee-length dresses or skirts to class and religious services.[133] The university prohibits students from wearing clothing that displays the logos of Abercrombie & Fitch or its subsidiary Hollister because these companies have "shown an unusual degree of antagonism to biblical morality".[134]

I feel that this should be your daughter's choice. She will be happier and do better in a place where she actually feels comfortable. Everyone i know who was "forced" to go to a certain school or pursue a degree cause Daddy took it either dropped out or failed out. Sure the christian uni will be cheaper but you still might pay a bunch of money for nothing.

Prohibited Activities

Each student accepts the responsibility to actively uphold the Code of Conduct and to refrain from any action that would be detrimental to spiritual growth, the safety or well-being of others, or that would impair the ability of others to follow the Code of Conduct. (1 Pet. 2:11, Rom. 14:13) For this reason, students who participate in illegal or prohibited activities or who build a reputation for involvement in these activities will be subject to discipline including but not limited to demerits, referral, retribution, suspension, or dismissal.

Use, possession, or association with alcohol, illicit drugs, tobacco, and related products, such as e–cigarettes and vaporizers.
Pornography or sexual immorality
Dancing
Profanity or obscenity
Harassment, abuse, and discrimination
Gambling (including the lottery)
Stealing
Witchcraft, séances, astrology, or any other satanic practices

Pensacola Christian College list of prohibited activities.https://www.pcci.edu/pathway/StudentResponsibilities/CodeOfConduct.aspx

Note, I left off that every thing on that list has an attached bible verse adressing it

I did a week long visit of a christian college. I attended classes and everything. This one was geared to creating pentecostal preachers and stuff but it was 25% a wikipedia summary on something and 75% how to think and talk about non-christian things and how to properly contextualize things in a christian context. Basically it was a 4 year college on how to not think or speak the wrong way with just enough real education to make you sound like you know what you're talking about to someone who is brain damaged.

PCC has segregated elevators for genders in all their buildings

ale and female students may not be together in secluded locations, including behind the residence halls, in parking lots, empty classrooms, or any other secluded areas. This includes going to and from the Print Shop, PCA, or St. John Chapel.
Physical contact between men and women (including non-students) is not allowed on or off campus.
Men should not be in the women’s parking areas, and women should not be in the men’s parking areas.
Because of congestion in the academic buildings, men and women use indicated elevators and stair towers.

Academic Center
Women use the southwest elevators, stairs, and exit.
Men use the northwest elevators, stairs, and exit.

MacKenzie

Women use east stair tower and north elevators.
Men use west stair towers and elevators.

Library

Women use the south elevator.
Men use the north elevator.

Big Jesuit schools are ok. They just adapted and treat their cathlolic past as part of campus history.

It's the new Christian Schools that are popping up in the last 50 years that are scary

In April 2014, Samantha Field, a female student at the college, published an article in online magazine xoJane [29] accusing the school of having drastically failed to provide her with support following her rape and abuse by her ex-fiance, a fellow student at the school. According to Field, her request to have her chapel seat changed in order to avoid her ex-fiance, whom she said was then stalking her, was denied; she was informed that it was a personal issue, that it was her own behavior that was problematic, and that she should "stop antagonizing him". Field also states in the article that she was later summoned to appear before the dean of Student Life, who sent her to a counseling service where, upon explaining that she had been raped, she was told to "repent", because she had "sinned". She adds that her only remaining option, to go straight to Student Life and tell them exactly what had happened, was not possible because she was worried that, like two former PCC students who had done just this, such action would result in her expulsion.[30]
