My college plowed down several acres of old growth forest for a solar farm paid for by government grants. It's hideously ugly, barely powers the gym lighting alone, and meanwhile most of the buildings on campus are 50-100 years old and still have single pane aluminum framed Windows that people mostly leave cracked open all winter because the steam heat is so poorly regulated. Twice a year the grounds crew has to spend several days clearing the weeds growing between the PV panels with pollution spewing 2 cycle weed wackers. God, I love green washing.
