Which profession does GBS thinks attracts the most mentally ill people? My vote Animal Groomer: Have you ever talked to someone that bathes and brushes dogs for a living? They're always loving out of their goddam mind. They'll tell you about conspiracy theories involving everything from reptile people, gun control and veterinarians selling you over priced food and how vaccines are bad for your dog. Last week I had one in her mid 30s, face covered in piercings, go from telling me about shampoo, to how vaccines kill dogs so your vet can make money off the euthanasia to how the only movies she likes are the Buddies movies because everything else is there to sell you on Jews being the master race. As she was checking me out she tried to explain that prescription dog food is a scam to make my dog fat and sickly, while charging me $35 to bathe two 9 pound dogs. This is the fourth groomer I've used in the last 3 years and the third one to get mad about jews and the 2nd to tell me vaccines are government poison cocktails

My dad's a massage therapist and there are some certifiably insane people in that profession. Even disregarding how prevalent all the holistic medicine nonsense is already. Them and chiros too. Bunch of bozos.

My GF is a LMT/Personal trainer and she's pretty level headed, but she works out of a gym and has a Bachelor's in biology and a deep seated disdain for holistic poo poo. But the personal trainers she works with who just have a certificate from DeVry or wherever are all pretty stupid

My wife is a dog groomer. What you say OP is mostly true. Aside from believing in god my wife is actually pretty normal and doesn't have conspiracy theories or anything. BUT... the stories she tells me about her co-workers.... I can't recant them all here but I can tell you her boss (the owner) is literally always on some sort of drug and she has redneck alcoholic hair. The assistant store manager is the christ crusader, conspiracy believing, anti-semite and tries to show these youtube videos to co-workers and customers alike. She also works with recovering meth addicts and self proclaimed porn stars. One of her co-workers supplements her measly income by panhandling on the nearest major intersection to the shop. Dog grooming salons are the female equivalent of a construction site as far as personalities go. The only ones I've interacted with on a professional basis who are not crazy (and are well organized and do poo poo *gasp* on time) happened to be Psychologists that are therapists to other psychologists. Academic scientists have a higher than normal proportion of crazy people. 40-50% maybe. In Marketing and Sales you get people who are not too bright and feed into this "cult of my profession" thing where they swallow the delusion the methodology of their job can solve all problems. If any of you remember the book "The Secret" it was usually sales and marketing idiots who bought the thing en mass. The book was written by a pair of new age/magick bullshit writers and they packaged belief in magic as "visualizing your desired outcome which will come true because l'm going to lie about quantum theory and Heisenberg's uncertainty principle and I know you are too dumb have actually taken a course in science". Aging trophy wives who were particularly evangelical about the drat thing (read: delusional) were without fail in sales/marketing.
