can some one explain the idea behind circuit breakers in stock markets. Like why would you shut it down if the falls? Do they do the same thing if it goes up too fast?

Simple answer: stock traders are stupid herd animals and occasionally a loud noise will startle them causing a stampede. Circuit breakers exist to give them a chance to reevaluate their life before they jump out a window and realize "Hey, maybe that car backfiring wasn't the collapse of civilization." This is assuming, of course, that the frenzied selling wasn't actually a lot of people coming to their senses in which case they're just going to do it again the next day.

Don't you talk bad about starwar betamax. He's 10x the mod any of the last several chucklefucks were. The old mods would have gassed this thread without comment by now or beaten you to OP and commandeered it. betamax just closed it as a joke because it was low on jpg when jpg was advertised and then did nothing at all to contest the opening of a functionally identical thread.
