GW hates their customers, they want new people to get interested in the game and buy a couple armies then move on, since they stop buying stuff and start demanding more

Of course they don't advertise or do anything to appeal to new customers so what the gently caress

I remember some guy who came into the store who had such a bad anterior tilt he had that pornstar rear end-out-and-back-arched look permanently. He was a grotesque manchild with a bowl cut.

Dude Space Marine was awesome and the talisman-based board game, Relic, is super fun.

Nah tournaments are way too harsh and I'm not very good at the game I just like playing with friends or pick up games at shops when I can find them. You can play for money and they even have painting and diorama competitions. I think it's called the golden axe or dwarf or something.

Space Marine was very solid and I'm a bit sad there probably wont be a sequel. Dawn Of War 1/2 are really solid RTSes

Going to be honest, I never played a lot of the games. I know they came out and I know they did well but I don't think they did much better than average. They didn't spawn a whole line of knock-off sequels - as far as I know. Like good on them on making a buck on their lore and stuff but I don't think those games have really penetrated the mainstream.

This is my unqualified opinion of being barely cognisant about video games.

When you pay several dump trucks full of cash for your miniature space men you've got to be super serious about the hobby. Why else would you blew around a hundred bucks for a plastic tank?

The tanks are like $40-60 bucks depending on complexity. I bought an APC for like $20 bucks. The bigass baneblade, though. That's $90. That thing is loving huge.

Most of the new interactions with the game are like this:

*GW employee does demo for potential player*
:v: - hey, this is cool, how can I get started?
:) - well we have this starter pack here for $200, but don't forget to buy the army book for $50 and the rules for $80!

Tbh there's a lot of goons.jpg that play thrse games but there's also a couple of dudes that aren't goobers.

Lots of people like the modelling aspect and unlike video games, there's a real world interaction and tangible items you play with

Edit: it's cool and good to go out for an evening, play a couple games, then go out for a beer

Actually the way it works is that children buy it, then lose interedt during the hours of assemgly and paintimg before they ever actually play the game.

Those children (and their parents) are still a major revenue stream for the company though
