Welcome to the Season 3 thread for Smite! This page will be a more streamlined version of the Season 2 thread and assumes you're already familiar with Smite. If you're completely new to Smite or MOBAs in general, read the :siren:Season 2 thread:siren: before continuing on - a lot of the basics are still valid (ie- information about gems, the God Pack, favor/worshippers, basic Conquest tutorials, etc). If it's not specifically mentioned here, assume it's been kept the same as in the Season 2 thread.

This first post will be a general summary of changes going into Season 3 with new hints/tips/tricks/guides on mechanics or changes unique to Season 3. Since Smite is a constantly evolving game, the second post will be a living document dedicated to the most up to date known meta and patch changes. If you've been keeping up to date with Smite and tried the PTS before launch of Season 3, you can skip this entire first post and go straight to the second.

1.0 - Introduction to Season 3

First of all, biggest announcement going into Season 3 is the addition of a new pantheon,

the Japanese pantheon, which will not only include Shinto but other Japanese mythological deities. This is the first new pantheon added to Smite since the original 7 at launch. HiRez has always hinted on adding new pantheons, but their first goal was to always "flesh out the existing pantheons first" (or in other words have every class available in each pantheon).

Do we expect another pantheon this year? Nothing hints at it so far, but if they do it's a pretty lofty goal since at the launch of Season 3 there's only 1 god (warrior) in the Japanese pantheon. A more reasonable process would be to add a new pantheon every season after they've worked on the newest pantheon a little bit first. But who knows what HiRez has up their sleeves.

Find out more with the reveal trailer.

1.0.1 - What's this Rising Dawn thing?

A new Odyssey-styled promotion to help ring in the new pantheon. Buy skins/wards/icons with gems, unlock a chance to roll another chest, and get additional rewards at certain milestones.

It will end March 1st, 2016, after which all the goodies will probably be locked away in chests.

In hindsight, the Japanese pantheon was teased with the Japanese-inspired skins (Kawaii Bastet, Daimyodin). Look for more Japanese-inspired skins in the future!

1.1 - Speaking about promotions, what was with that SPL ticket in Season 2?

This was a sort of work-in-progress by HiRez in an attempt to boost interest in their SPL (Smite Professional League). By buying the bundle for 300 gems, it granted access to a screen where you could predict the winners of each game in various professional tournaments. If your team won, you were awarded "Fantasy Points" which you could accumulate to unlock rewards (skins, loading frames, etc). You could also gain Fantasy Points by replacing the default player loading frame with the SPL loading frame (via your player profile in game), which advertised the next upcoming game; you basically were paid Fantasy Points to advertise their games for them.

It went through a couple of bumps along the road: additional rewards were added (would there be more?), the process of how you picked the winners were changed, extra tournaments were added last minute without any kind of notice (some of them were well underway so it was impossible for you to predict any of the earlier matches), and it was sort of a mess.

But overall it was a unique idea and definitely got people interested in their eSports scene. And it wasn't a terrible grind. If you were late in buying the ticket, you could still catch up because HiRez did a few promotional weekends where you won double or triple Fantasy Points. Anyone who bought the SPL ticket early on (or even mid season) pretty much got all the rewards as long as they were actively playing the game.

SPL TICKET CONFIRMED FOR SEASON 3: and it's 450 gems (up from 300 :rodimus:)

Read more in the 2016 Season Ticket FAQ page for more info.

1.2 - What the hell was that "Escape the Underworld" thing?

It looks like the "Summer of Smite (2015)" and "Rising Dawn" promotions were a hit, so this is the third (not counting the Odysseys) skin/ward/gemmoney pit promotion by Hirez. Pay gems to unlock exclusive skins, do (limited) weekly quests to unlock rewards including a new loading frame and music theme.

The Arena map has also been changed and the promotional quests are tied to it. There's a bonus "sudden death" round at the end of each match where you're surrounded by lava and can't go to the fountain.

The "end reward" for unlocking 6 items is this limited Nox skin (if you didn't get it by May 9th, you can't get it ever again):

Read more in the Escape from the Underworld Smite page. Or tl;dr: Watch this portion of the patch notes overview.

1.3 - Viking Invasion

More promotions! More skins! This one promotes Dreamhack and works like the SPL ticket - 900 gems unlocks a bunch of items (skins, wards, a pedestal, and more) and a quest progression which unlocks more chests/skins.

Read more here or check out the trailer here.

1.4 - What happened to my daily log in bonus?
Those are gone, replaced by "Daily Quests" a la HotS. Most likely a solution to "log in bots" that were apparently a problem early on (hence the change of automatic daily rewards to forcing you to click through various menus). Daily Quests have changed to Weekly Quests, and Daily Login Bonus has returned! Read more info about it here.

You start off with daily weekly quests to complete, and for now they're mostly variations of "win/play x gods/class/pantheon/games" that are completely randomized. You're allowed to cancel one quest per day week if you don't like it, and it'll be replaced with another randomly generated quest. These quests stay with you until you complete them.

Rewards are still being tweaked around, but keep an eye out for HiRez to expand these quests with special events and promotions (holiday quests?).

1.5 - Summer of Smite (2016)

Had enough of skins? TOO BAD! Here's more. Read more about it on the official HiRez page.

1.6 - Camp Lazy Day

More quests! More skins!

1.7 - Odyssey 2017

This year, you can actually get rewards by completing quests instead of just paying! Huzzah!

:siren:Cheapest Way to complete the Odyssey:siren:

Read more here.

:siren:1.8 - Enough with the skins and promotions! What's new with the game?:siren:
During Season 2, we saw a shift in how HiRez wanted to balance their game. They didn't want "cookie cutter" builds or play styles, so any items that were "must buys" were nerfed (the great HoG/Weakening Curse nerfs of aught '15); conversely, any items that nobody touched were buffed to the point of everyone getting it (Soul Eater, Frostbound Hammer).

The next big thing getting the nerf hammer is beads, which is already in effect as of the beginning of Season 3 (read more in Section 4.0, below). The next major adjustments will be god balance: HiRez wants gods to be more "defined" - strong early game gods will be stronger earlier but fall off much harder later. It looks like HiRez wants gods with certain strengths/roles defined instead of being good throughout all stages of the game.

Find out more in the SMITE Dev Talk - Season 3 Gameplay Updates video which teases the overall planned changes for Season 3. If you want details on the nitty gritty, here's the Season 3 Round 1 PTS Notes video or the Season 3 Launch Patch Notes.

WARNING: PTS VIDEO IS ~1.5 HOURS LONG AND IS ALREADY OUTDATED - skip to the second post for the most up to date info.

1.9 - Smite comes to PS4

Smite is no longer an XBox One exclusive! Check out the PS4 page for more info, or link your PSN account here.

The most recent patch (Skadi release on 4/8/16) has 60 fps on both consoles. Cool!

2.0 - Game Mode Changes
During the end of Season 2, players were able to beta test a new game mode called Clash. Originally planned for a small test period (at first on PTS, but then it made its way to the live client), it became permanent because it was a fun new popular mode to play.

2.1 - What is Clash?

Tutorial video here.

Clash is a 5v5 mode that's supposed to transition people from Arena/Assault into Conquest. It's has two a lanes, small back/side jungles, a central open area (like Arena) with a red buff to contest, and adds a couple of key objectives that you would find exclusive to Conquest (the Gold Fury and Fire Giant). It's a good mode to teach players about objective control, zoning, and how to "close out" a game; which you don't really pick up in other modes.

Check out the SMITE Dev Talk - Clash video for more information.

2.1.1 - Well, what about Siege?
Siege was originally supposed to serve the same purpose, but being limited to a 4v4 mode means you're basically shoe-horned into two duo lanes. The laning phase in Siege is much more important, while in Clash it doesn't really matter as much. In Clash you can have the two lanes split up 2/3 or even 1/4 - any comp really works as long as a lane can keep up in clearing the waves (Loki can decoy one lane and another lane can be a 5-man death ball). The distribution in lanes isn't really important because of how close together they are - people switch back and forth all the time.

Try to think of Siege like "early to mid game Conquest" while Clash is "mid to late game Conquest."

2.2 - League Changes
League MMR ratings are having a "soft reset" and everyone is going to have to re-qualify. The Tribute Point system is getting rehauled (no details released yet). You will be able to queue with up to three people at a time, but the system is supposed to be able to calculate individual MMR and try to group you against similar groups.

A new 3v3 league queue is being added using the new Chinese joust map. Hooray!

2.3 - Xing Tian's Mountain

A PVE mode where 5 people are put up against "MMORPG raid boss"-style encounters. Start at level 13 with 7500 gold - buy your items then play as many randomly chosen rounds as you can until your team wipes. You have 1 minute to finish each encounter, so each game goes by quick! Compete for leaderboards!

Watch the official trailer here.

2.4 - Fafnir's Wonderland

Similar to Xing Tian's Mountain, but holiday themed! Read more here.

3.0 - Map Changes
Besides the addition of Clash, HiRez has completely redone the Joust map and tweaked the Conquest map. One unfortunate side effect of the "old" Joust map (or the current Assault/Arena maps - look for possible changes to these maps in the future!) is that there's nothing to punish turtling. The games devolve into waiting for someone to initiate so they can counter-initiate, until one side is bored enough to dive a tower and wipe.

HiRez's answer to this was to add an objective to the Joust map (the "Bull Demon King") that disables towers temporarily, allowing you to freely dive the enemy team. :hist101: It looks like HiRez's new map design philosophy is to have more areas of contention (uneven amount of buffs on the map) to rewarding you for claiming these areas; while also opening areas up for team fights and adding points of entry for assassins (jumps over walls).

3.1 - Joust

Joust Map Reveal Trailer
Tutorial video here.

Joust is getting a complete overhaul, changing from a Medieval theme to a Chinese one. The general idea was to base it off the Sun Wukong-vs.-Jade-Emperor mythology, so even the minions have changed (soldiers vs. monkey dudes :swoon:). Biggest change in the map design is to stop how linear the old map was and to add in something to punish turtling.

The old map had side jungles but there wasn't much action there except to invade every once in a while - most of the action stayed in lane. The new map has multiple intersecting points that are tightened together, so there's a lot of areas for you to jump in and out of. There's also two hot areas of contention - one red buff and the "mini-boss" which on top of giving you a Fire Giant buff, it disables the enemy's tower so you can freely dive it without getting shot at.

For a basic overview on the new Joust map, check out the Dev Talk video here.

3.2 - Conquest

The above image is a comparison of the Season 2 map with the new Season 3 map. Buff camps are still in flux as HiRez decides what to do with the speed buff (or if they're even keeping the speed buff). :siren:Speed buff is back:siren: as of the Perfect Storm patch!

The only thing that's changed is the jungle layout. Areas have been opened up and buffs have been removed/consolidated. The intent is to create more action in the jungle - more skirmishes, more invades, more incentives to gank.

For a general overview of changes, check out the Dev Talk video here. WARNING - INFO IS ALREADY OUTDATED, SKIP TO SECOND POST FOR MOST CURRENT INFO

4.0 - Active/Relic Changes
Upgradable Actives are gone and replaced by "Relics" which you get for free at levels 1 and 12. They're basically the Tier 2-3 counterparts of Season 2 actives. There will be some that are strong early game while weak late, and vice versa.

The intent is to add an extra layer of strategy into the game - do I start with a strong early Relic and try to steam roll? Or do I just not buy one out the door and counter the enemy's builds later on?

Also: according to HiRez, Actives were not being purchased by new players so the concept of making them free is supposed to incentivize them to finally buying them. Besides balance reasons, it's some kind of attempt to bring new casual players up to level with more seasoned players.

The biggest change is that Beads is no longer the definitive Active you always purchase because of its long cooldown. Each Relic now is pretty viable (except maybe Frenzy which is a late game relic), subject to some future potential tweaks. Also - Shield of the Underworld and Achilles Spear are gone.

5.0 - Item Changes
Free relics means an extra 1800 gold in your pocket. In response, HiRez has decided to add "luxury" items - items that cost 3000+ gold with bloated passive and stats. These items are currently still being balanced and subject to many future changes.

Besides this, it is HiRez's intent to remove bloat from items (ironic because of those "luxury items"). HiRez wants to force you to invest heavily in multiple items to get the benefits you might have gotten from 2-3 Season 2 items. For example, in order to get fully rounded health, physical protections, and magical protections: in Season 2 you might have done this with just two items (Gaia/Mail) but now in Season 3 you will need three items: one for health, one for physical protections, and one for magical protections.

The intent is to nerf the "tank meta" that existed at the end of Season 3. One complaint is that guardians/warriors could still do high amounts of damage while building primarily tank items (4-5 tank items plus 1-2 damage items meant they could outlast and outdamage some mages/assassins/hunters). Whether this is true and the way to go or not...we'll see as Season 3 progresses.

1.0 - Overview

Above: latest jungle buff layout as of "Perfect Storm" patch

The purpose of this post is to provide the most current and up to date changes on the game. Learn the latest meta changes, current opening builds, what gods are top picks, why certain items are good or bad, and other top tips and tricks.

This post is a living document so check up on it often. :siren:For your reference, feel free to bookmark it - link to this specific post is here.:siren:

1.0.1 - I used to play back when [...] what's changed?
Too much to list here. But you can check out god patch history here. In terms of items, you're on your own!

1.0.1 - The LAST God(dess) of Season 3 is:

Nike, Goddess of Victory (Greek Warrior)

Next god speculated to be nothing else for Season 3 but Celtic Pantheon confirmed and will be added right before the start of Season 4 similar to Amaterasu last season with a Japanese guardian "high on priority" next.

:siren:1.0.2 - The current/next patch is:siren:
Journey To HRX | 3.24 PTS Patch Notes | December 14th, 2016

1.0.3 - Season 4 Spoilers
Avoid checking this section if you care about that sort of thing. Some stuff from Season 4 technically is being added to the end of Season 3.

Technically, the last god is

The Morrigan, The Phantom Queen (Celtic Mage)

And technically, the last patch of Season 3 is The Phantom Queen | 3.25 Patch Notes | January 5th, 2017 with mostly new skins, bug fixes, and the addition of Morrigan. The next god is speculated to be Kuzenbo, Japanese guardian(?)

1.1 - Current "Opening" Meta
solo/jungler: yellow, to blue, to solo lane. Jungler tags/clears solo, does fire elementals with solo if they outclear the enemy, then jungler goes mid and solo goes back to lane.
duo/mid: either split red/back (if you have a mage/hunter with strong clear) or just do red. mid to lane. duo to boars then lane.

1.1.1 - Optional/Variant openings
Mid camp start: solo/jungler start at mid camps then go to blue or yellow (discuss this prior to the game - depends on if you think blue/yellow will get invaded). Solo goes to lane, jungler tries to meet mid to take other mid camp.

1.2 - Current "Top Tier" Picks (sorted by most recent)

1.3.0 - Core builds

Playings are leaning towards any combination of these items for defense:
  • Breastplate of Valor
  • Bulwark of Hope
  • Winged Blade
These items are pretty much the best bang for your buck for health, protections, and CDR. Obviously you should counter-build appropriately, but when in doubt for defensive items, grab Urchin, or Bov+Bulwark, or all three if you really want to be tanky. Winged Blade is more of a situational/niche pick and combos with various strats (buy Rank 1 boots then build into Winged Blade) but has some of the most efficient health-for-cost you can get.

 BoV and Bulwark nerfed as of Patch 3.3  but people are still getting them.

1.3.1 - Jungler
:siren:SPEED BUFF IS BACK:siren: as of the Perfect Storm patch

Spin-off from what was listed in 1.3.0 - a typical jungler start would be Bumba's, Warrior Boots, Jotunn's, then the above defensive items (BoV+Bulwark usually in that order to get CDR maxed first on ability junglers).

For AA-junglers, Stone-Cutting Sword is a must for penetration shredding, and it's got movement speed which every jungler wants.

:rip: Red Pot opening still exists and is a thing. :rip:

1.3.2 - Hunter
:rip: TD/GBow meta :rip:

tl;dr -
Warrior Tabi and Ichaival are pretty much core on almost all hunters. If you can't decide, go with these items first. Lifesteal item is either Asi (with Transcendence) or Devo, then get either Qin's or a crit item (Wind Demon for it's low cost), then Titan's Bane/Exec Axe. Finish your build with Qin's if you haven't yet, or more crit items.

Trans Build:
  • Transcendence
  • Warrior Tabi
  • Ichaival
  • Asi
  • Wind Demon(or Qin's)
  • Exec Axe/Titan's Bane/more crit items
Sell Ichaival late game for Qin's or another crit item. "Zapman build" has Qin's AND 2-3 crit items, so sell Ichaival for more of these late game items.

What about stacking Devo gloves?
Most players are skipping this because it takes too long to stack for what it does (compared to Transcendence which gets an instant boon off your base mana). Hunters that don't favor Transcendence (Rama) are starting Death's Toll into boots/Ichaival then standard hunter builds (Asi, Qin's, Titan's Bane, Crit items, etc). However, this does that mean Devo's is bad: the meta is just favoring ability clearing hunters to maintain early pressure. You can still pick up Devo's on Jing Wei/Apollo but you'll need to play a passive early game since you'll most likely be getting out-cleared by the enemy hunter.

In regards to the Devo glove build, same as Transcendence except swap out Asi with Qin's, crit, or penetration item.

1.3.3 - Support
Heartward is falling out of favor but Sovereignty is back due to recent buffs.

Supports are going for the core items listed in 1.3.0 then counter-building appropriately, or eventually picking up Sov/Heartward later (ie-rush Urchin/Winged Blade to shore up extra health/protections, then grab Sov/Heartward).

1.3.4 - Mid
Get Soul Stone, rush Doom Orb, receive kills. Pick a mobile/safe god (Scylla, Janus) and build straight into other heavy-hitting power items (Soul Reaver, Spear of Desolation) and 2-3 shot people.

Otherwise, standard mage openings still apply (Vamp Shroud + tiny trinket/lost artifact + potions).

1.3.5 - Solo
See above core build in 1.3.0. Build BoV or Bulwark depending on who your opponent is. People seem to be rushing boots first item after getting starter item (usually Bluestone).

Warriors are still dominating solo lane (with a few high sustain exceptions like Camazotz) and are now picking up Wrath to invade and secure jungle buffs. Current meta is keeping enemy solo laner down by taking their jungle/buffs (aka "EGR/Divios" meta).

1.3.6 - Other Openings
:qq: Invades with Wrath are running rampant in SWC :qq: Look for this playstyle to bleed into the end of Season 3 and early Season 4

I sincerely hope this year will be focusing in game balance and won't introduce any broken, overpowered gods that require a ban every single game ever to avoid one team winning by default
Not that that's ever happened, right? Right...?

The PTS Round 3 Changes are quite interesting so far! I like that Xing Tian's root is replaced by a slow. Yet I hate it because I liked doing that.

Caaaaaaaan do!

The whole second half of the second post is going to get revised. A lot of players have changed their roles.

edit-
Everyone feel free to point out if any players in the Twitch list needs to get changed. I didn't write down all the roster changes after SWC so I'm going off of just memory.

Or if anyone wants to suggest more to add, please do!

I have a question about Amaterasu's 2. If you charge up the mirror by hitting/getting hit, does it deal full damage potential damage if you shoot it off early, or do you have to charge up the meter then let the ability shoot off automatically?

Once the meter is charged from dealing/receiving damage, it does the full double damage regardless of if you fire it early or not.

The only downside of firing it early (after fully charged) is you lose the damage mitigation.

Is He Bo really as horrible as he seems? From playing around with him clearly you're supposed to be in short range spamming your 1s and building somewhat tanky, but in practice he just gets easily torn to shreds. What am I missing?

His 1 doesn't actually go on cooldown until about a second or so after you cast it, making the listed 3 second cooldown really deceptive. His 3 also roots you while you're casting it what the gently caress.

He Bo can be tricky, he is the very definition of glass cannon burst mage. His damage goes up with each spell he casts, if he hits his full 2-3-1-Ult combo he can completely delete someone(s) 100-0 in a few seconds. However he dies as soon as someone looks at him. Very risk vs reward.

He's not that popular right now cause Janus can do about as much burst damage while also having portals to escape with.

As kerrrrr noted, he's a glass cannon don't build him tanky. Late game his 1 and 3 will be doing 800-1000 each. Because it's a knock-up his 3-1-4 combo (or even just 3-4 late game) can kill someone before they can even use actives. The short cooldown on his 1 can turn fights in spectacular fashion. His 3 is really the key to outplaying/winning duels, it's very powerful but as you noted it roots you so missing is basically a lost fight. All of this adds up to an all-in god, you're not going anywhere once you engage, but if you can land your 3s and stay alive long enough to abuse your 1's cooldown you can completely carry a team fight.

Other mages are a generally better choice but he's fun.

Hebo is hard as poo poo to get away with playing but you get rewarded with one of the best voice packs in the Hebro skin. VEJ.

If you do want to play him it helps to really be on the ball with your actives, since he is so all in you have to beads something clutch and aegis an ult or blink in and delete someone and hit a couple other people with your ult. Sometimes you end up being a suicide Hebo and you just have to get your damage off before you get murdered and hope your team cleans up.

I think of Hebo and Anubis similarly, I want them to be buffed somehow but with the damage output they have its hard to say how without making them OP.

Invite sent, you have 72 hours to accept.

He Bo is more assassin than mage because he lacks good area clear. He's like Ne Zha in the sense that his ult is also his escape, and whether you hit it or not you can still potentially be put in a bad position and end up dying.

They're both super fun to play though.

Here's a tier list I made going into Season 3 as of the Round 3 notes to create some discussion:

Preference is ranked left to right (as in the ones furthest from the left would be preferred picked over gods at the right end of the tier).

And here's my reasoning behind the rankings:

S (overpowered)
Ao Kuang didn't need defensive buffs, the beads nerf alone makes him scary. He's supposed to be a super high risk, high damage, first strike god. The fact that he can re-initiate, with the idiotic lifesteal buff off his execute, AND the added bonus of Spear of Desolation is loving absurd. Pretty much if you are in a lane and forced to use beads (if you're against any of the cc-heavy gods in the S- tier), he will kill you flat out. And get away with it.

S- (top pick/ban)
Ares through Fenrir are gods I do not want to be up against. If you happen to get caught with your cc-immunities off cooldown, you will die to these gods. Sol through Amaterasu are gods that are super safe and/or have bloated kits; basically these gods can fit in almost any comp and be fine on their own (drag and drop them into any comp - you don't need to baby sit them).

A+ (Next in line after picks/bans)
Top choice gods. Either safe (multiple cc/damage immunities in their kits) or super slippery. Good/high damage throughout all phases of the game. If the enemy team decides to 4 or 5-man rotate and try to gank, they MIGHT still be able to get away. Guardians that can save teammates well (can give more forms of cc/damage immunities) are preferred over the guardians on the right side of the list that can't. Gods in this tier can also shift to S- if the player is very good. The assassins in this tier have the potential to take out multiple people in a team fight with not too much trouble.

A
Pinnacle point of balance. Not overpowered but not bad in the hands of a good player. Either has a safe kit, has a good set up potential, or is very versatile. This one was hard to put in order because they have unique strengths/weaknesses (Xbalanque has cc-immunity in his dash but it's conditional). They're just OK and in the hands of an expert player they might only bump up to A+.

A-
Risky gods, and/or gods require a team composition built around them, and/or gods that are specific counter picks to other comps. Gods that have little or no cc-immunities. Basically you can't just drag and drop this god in any game. Gods placed in here either benefit from the beads nerf, or are screwed because of it. I put He Bo over the other mages because although he has bad clear, he has cc-immunity in his ult; compare this to Poseidon/Iss/Ra who if they're aggressive and push the lane, they can get caught out and ganked easily. He Bo on the other hand might get away and even counter-gank if he nails someone in his ult; also Spear of Desolation is very scary on him. Most warrior are in here because they lack consistent hard cc - they just sort of exist in team fights.

B
High risk, or unsafe gods that you need to babysit, or gods that don't really bring much to the table, or they have just 1 or 2 glaring weakness that prevents them from moving up a tier (Chang'e incredibly weak early game). Just one S- tier god is enough to potentially take some of these gods (2 or more S- means they will almost always die in lane). In general, a god is in here if you think any gods from the upper tiers can do something they can do better or safer.

C
Arachne suffers from what she's always suffered with her rekit: incredibly strong 1v1 boxer but her team fight presence is weak. She's similar to Thanatos in that he's strong early and falls off late, but at least Thanatos can execute people and snowball fights due to his passive (-5s to cooldowns on god kills). Conversely if Arachne kills someone in a team fight, she struggles to kill another person afterwards.
Bacchus my man...even with Meditation being viable, the lack of immunities and more reliable hard cc is just too weak. Sure he's got great damage but so does Ares, and at least Ares can set up a deicide.

side note-
Man this list is kind of hard to make. Even while typing after making the list I had to think about and second-guess some of my choices. But whatever, the choice is made. The traveler has come.

Does Xing Tian in S- take in account him losing his root? I was discussing that change with a friend last night and we agreed that losing his non-ultimate CC was a severe blow to him.

Boss, if they make us find seven lost crystals, I'm quitting.

I don't think Xing will change at all until they finally hit his damage.

cyclonic
Dec 15, 2005

Xing has a bloated kit and I feel the "tank meta" problem still exists on him: his HP5 passive with defensive items makes him super tanky, and with the %damage on his roar he can still do substantial damage - the problem being %damage actually scales up as the game progresses as people get more health.

Sure the less cc on him is good, but he still does too much.

The potential to deicide a team from his ult plus these other factors are why I kept him in S- tier.

The recent CDR nerfs might have hit him as well, but it hit a lot of gods. I'm still unsure how some of the ability gods are faring right now because of it.

edit-
Also wanted to add: compare his roar to Ares' chains: both deal %damage but Ares requires three successive narrow skill shots to maximize his damage, whereas Xing gets a nice wide straight line. Also Xing is annoyingly slippery for a guardian.
