I mostly go by the belief that Ghostbusters 1 was a pretty good, reasonably memorable comedy, the second wasn't that great but was okay

it didn't need to rebooted and and any reboot regardless of cast was probably gonna be bad, and i'm probably gonna be right

like if they really are remaking Alien with a dude, that's gonna suck just by virtue of being a modern reboot of a franchise that was originally good because a unique combination of talents brought together at the right time that cannot likely be replicated

you only think ghostbusters 1 was "pretty" good and "reasonably" memorable?? thats the most offensive thing ive seen posted itt

Gostbusters was good because of the theme song, the actors, and some good cinematography and design that made it memorable. also historically because it was one of the first big 'summer movies' and was relevant at the time. like most 80s snl crew movies the plot is paper-thin but nobody cares

Ghostbusters 2 was pretty bad, with a handful of good parts. mostly bad, though.

new ghostbusters will probably be boring and bad and nobody will care (except the studio lol). even the actors already seem pretty checked out from the start

new aliens will suck because aliens was like the citizen kane of 80s action movies and its been so heavily copied its going to be hard to do anythign that doesnt now come off as trite

A reboot or sequel could be good but why bother? They are literally just selling childhood back to 40 year olds, I don't think there's any real attempt at film making here. This thing is put together by scientists and market analysts to extract maximum dollar per memory unit.

Of course the logo is the end bad guy. It had to be that or the Marshmallow Man or Slimer. What else could it be? Nostalgia doesn't work well when you mix it up with new characters or ideas.

It will be considered a success and there will be sequels and predictable video game tie ins.

This movie will make a fat profit and the merchandising will be very lucrative.

Lego Ghostbusters (original and new) is practically a given. Every mom will want a coffee mug with sassy buster's famous catchphrase "Suck My Hairy Box You Shitcock Ghostball".

Just another reason to question why they feel the need to remake it, female leads or no.
Apart from FRANCHISE CASH for the studio obviously.

imo this is a pretty good rundown on what made the original GB good

http://commentarama.blogspot.ca/2009/08/film-friday-ghostbusters-1984.html

there's no reason a movie built around a bunch of broads can't have the same but lol that would take talent and effort and why bother when your product is critic-proof by design

Yeah they've been doing teaser trailers or pre-launch campaigns before the actual trailer comes out for decades now. Here's one from 1978:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65GVp8fErGI

These days the actual trailers are such big news (or the production houses try to convince everyone that they're big news) that they tease the trailer release dates
