Once more we set sail for the 41st Millennium, were a group of freaks and misfits are arriving at footfall. they are part of a Rogue Trader dynasty - a noble house given immense power to expand the Imperium of Man (and make huge piles of cash on the side.) - that is down on its luck and almost bankrupt.
Can the new Rogue Trader bring the house back to glory? Well, I say "New" - He will be the Rogue Trader, as soon as he steals the family ship back!

There is not much more I can put into the OP - the players are going to introduce their own characters, so all that is left for me to say is that this is using Fantasy Flights Rogue Trader rules. its a Pen and Paper RPG which we are playing via the Fantasy Grounds virtual table top. as Rogue Trader is a creaky and old system now, we are using a few combat tweaks from Only War, but mostly its going to be getting lost in the Warp and going insane.

Our last Rouge Trader game was great, this one already looks like its going to surpass that - we have a much better idea of what we are doing, and the Characters are a lot weirder.

Here is the Rogue Trader Vessel.

Don't ask where he got it. Although he can get you three more if you ask him nicely.

Yeah, as long as this lot stay away from the main bodies of the Imperium, they should be fine.
Of course, as GM, its my job to bring the full attention of those said powers upon them!

While I do appreciate it, there's either some fairly big coincidences or a lot of it's been 'lifted' from an old Saturday Night Live skit with a lot of the same dialogue and delivery (the front fell off there too)
I'm pretty sure 'that's the joke', but for me that makes it on the level of parodying a Monty Python skit; Amusing, impressive when done this 'smoothly', but not as impressive as making a skit of your own.

We're working up to it! This is out first pre-planned skit. First we steal stuff, Next time we will come up with out own stuff!

I'm glad people are enjoying these. I know there is not much to comment on normally, but its nice to hear back occasionally - Although people watching these things is not the main reason to do it of course - we'd play if no one was watching, but its nice to be able to entertain someone now and again.

I have a few nice things planned for this week - I'm sleep deprived and had a terrible week at work, (plus part of a tooth fell out today and I've got to wait a month for a NHS appointment. No pain, but its left a jagged edge in my mouth.) - So I plan on throwing up what I hope is a challange and watching them trivilize it.

Well, I know my viewing figures, but how they relate to numbers watching is hard to gauge - Rogue trader videos get about 150 views in a week, That may be 150 different people, or it may be 75 people watching the videos in two shots (average viewer retention 13 minutes) or it could be one guy watching the videos 150 times each. Youtube doesn't seem to have the stats for number of individual viewers.

On that count, how is the video length for people - the stats seem to say most people watch 13 minutes, but I'm assuming that's a bunch of people watching the whole 30 mins and then a slightly higher number of people clicking on the video, watching thirty seconds, going "this is poo poo" then shutting the video down in disgust.

I am closing in on 1,200 subsribers however, which is not bad seeing as I'm a nobody compared to some of the other RPG channels out there (a certain channel that has a certain ex si-fi actor hosting and can pay to have people who can actually act come to mind.)

Veloxyll posted:

The really quick synopsis:

Wenderslaus and his crew of misfits reclaimed the house Flagship from said Trader's Brother, though doing so depleted much of what remained of the Family fortune.
Current crew includes:
A Tau trade delegate
An Ork Weirdboy
A Psyker who wishes he was a priest
A Techpriest who has two brains and is a frog. One of his brains is a psyker.
And the other assorted oddballs that Rogue Traders tend to attract

They engaged in the traditional exploration work of Rogue Traders, and during a miscalculated Warp Jump, found the wreck of their own flagship and recovered 1x Alien Artifacts.
The wreckage is now forming the core platforms of a deep space trading outpost known as "The Wreak".

They then entered into a mercenary contract to supply troops and collect salvage from the system Lucien's Breath. A mining colony producing Nephilum for Rogue Trader Lord Winterscal that was being harried by another Rogue Trader.

With a cargo of Nephilum smuggled off world, they travelled to the War World, Zayth, known for its fighting cities, intending to trade this Promethium enhancing fluid. Instead they were invited to dinner with the Lord of one of these cities, who poisoned the command crew, and attending nobility. When the trader found out, his crew responded in the traditional fashion, but still had the problem of a fatal poison in their bloodstream that would seriously inhibit their ability to enjoy their walking war-city.

They found where the poison was produced, and were able to synthesise sufficient quantities of antidote to survive, after battling both a giant rock-worm, and a pack of shark dogs, the latter from which they made cloaks.

On returning to civilised space, they liberated a large freighter and traded its navigators for a set of navigational charts. In order to reduce competition in the area, they also learnt of, and assaulted, a pirate outpost, capturing two ships, and driving off or destroying the rest.

Among the pirates holdings was an archeotech laden pre-imperial world, with Men of Iron guards on a vault in the Warp. Despite the near death experience by the captain, they managed to loot several treasures from the vault without causing a demonic incursion. While a crashed starship was also identified, they had to away to Lucien's Breath to deliver another load of infantry.

At Lucien's Breath, they found the system under attack by the aformentioned, totally not Chaos Worshiping we promise guys, Rogue Trader, and, with 30% of the planetary forces, plus a hold full of more troops, plus whatever ground forces the other trader has amassed, Lord Captain Wenderslaus decided that this was the correct time to betray Lord Winterscale and they joined the attacking force.

Their pair of cruisers were met by 3 enemy cruisers and a wing of destroyers, and despite a bold charge against the flagship of the enemy squadron, they were only able to cripple and drive off the defending cruisers, instead of capturing one as they desired.

Also Winterscale has put out a significant bounty upon their heads for their sudden but inevitable betrayal.

TL:DR Version. Black Crusade Here we come.
