THE LONG WALK 13: April Fools  so what's this then this is where you get to do something about writing that novel you've always had inside you and can finally get all the sounds cool how does it work round about the first day of every month I put a thread up and you post in it to say how much new writing you're gonna post by 2359 PST on the last day of that month. there might be a little general leeway at the end of the month, but don't count on it and don't ask for extensions. lol imma post one word 'lol' there I won lol there's a 4k word minimum. you can pledge more if you like, but 4k is the ante. how many terrible words have been written through this thread and the ones before it? 1,750,000. Some of them might have been good? idk what happens if I gently caress it up every promise has to have a  attached. you fail, you get banned.how should I post my stuff up to you, but a link to a gdoc with comments enabled is best that way you won't restrict your publication options later. can I do short stories sure. I've hit my goals for words and subs, but I'm gonna take the last week to run up the score on my word count. At this rate, I should have the first draft of my first novel done by the end of May. Also, two (holy poo poo, two!) of my subs got accepted this month on the same day. (Thankfully not the same story!)

ok so td: tremulous 499 words arc 1211 words hex 1538 words blood nexus II 1714 words i wrote this which is 2198 words when i opened my book thing this month it was basically 25k.  i said id do 10k so yeah

First chunk is here Second chunk in somewhere in here  That involves some revising, editing, rewriting, etc. but at least 6,000 words happened there. I also wrote about 2,000 words of garbage that I deleted out of spite. Even so, 16,000 > 15,000 so goal status: achieved.

Ok! Starting word count on the novel this month was 63,344. Now at 78,816. Grand total of 15,472 words. Just over 11,000 words until my target for the first draft.  Subs for this month at exactly 10.

Uhh I guess I'm nearly 30 and can't keep track of what day it is? All new words for a new, half-finished book.  About 32k of those are April's words for a finished book. Things are getting better.
