Outcast is a new TV show launching on June 3 and airing every friday after that on CINEMAX, bastion of great original programming like Banshee and The Knick. Robert Kirkman is adapting from his own comic book series (with artist Paul Azaceta), about Kyle Barnes, a man whose loved ones are involved in demonic possession since his childhood. As an adult, with the help of a reverend, he tries to unveil what lies behind the supernatural manifestations and why he seems to carry special peculiarities. Watch the pilot, directed by indie horror favorite Adam Wingard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBRe2ITyMxw atrus50 fucked around with this message at 19:54 on May 21, 2016 |

Ok, sold. An exorcist series is something this world needs.

The power of childpunching compels you! Would watch more, though I can't imagine how it'll proceed without either rapidly expanding the premise beyond Exorcism stories, or becoming an Exorcism of the week type dealie.

meh thought it was kind of lame, its a lot like the new x files episodes. Defiantly way more of a normal cable show than banshee.

Anyone else watching this? The pilot was really good I thought, but the second episode was kind of ehhhhh. Hopefully it wasn't just Wingard's direction that made the pilot because he isn't doing any other episodes from what I can see. Tentatively looking forward to tonights episode.

Totally forgot this was on. I liked the first episode so I'll give it my normal 3 episode trial run.

I liked the pilot a lot and the 2nd ep was pretty good too. On the 5th episode now and nearly finished with this show - just not finding it as compelling as those first couple of episodes, mostly due to the lack of interest in any of the subplots. The Reverend is also a v. bad character.

In contrast to the cop character, who actually becomes endearing in a cop-like way

Watched the first 3 minutes on youtube and turned it off. So I could binge the 6 episodes in 1080

Almost done with ep5 and this is enough questions being thrown around, I want some answers already. Last time I stuck around for a show having this much random stuff happening was Lost and that didn't make me happy at all.

The show is much better at developing the characters tho, and meanders quite a bit hitting each of the plot points.

I guess I'm the only one watching this and I'm not really sure why I still am either. It wasn't until episode 10 when I finally realized why I only watch this when having nothing else to watch and it's that none of the characters are at all interesting and most are extremely grating. The Reverend just repeatedly keeps making the same lovely mistakes episode after episode. I honestly thought him assaulting the kid in front of his mom was going to be some elaborate hoax where he and the mom were in on it together to get the kid to talk to her while he was kicked out but nope. Just more of the Rev being a loving idiot. Black sheriff cop started out okay until he made it abundantly clear he's willing to be corrupt as gently caress for his friends and for a cause that he's never actually seen any proof of its existence. If my friend told me he needed to keep beating the poo poo out of people because of demons I'd want to see some proof before I went along with that. Not that anybody cares but I'm probably done after 10 episodes. All the questions that were interesting to me in the 3-4th episodes I no longer care about finding out answers to. Just boring.

Kirkman is not great at having a point and makes a lot of baffling/frustrating decisions about the direction to take his stories. I watched a few episodes of this. The pilot was good. After that, it rapidly lost its way and I personally found my way to Stranger Things instead and have since deleted the remaining episodes of Outcast from my PVR because it just felt like it would be a slog, especially after having just finished ST.
