the director for flip flappers mostly done key animation before now, but he has credits for working on a ton of shows including an episode of gurren lagann (not episode 4), animation director for five episodes of dennou coil, and key animation for a letter to momo, the wind rises and evangelion 2.0. he also directed the episode of space dandy s2 where dandy gets stranded in a fishing village and befriends a little girl, where iirc he apparently did a ton of work on animating it himself the animation director's also got pretty solid credits, working as a key animator on a bunch of shows including bakemonogatari, fujiko mine, half of mawaru penguindrum, madoka rebellion and even the same episode of space dandy. he's worked on a huge pile of stuff and not all of it is great, but the highlights of what he's worked on are definitely really stylish and beautiful. gimme the GOD drat candy posted:no matter what you want to call it, it still usually sucks this is a lame view, especially when like the filler stuff in og sailor moon arguably makes it the best version in terms of building the cast and even outside of that makes for some of the funniest episodes anime original stuff can be a huge plus if it's good, which outside of shonen shows stalling for time it usually is

i didn't care about the dark supernatural organization stuff in soushin shojo matoi but i really liked all of the stuff with matoi and her friends cause it was really colorful and fun and had cool character animation the two gags at the end were, uh, weird, though

matoi gets groped by her dad because her magical girl form looks like her mom, and then she gets stranded naked in the forest because she doesn't transform back wearing any clothes the first one is kind of hosed up and the second one would just be strange on its own but it comes off even worse because it follows immediately after that. it sucks because nothing that bad happens in the rest of the episode, it's just two really lousy gags right at the end
