Yeah, I feel like part of the setting is to allow then have an aggressive, expansionist "Germany" without the horror of the holocaust. Just....the regular horrors of war.

So, honest question then what is wrong with that translation? "you, the witch, is the hero who saved the country" "you the heroic witch saved Eylstadt" "You're the witch that saved us! A true hero!" e: i think i'm crabby this morning. But, i honestly don't feel any nuance or meaning was lost there.
