straight up brolic posted:I always thought that the Raptors have p good ball movement outside of Derozan. They always pass the Clippers to death when we play them There was an infographic that made the rounds last year showing the top 4 or 5 teams and how they succeeded in some important factors like passing and whatever. This was the one where it was hard to see the Warriors because they were basically coextensive with the outer boundary. Anyway, the Raptors were almost equally hard to see, because they barely made it out past the centre.

Jota posted:He's super weird because he has some clear potential defensively and has done some good stuff but his size gives such limitations that you wonder how much he can improve. Also he's so bad offensively. Like if he could just catch the ball and finish consistently he'd be fine at least but he still has issues with that. I have no clue what his value is, especially considering he's a RFA after the year so he's gonna get a big raise. The Raptors took a point guard in the first round two drafts ago, so I wonder if they feel like Delon is capable of being the backup PG now. If they do think Delon is ready, it makes sense to move Joseph for an upgrade at PF. But, like, if Delon is ready.

Valanciunas is out tonight with a bruised knee that swelled up. Apparently the knee has been bad for a while, which may explain why Poeltl was getting so much play the other day. Anyway, excited for the Raptors to roll Poeltl/Bebe at the 5 today.

DeimosRising posted:I remembered the replay I was talking about, it was actually almost a decade ago (Jesus Christ), the Hawks and Heat had to replay the last minute of a game because the refs fouled Shaq out when he only had 5 fouls. A similar thing happened with the Pels/Kings game this year but they caught it at halftime and had them replay the time after the break. The Hawks-Heat game they took off both teams' records until later in the year. Wasn't there a (Vancouver) Grizzlies - Lakers game where the Staples Centre paused the clock until Shaq hit a game-winning shot, and the Grizzlies somehow didn't even get an admission that something went wrong on appeal?

He has no offensive game to speak of aside from garbageman type stuff but he has decent touch around the basket and surprisingly good chemistry with Lowry. He's basically a rookie big man, so you can't judge him yet. Also his nickname is Long Weeknd which is probably the best nickname in the NBA right now.

Lockback posted:If you're good enough to get to the ECF you are in a pretty good spot. You need some luck or guys catching fire but that can happen. Lots of people considered the Mavericks a tier below true contender the year they won it, even last year lots of people gave Cleveland no chance until GSW started looking vulnerable in the playoffs. I get that, and this is an easy team to love, but bumping up against that ceiling is always going to be grating. And it would make dreaming just a little bit easier if Toronto could dent the big four of Cleveland, Golden State, LAC, and Sacramento. Hashtag Banterzone posted:But right now they look like very strong favorites to make the ECF and they have 4 players 25 or younger that look really good in Ross, Jonas, Bebe and Powell. Those dudes are cool, and good, but they don't seem to be the core of anything. There are times I wonder if the plan might even be to trade JV and go with Poeltl/Bebe long term.

tanglewood1420 posted:If Millsap is truly available then Toronto have to make a move for him surely? Lowry/DeRozan/Millsap is clearly better than anyone outside Cleveland in the East and if one of Love or Kyrie gets injured you'd have a puncher's chance against the Cavs in a series. If Lebron was hurt I think they'd be better. How much should the Raptors invest on "maybe Cleveland suffers one or more catastrophic injuries?" Because trading for Millsap will probably be expensive for moving them from losing in the ECF to losing in the ECF.
