Bama is in an extremely lovely conference and just struggled to beat a team starting a QB that was the leftovers of the worst team in Michigan's conference. The real question is why the SEC continues to get the benefit of the doubt. Jalen Hurt is going to get shreddded by a non-trash defense and Bama isn't going to hold up against a real QB.

Rivalry game on the road, LSU has a legit defense (6th scoring, 13th by yardage) that's probably quite a bit better than those stats specifically because their offense is so terrible. The Ole Miss game does a better job of making your point I'd think, although even as flawed as he is there aren't a lot of Chad Kelly's hanging around college football.

They're not making a bowl. milk milk lemonade posted:Bama is in an extremely lovely conference and just struggled to beat a team starting a QB that was the leftovers of the worst team in Michigan's conference. The real question is why the SEC continues to get the benefit of the doubt. Jalen Hurt is going to get shreddded by a non-trash defense and Bama isn't going to hold up against a real QB. Hurts is a mediocre true freshman and gets bailed out by his legs and the fact that his receivers are God-tier. That offense will absolutely have a rough day against a Michigan/Ohio State/Clemson that can match up with them athletically, and it may even be worse since I think all three of those teams have better pass rush than LSU. That said, if you think any team is hanging over like 21 on them, I don't know who can actually do that. You'll need an LSU-caliber defensive performance with an offense to boot, which is a small sample. Michigan has the stupid "we run the pro-style offense" issue that Saban will mercilessly break over his knee like every pro-style running game they play. Ohio State's receivers haven't been able to vertically stretch the way they would need to. Clemson maybe could but turns the ball over constantly. I bet Washington could score on them, but I have no confidence in their defense. What I'm saying is, we may not want to overstate the effect of a mediocre offense on the chance for Alabama football given what's happened in the past.

So I decided to be a good friend instead of a good Husker fan this weekend, and attended a good buddy's 40th birthday party on Saturday night. I missed most of the game but regularly checked in, watching reality collapse around Nebraska football. If Tommy is out this week, Nebraska will likely go 1-2 in their next three games, which would be a real bummer way to end a season that felt like some momentum was building. Riley seems to be the kind of coach who gives the keys to the players, to put it on them to stay mature and keep trying to win... that seems to have been pretty effective so far this season, until Saturday, but now we'll see how that strategy works after getting blasted worse than Pelini ever did. Oh well!

I had assumed concussion but I haven't heard anybody actually say that word yet. I guess maybe the monday press conference will have more info.
