Would legitimately rather watch these 2-1 games rather than ever remember that loving 10-0 game.

I don't know anything about Blashill's work (although I'd say Detroit has one of the very worst rosters in the league), but every coach in the league is hated here.

Not remotely true.
Every coach here rides the rollercoaster would be more accurate.

I really thought Eller would fit better there.

Eller's been okay defensively but is generating nothing offensively.

I love Larry, but his main consistently exceptional role is as a 3rd line shutdown centre.

yeah and if he refuses to waive his NMC he can be protected and continue to play as a pittsburgh penguin if murray is selected in the expansion draft

Doesn't he *have* to be protected if he doesn't wave his NMC?

He's still 15 years younger than Jagr. He might not even be halfway done.

He could still be playing in 2030.

Lets face facts: it's totally gonna be Geno playing until 50 if anyone from the current Pens is going to do it.

It helps that there really isn't much good goaltending in the Pacific

They're in first because they've played 3 more games than Anaheim or San Jose, and 4 more than LA.

That there would be five Pacific teams in the playoffs if the season stopped now is what you should be :psyduck:'ing over.
Goddamn the west looks hot garbage right now. Can't wait for that to rectify itself by March.

After many years, I finally made it to my first NHL game tonight. Perfect matchup (Rangers/Devils), perfect result (5-0), even the perfect seating which allowed my gigantic self to use the staircase for leg room. MSG is a great arena and that part of Manhattan could not have been any better. Just awesome. I'm still in awe.

I am legit loving jelly.

Predicting a huge loss at home tonight.

Hopefully not but we'll see.

Will it rival 10-0? Lets find out.

Laine's is a bit more inexplicable just because of how far away from his own net he is. Backstrom at least had the excuse of it being a rebound right in front of the net.

The real reason Backstrom scored is because Cristobal Huet was in net and teams he is goaltending for don't deserve to win.

Something weird is happening where the East isn't the West's open sewer this year.
At least... for now it isn't.

I've heard several talking heads say that it has to do with how Eastern teams are riding the wave of change towards faster teams. Honestly, it probably has more to do with the fact that more of the garbage teams in the league came from the east and those teams now have decent young teams that are able to make a good account for themselves whereas the better Western teams are older and slowing down.

Don't worry, Montreal will continue to drag that curve along.

We've been through the Pacific road trip.
While I'm sure it will all get so much worse, the fact is that it isn't.

A 10 game winning streak is fun but remember when the Capitals won like 13 in February or when the Penguins had an undefeated March, didn't help them any in the playoffs

There's something about a Habs season that comes to mind...
nah never mind, I think I'd remember it if it happened.

Merry Xmas NHLSAS, may all your good players receive pay rises and all your coaches worthy of firing be fired.

Fingers crossed 2017 makes up for lost time with the firing of Therrien.

You should have done what I did and just not watched 95% of the games in the last 2 years.

Speaking of Nylander, I too feel exhausted watching exciting, talented young players make skillful plays and win games. Lou should trade him for I dunno a big young stud defenceman like Cody Ceci.

Or maybe make Vancouver's dreams come true and trade him for a dependable big body presence like Luca Sbisa.

justin schultz's hot streak is certainly something else, he has more points in december than any skater besides crosby and malkin (well, almost - panarin is tied with him). it's really fun to watch and i've been rooting for the guy since he was traded to pittsburgh, but i'm kind of expecting it to all come crashing down for him at any moment. even if the rest of the penguins' defense is dead he's still probably in a better situation than he ever was in edmonton though, given the coaches and forwards around him.

Petry is similar in that he's having a breakout considering he missed a bunch of games, and it's probably got to do with not playing on a team that could charitably be described as "garbage can set on fire".
