Across from you Zinovia Brinnigan, known amongst her grandfathers merchant fleet as "Zyp", takes another long drink from her large glass of wine. It's her fourth since the interview began, and she's declined to offer you any. You're here to volunteer as a senior officer during her expedition to the "Screaming Vortex", a region of space that has never seen the Emperors light, and has been hitherto considered off limits to all Imperial forces. For reasons unknown, Zedekiah Brinnigan, the current holder of the Brinnigan Traders Warrant( an Imperial Charter that goes back to the days of the Great Crusade itself), has decided to mount an expedition into this Throne forsaken realm. While this would otherwise be assumed to be a suicide mission (the Brinnigan fleet was vast. It wasn't unknown for the old koot to throw away the lives of thousands on a lark), he was sending his sole surviving (direct) descendant to head the mission. Surely it couldn't be that risky if he was sending his beloved granddaughter? Sure, they'd had their problems. From a young age 'Zyp' had been a notorious hedonist, and had embarrassed her family name on numerous occasions. Personnel still received whippings every now and again for getting caught with copies of the vids. But that's part and parcel of being a Rogue Trader isn't it? Living it up and wanton excess and all that good stuff? And her reputation as a leader was... well to be honest that was a sore spot too. Sure, she always succeeded. But the body count among the infantry was....a bit high. Excessive maybe. And she consorted a bit too closely with the Xeno mercenaries for anyone's taste. But someone had to, and it was Zedekiahs decision to hire them in the first place. Plus, you're an officer. Not some expendable bilge-rat. You'll be fine. And you'll be a confidante of the next ruler of one of the most prestigious mercantile empires in the Imperium. Well worth a slight risk! So far Zinovia's questions have covered the expected topics. "What kind of skills can you bring to the table." "How long have you served in the Brinnigan fleet" "Are you allergic to Grox meat." So far your answers seem to have made her more and more depressed, and the rate she's been downing wine has accelerated substantially. Finally she turns to the third figure in the room, who has remained motionless and silent in the corner of the room. Frankly you'd assumed he was a statue. 'Zyp' jerks her head your direction, and nearly falls out of her chair. "So?" The figure tilts it's head, the first sign of life it's given since you entered. "They'll do." Zinovia sighs, downs her wine, pours another to the top, and drains half the glass. Washing it down with most of what's left, she then hands you the glass. Burping lightly, she slurs out one last question: "Now then, how loyal are you to the Imperium?" Schizotek fucked around with this message at 08:44 on Jan 18, 2017 |

cc rules go here: So far, 13000 xp. No aliens. For characteristics roll 10 and drop the lowest. You can choose any one row of the Origin Path to make a non-adjacent choice on, then continue the line down from there. For example, jump from Death World to Vaunted and then proceed as normal from there. Pretty standard houserule for #acolyte games, makes it a lot more fun and flexible. 4 Acquisitions, max availability of rare When rolling for wounds, assume you got the max roll. Also, vote for a ship. No stats yet, just a vague description of what it is: "Oh good, ya made it Zyp. Now obviously your grandfather and cousins want nothing but the best for you. And that's why they've decided to give you the pick of the serviceable ships we salvaged from that space hulk we picked up a decade or so back. Remember how you had the great idea to clear out the daemons and genestealers with Orks? Worked like a charm. Granted then we had to go in and clear out the Orks, but all in all a stroke of strategic genius!! Alright now, there's four ships for you and your crew to choose from, dependin on how ya want to take on the Vortex." "The Hulk itself still seems serviceable. Seems like some idiot without any proper understanding of ship design took one of the largest transports in the entire Imperium (5 times as long as the Grand Cruiser we pried off of it), and shoved a bunch of fighter bays, armor, and the odd superweapon into the ship. Room enough for a few million crew, but the most you'll get from your Granddads fleet is a couple hundred thousand at most. Maybe set up a colony somewhere." "A proper Grand Cruiser, that one. Loaded to the teeth with weapons, but seems a bit unstable. But when you sit in the Captains chair you feel like you're unstoppable, and you can pile the skulls of the enemy ten thousand deep. Like the whole world is blood, blood that needs spillin. Could take over a lightly defended system on your own with that bad-boy. Unfortunately whoever owned it last hid some kind of broadcasting unit in there, and we haven't been able to find it. Sends your coordinates and an insulting message to everyone around." "The other ship of the line we pried off the hulk in one piece. Fast for a cruiser, decent armament. Whoever the owner was, he liked to travel in style. Even the ratings have good quarters, and there seems to be cantinas and bars every couple hundred yards or so. The stuff stocked in em was mostly swill. A few hundred years ago, that is. Now it's all aged to perfection! Admirals and governors would literally KILL to have whats stocked in the officers mess! The Gellar field flickers weirdly, though. Neither me or your family like that. No incidents in any of the test runs, though. Take it as is, and it'll save us the resources of refittin it." "Ah the frigate. We don't rightly know who the owner was, but we're guessing another Rogue Trading dynasty is responsible for this....thing. A mixture of archeotech, xenotech, and some good ol fashioned Rogue Trader flair. We'd keep this one, but have two delegations from the Mechanicum. One says we have to destroy it, the other is demanding we turn it over to them. Or you could take it Zyp. No good to us any way you slice it. Not much firepower or crewspace, but it's fast, sneaky, and loaded with goodies." Indicate your preferred ship. If your still not sure about what kind of play style each offers, click the pics. Also keep in mind which ship you're in will kinda set the theme of the game. Schizotek fucked around with this message at 05:17 on Jan 20, 2017 |

omg yes Aloisette Branningan-Wong, would be Rogue Trader. The Wong family were one-time rivals of the Brannigan dynasty, rogue traders of ancient (but not as ancient) lineage and fabulous (but not as fabulous) wealth. Tragically they lost most of their holdings to an Ork invasion through their most profitable trading area and in order to avoid losing the rest to creditors they executed a merger by marriage with their greatest rival. The created distaff branch of the dynasty has existed for centuries as permanent poor cousins, always welcome to serve on ships but never allowed to rule. The Wong warrant still exists in a stasis chamber, waiting for some fortunate descendant with a ship, a crew, and enough moxie to reclaim it. Aloisette is aware of all this, but had never hoped she might be in a position to make the claim herself. This mission, though...dangerous, foolish, high chance of massive losses - even among the officer ranks. Come back from something like this covered in glory and plunder, and maybe an enterprising young schemer could give that dusty old parchment some fresh air for the first time in a few hundred years. Even with all the warnings there's no reward without risk and so she finds herself in close quarters with the true Brannigan heir putting on a show of drunkenness, asking pointless questions and then the statue speaks. It's a testament to years of etiquette training that she doesn't flinch before replying. "Ma'am, my life belongs to the family. My soul belongs to the Emperor. The terms of the warrant means that the orders of the family basically are those of the Emperor, so there's no conflict. If this voyage is going to succeed you'll need an executive officer who's up to the task and who isn't in the direct line of succession watching your back. That's me." pre:Career: Rogue Trader Homeworld: Child of Dynasty Birthright: In Service to the Throne - Born to Lead (200xp) Lure of the Void: Chosen by Destiny - Fated for Greatness Trials and Travails: Darkness - Dark Secret (200xp) Motivation: Fortune Lineage: A Proud Tradition - Heir Apparent (100xp) Characteristics: WS: 50** [40+5+5] BS: 45* [40+5] S: 34 [34] T: 34 [37-3-3+3] Ag: 42* [37+5] Int: 50***[32+3+5+5+5] Per: 40 [34+6] WP: 40* [40-5+5] Fel: 60** [42+5+3+5+5] Wounds: 11 Fate Points: 5 Insanity: 13 Corruption: Skills: Acrobatics (Agi) Awareness (Per) Barter Blather Charm (Fel)+20 (Talented) Ciphers (Int) (Rogue Trader) Command (Fel)+20 Commerce (Int) Common Lore (Int) (Imperium, Rogue Traders,) Deceive (Fel) Dodge (Agi) +10 Evaluate (Int) Literacy (Int) +20 Pilot (Agi) (Space Craft) Scrutiny (Per) Secret Tongue (Int) (Rogue Trader, Underdeck) Speak Language Int) (High Gothic +20, Low Gothic, Trader's Cant) Scholastic Lore (Int) (Astromancy, Tactica Imperialis, Imperial Warrants, Heraldry) Talents: Air of Authority Ambidextrous Dark Soul Decadence Foresight Gunslinger Iron Discipline Jaded Leap Up Melee Weapon Training (Universal) Pistol Weapon Training (Universal) Quick Draw Resistance (Fear) Talented (Charm) Two-Weapon Wielder (Melee, Ballistic) Traits: Dynastic Warrant: +3 Ship Points Honour Amongst One’s Peers: +5 bonus to all Fellowship Tests with offcials of the Imperium and members of the Imperial nobility Unseen Enemy: gain the Enemy Talent; the group is this unseen foe. Grigori Murdoch Lady Zinovia Brannigan of the Honorable Rogue Trader House Brannigan, We of House Murdoch hope this message finds you in good health. We are happy to fulfill your request for a new Navigator, in spite of the short notice. It does not surprise us that your previous Navigator would quit upon learning of your new mission. He who dares, wins. Mapping out new Warp Routes and daring to enter Warp Storms requires a heart utterly without fear. Unlike inferior Navigator Houses, we are happy to provide you with one. That is why we have sent Grigori with this message. We are certain that no other Navigator could be better suited to this mission. We beg you to forgive him his eccentricities, for the pressures of being heir apparent to our house are immense, and he is undeniably quite talented. There is no Navigator in our ranks that we would prefer to see sent into an uncharted Warp Storm than Grigori. That being said, despite his highly important position as our current heir, we consider the safety of the Imperial soul to be the very highest priority. In the event that he should become maddened or corrupt, we would take absolutely no issue with you taking the necessary steps to deal with him. Not that we expect him to fail, of course, because we are confident that your mission is brilliantly planned and will be flawlessly executed, but these things do happen. Better that one should die than all be damned, after all, and in the hypothetical situation that a corrupt madman were to be the heir of our house, well, that would be most disastrous. Why, I can't even imagine what we would have to do to be rid of such a person, in the purely hypothetical event that that were to be the case. In any event, we wish you the best of luck on your venture, Lady Brannigan, and we will await news of you with bated breath. Sincerely, House Murdoch, Navis Nobilite -------- Having passed over the letter from his House personally, Grigori Murdoch of House Murdoch perches awkwardly in the interview chair like an immense, pale spider in a too-small web. Skeletal and well over six feet in height, his presence is disturbing even before you look at his face or hear him speak. His pitch black eyes are glassy and unreadable. Yet despite his apparent frailty, he seems bizarrely vital. His spindly 4-jointed fingers twitch and tap unconsciously against the arms of the chair, and despite his hideous appearance and poor posture, he has been smirking and lucid throughout the entire interview, which is a much better performance than many Navigators are capable of. When the last question comes, he chuckles. It turns into a raspy cackling that goes on far too long. He stomps his feet and slaps one bony hand against the arm of the chair, as though he was just told the finest joke in the world. Finally, after an uncomfortably long time, he calms down and speaks in an unsteady, hoarse voice, brushing tears of laughter away from his nightmare eyes. "Loyal to the Imperium? Oh, yes, yes, yes. I am most loyal to the Imperium, Lady Brannigan. Loyalty is the simplest thing in the world, I think. You are the Captain, the one I answer to without question. You are of a Rogue Trader dynasty, and you act in its name. And Rogue Trader dynasties draw their power from sacred writs passed down from the Imperium itself. Authority is transitive, Lady Brannigan. So far as I am concerned, you ARE the Imperium. Your word is law, straight from the Emperor's mouth. So yes, I am loyal. I am loyal to you. Point me to a place, and I will bring you there or die trying. Will there be any further questions, or may I be excused to prepare my quarters?" Those are are all really tempting, but my vote's on B: Grand Cruiser. Just flying around broadcasting COME AT ME BRO to every chaos dude in the universe. pre:Career: Navigator (Renegade House) Homeworld: Void-Born Birthright: Unnatural Origin (Tainted by the Warp) Lure of the Void: Tainted (Insane) Trials and Travails: High Vendetta (Free Choice) Motivation: Prestige Lineage: A Long and Glorious Tradition (Heir Apparent) Characteristics: WS: 33 (33) BS: 39 (39 +5 Advance) S: 31 (36 -5 Homeworld) T: 40 (39 +3 Lure -2 Mutation) Ag: 40 (40) Int: 45 (40 +5 Advance) Per: 56 (43 +3 Birthright +10 Advance) WP: 67 (42 +5 Homeworld +20 Advance) Fel: 33 (39 -3 Birthright -3 Lure) Wounds: 14 (13 +1 SC) Fate Points: 4 Insanity: 16 (+15 Lure +1 Renegade) Corruption: 4 (+1 Birthright +3 Renegade) Skills: Awareness +20 Common Lore (Navis Nobilite) Contortionist Dodge +10 Forbidden Lore (Navigators, Warp +20) Inquiry Intimidate +20 Literacy Navigation (Stellar +10, Warp +10) Pilot (Spacecraft) (U) Psyniscience +20 Scholastic Lore (Astromancy) +10 Secret Tongue (Navigator) Speak Language (High Gothic, Low Gothic, Ship Dialect) Trade (Astrographer) +10 Talents: Autosanguine Dark Soul Disturbing Voice Foresight Heightened Senses (Sight) Jaded Meditation Melee Weapon Training (Primitive) Navigator Paranoia Peer (The Insane) Pistol Weapon Training (Universal) Resistance (Fear, Psychic Powers) Sprint Talented (Contortionist, Navigate (Warp), Psyniscience) Warp Sense Navigator Powers: Lidless Stare (Master, Renegade Bonus) Immolate the Soul (Master, Renegade Bonus) Stacking the Deck (Not yet taken, just on here to mark it for a future Renegade Bonus) Traits: Charmed: Roll 1d10 when spending a FP, not lost on a 9. Falkine Vissitta Oges Oges Navigator Assessment posted:FV Oges is unsuited to regular ship contracts. While certainly proficient in their duties, they are also prone to interfering with the crew and encouraging immoral behaviour. Recent heroic actions aboard the Grateful Burden were likely fuelled by reckless over-estimation of their abilities rather than bravery or loyalty. Fearlessness and a strong will are excellent qualities in any Navigator , but this sort of vainglorious attitude is not what most Captains want in their Navigator. Not the sort of person we want advertising our House or risking our clients, but perhaps a refusal to consider the odds and a taste for combating the unholy is what your expedition needs. Yours if you want them. Falkine sweeps in, looking every inch a Scintillan courtier washed up from the latest escapade, and almost looking like a normal human except for the solid black eyes and conspicuously shaped head covering. The lack of liquor service is a classic power play designed to leave the supplicant sober and uncomfortable in an unfamiliar environment, but one easily countered by those experienced in courtly skulduggery. Falkine brought her own drinks to the interview. "Oh, what a horrible fate it was to be born as myself, in House Oges - caught at the tail end of a spate of healthy, acceptable births, minimal mutation and madness, little assassination. You know what's almost as bad as not enough Navigators? Too many Navigators. What to do with them? Putting them out to work on new ships sounds obvious, but it isn't that simple, it upsets all the lovely little balances and traditions we have in place. A little House is supposed to stay little or get big slowly, not jump straight up by dominating the sector with a new generation, it upsets everyone else. So while we waited for opportunities to arise, some people to die, that sort of thing, I was left to entertain myself in the courts. Scintilla? Lovely place. Do you know the Aubergon family? Well, there's such a stereotype that Navigators have to be these horrible twisted figures, lurking in the shadows with their extraneous limbs and dripping flippers, atrophying their social skills and generally being weird. Yes, we don't usually let them out to scare the good people, but they do have to meet governors and captains occasionally. So my role was to meet and greet the elite, working my way up from making appointments with the Deputy Liaison to Navigator Houses until I was leading a gang of heirs from a dozen planets. They just needed some direction in life, and I gave it to them. The parties! The scandals! There was even a little fashion trend to imitate my eyes at one point, most used eyedrops or contact lenses but I know at least one got new bionics. Still, as much as I loved the luxuries of the court I felt that my talents were being wasted on it. So I applied a little pressure, a few hints, some choice sabotage - just to make it clear that in the long term it really wouldn't be suitable to keep me there, or else I'd find new ways to entertain myself." "They got the picture and I was placed on a new cargo ship - not too prestigious but someone had to do it. A few runs across Calixis, then through the Maw to the Koronus, pick up some valuable goods and back again to market in the Malfian. I talked the seller at Footfall into a 10% discount and I didn't even know what I was buying. So on the way back I was guiding it perfectly well through the conduit but the passage writhed - like a mouth clamping down. Instead of clear sailing to the next Station of Passage we got caught in a swell and drifted into the storm wall of the Screaming Vortex. And believe me, it's a wall - a living, churning wall of warpstuff that's about as soft and yielding as a running chainsword. Apt name by the way - there's a lot of screaming - we bounced off the side of the Vortex and the Gellar cracked for a moment. Everyone was seeing rainbows or hearing each other think. Then since nothing bad ever happens alone, a whole bunch of daemons burst in, some of them jumping into crew, some of them trying to possess equipment, but a lot of others just stomping around trying to eat people directly. You know the rest, it's in the after-action report. I heroically held the bridge from daemonic incursions until the armsmen could finish blasting them away. They had to put down a lot of the crew and jettison a lot of the cargo, but the ship made it out intact and I got out without a scratch. You'd think that would get me some positive recognition, but someone's trying to use this to keep me off my family's contracts. Nobody will touch me. It might be years before I get shipwork again, and I don't feel like going back to court anytime soon. It's boring and my preferred lifestyle can't be supported on such a meagre allowance, you know how it is." "So why should I get to go along on your little expedition? I'm very good at what I do. I can guide the ship, fight daemons and wyrds, talk my way past tithe collectors, heretics and madmen, that's what I've done and I'll do it again. What the after-action report didn't say is that when we scraped along the side of the Vortex I listened in. I know it's more than just a swirl of warp-ghosts, because beneath all that screaming there's just a faint whisper of something else. Ships? Planets? Whatever it is, there's people in there, or something like people. Maybe even xenos. And that's why you're going in, there's profit to be made, or heroics, or something in between. And if you're going in that means you have a path through the storm wall, or you have a plan to find one. I want in. It would be a waste of my talents otherwise." "Oh, the Imperium? Imperium's great. Ozubran "Oz", Former Kabalite Warrior of the now dead Dark Light Kabal, Corsair, Mercenary, and seeker of vengeance. Ozubran sits across from Zyp, trying his best to hide the look of absolute ridiculousness from his face; regretting ever having removed his helmet. Here Zyp had a Dark Eldar Warrior, answering a missive from her Grandfather for troops, and she has the gaul to interview him? Most Captains of ill repute (which if rumors were true Zyp was one of) would have jumped at the chance to have such a warrior, no questions asked. "Well madame," Ozubran says in a heavily accented, yet grammatically correct low gothic, "I have worked for your grandfather before, well not directly. He has employed Eldar mercenaries before, mostly Corsairs, and I have spent most of the last several years with an outcast Corsair vessel that your Grandfather has hired on a few occasions to harass rival rogue traders interests. We had always been successful, in no small part to me. I am very good at killing." Ozubran briefly flashes back to his time on the Corsair ship. The ship was mostly outcast and Exodite craftworlders, Ozubran was one of only a handful of Dark Eldar on the ship. before he could join the crew, he had to prove himself, and not just in combat. The Captain, a former Farseer, made it very clear that any Dark Eldar upon the ship had to be stable, which was defined as not being some torture crazy rear end in a top hat spending more time on the battlefield slowly killing the enemy and focused on how many captives to bring back to their quarters for scream fests. Thankfully Ozubran was never like his kin in that regard. He had always been interested in battle above other disputes. His concern was always in how to best engage in combat as efficiently as possible. He took his pleasure in the death and defeat of his enemies, not in how their end was brought about, for all intents and purposes he was an efficient warrior, neutralizing his enemies as quickly as possible. He would never pretend to to be merciful. the kills he delivered were efficient in the neutralizing aspect, not in how efficient they killed their enemy. Slicing off a foe's leg so he falls over, or shooting them in the gut so they double over in pain may be an agonizing way to go, but Ozubran never put one thought into the blow or one after. He looked only to how to most brutally neutralize his enemy, where his kin try to land blows that will elicit the most agony from their foes. One of the Exodite marksman always commented that if it were for different birth, Ozubran would have likely been an aspect warrior of the Craftworld Eldar. Ozubran was glad when that marksman was taken out by a kroot counter-sniper in one engagement. Ozubran snaps to attention when Zyp asks him about his loyalty to the Imperium. Did she really just ask a Dark Eldar if they were loyal to the Imperium. "Well I have no loyalty to the Imperium madame, as I am not, nor will i ever be, an Imperial Citizen. So if your concern is to engage in activity that would perhaps be questionable under Imperial doctrine worry not; I don't even know what pathetic laws your Imperium operates under, so I would not know if you broke them. My only law is the law of battle, and so long as you bring me that, I will be loyal to you." Ozubran couldn't believe he delivered that line with a straight face. It was of course a giant lie; he cared not what happened to this mon Keigh any more than he does any other. He instead dwells on why he became a corsair in the first place. A Chaos Warlord by the name of Khazar the Grand Marshal and his Slaaneshi warband had led Ozubran's last Kabal, the Dark Light Kabal, into a trap, slaughtering them down to nearly the last Eldar as a sacrifice to his God; only Ozubran and a handful of others escaped with their lives. The other joined different Kabals, but Ozubran wanted only vengeance. He joined to Corsairs to try and find out the location of Khazar, to no avail. He knew only that the warlord was in this Screaming Vortex, but did not know a location. On top of that, the Corsairs refused to enter the Vortex. When Ozubran received the elder Branningan's letter, which he sent out to his regular xenos forces, he knew this was his ticket. This ship would get him into the Vortex, and close enough to find Khazar and strike. If this fool wanted to to fall to Chaos, that would only make it easier. Ozubran took up the offered goblet and took the smallest of sips which nearly made him vomit, and Ozubran has imbibed literal poison before. "to a pleasing partnership." Dark Eldar Kabalite warrior with Schizo's permission. Hope to one day if the game live that long make an Incubus. Even though it already looks like hedonism boat is winning, my vote is for number 4, the Frigate. Initial sheet I say we take the grand cruiser, because gently caress everyone who looks at us funny. "What the hell is wrong with these people?" - Attributed to Arch-Militant Volkmere after the initial cruise of the [insert ship's name here] Life has a strange way of finding someone in a place where they can ply their trade in exactly the way they need to, despite such wildly different beginnings. Volkmere was raised on Wrathia, a fortress world where training and vigilance was drilled into everyone from birth. Not as vital to the Imperium as Cadia, to be sure, but Wrathia was on the border of a minor secessionist empire long, long ago. Ever since it was conquered in the Great Crusade the world has stood vigilant over not just the surviving worlds, but against any threats the Imperium might face in its sector. Of course, there are cracks in the system where those of a certain ilk might have an enterprise or two on the side. Christian was only tangentially involved. His skill with weapons was unmatched in his unit, even among soldiers who knew their craft before they could walk. With pistols, especially. And it was Volkmere who was tapped for 'missions' to put the fear of the Emperor into rivals trying to make coin with graft and black market trade. The others laughed when they saw him walk up to the meeting, thinking it was the peak of stupidity for one man against seven. But seven shots later and the rival unit had pulled back their operations in the area and left it to his unit to oversee. All the wheeling and dealing came to an end when Wrathia was engulfed in a warp storm. Someone, somewhere, foolishly decided to trade in things beyond weapons and narcotics, managing to start a cult in the heart of what should have been one of the most spectacularly guarded worlds in Imperial space. The damned fools brought the whole archenemy fleet to the world, or so it seemed. Hordes of renegades, sorcerers, and blighted armor stormed over the bastions of Wrathia. Entire shield walls were torn down by the corrupted titan Bellator Rex. It was a miracle that Christian survived. Prepared to fight to the last man, he was dragged off by those who still had the sense to steal a cutter and hope for the best. Never one to argue, he still spent the flight in silence, contemplating his place in the galaxy. Perhaps his skills weren't up to the task? Ludicrous, of course. There were none more skilled than he was on all of Wrathia when it came to a firearm. But he redoubled his dedication nonetheless, though it cost him his comrades as they sought to move on. Gunplay paid for his voyages alone and treatments for better coordination and reflexes. Eventually his found his way to a temple of warrior-monks who dedicated themselves to the art of dealing death. Not death cultists, but a kind of sect that vowed always to be prepared to bring death to the enemies of the Emperor. Several years there honing his skills brought Volkmere to the realization that the Emperor's enemies were still out there. They had destroyed Wrathia. It was time to find them and destroy them in His name. Before long he had signed on to the employ of a Rogue Trader. The ability to go anywhere at any time would help his search, and the many contacts he met would surely bring him closer to his enemies. pre:Name: Christian Volkmere Career: Arch-Militant Homeworld: Fortress World Birthright: Stubjack Lure of the Void: Crusade (Warrior) Trials and Travails: Warp Incursion Motivation: Know Thy Foe Lineage: Far-Reaching Contacts Characteristics: 10#2d10 14 16 15 15 9 17 8 5 9 13 WS: 52 = 25 + 17 [+5 Birthright] [+5 Lure of the Void] BS: 54 = 25 + 14 [+5 Homeworld] [+10 Advance] S: 50 = 25 + 15 [+10 Advance] T: 50 = 25 + 15 [+10 Advance] Ag: 53 = 25 + 13 [+5 Lure of the Void] [+10 Advance] Int: 29 = 25 + 9 [-5 Homeworld] Per: 34 = 25 + 9 WP: 51 = 25 + 16 [+5 Homeworld] [+5 Advance] Fel: 18 = 25 + 8 [-5 Homeworld] [-5 Birthright] [-5 Lure of the Void] Wounds: 17/17 FP : 3/3 Insanity: 2 Corruption: 3 Skills: Acrobatics Awareness +20 Common Lore (War) +10 Dodge +20 Forbidden Lore (Heresy) Forbidden Lore (Pirates) Intimidate +20 Literacy Medicae Scholastic Lore (Tactica Imperialis) Secret Tongue (Military) +10 Secret Tongue (Rogue Trader) Speak Language (Low Gothic) Talents: Ambidextrous Basic Weapon Training (Universal) Crack Shot Crushing Blow Die Hard Hatred (Renegades) Leap Up Light Sleeper Meditation Melee Weapon Training (Universal) Nerves of Steel Peer (Hivers, Military, Underworld) Pistol Training (Universal) Quick Draw Rapid Reaction Rapid Reload Resistance (Pschic Powers) Sound Constitution x3 Thrown Weapon Training (Universal) True Grit Two Weapon Wielder (Ranged) Traits: Constant Combat Training Weapon Master (Pistols) Gear: Hellgun Best Chainsword Good Assault Flamer - Toxin-saturated Promethium Two bolt pistols Good Mono Sword Micro-bead Void suit Light Carapace Armor Bolt shell keepsake Medikit Manacles Data-slate of wanted bounties XP: 12950/13,000 Rank 1 5000-6999 ---------------------------------------- Lure of the Void 250 Trials and Trevails 100 Motivation 400 Lineage 300 Awareness 100 Literacy 100 Secret Tongue (Rogue Trader) 100 Ambidextrous 200 Medicae 200 Agility +5 100 Agility +5 250 Willpower +5 500 Rank 2 7000-9999 ---------------------------------------- Awareness +10 200 Dodge +10 200 Ballistic Skill +5 100 Ballistic Skill +5 250 Leap Up 200 Two-Weapon Wielder (Ranged) 200 True Grit 200 Crushing Blow 500 Strength +5 100 Strength +5 250 Sound Constitution 200 Sound Constitution 200 Acrobatics 200 Rapid Reload 200 Rank 3 10000-12999 ---------------------------------------- Die Hard 200 Awareness +20 200 Dodge +20 300 Rapid Reaction 200 Frenzy 500 Crack Shot 500 Toughness +5 250 Toughness +5 500 Intimidate +20 200 Rank 4 13000-16999 ---------------------------------------- Rank 5 17000-20999 ---------------------------------------- Vicissitude fucked around with this message at 08:28 on Jan 21, 2017 |

Gonna make a Genetor for this. Compelled by character origin to vote C party cruiser Last known image, shortly after being named Genetor Seen outside medical decks after performing rounds for House Brannigan Katrina Mach The house of Mach is a despicable mess of every negative stereotype of Imperial Nobility, down to the corruption at the head. Katrina was once blissfully unaware of everything that was going on, the third child of a minor branch of the family. Her father used their family connections to get her admitted into the local Adeptus Mechanicus academy as a means to keep her out of trouble, at least until she would one day be forced to marry to further her parents ambitions. She had no interest in the squabblings of nobility and instead took to study under her attending Magos and uncle Marius. She excelled at the biological sciences and became quite the surgeon in her time at the academy. Marius and Katrina worked long and hard to memorize all the various rites and rituals regarding both machines and flesh. It was no surprise that she too became a Genetor after her studies were complete. Everything was great for Katrina, but as with all good things they must come to an end. During what was supposed to be a routine removal of shrapnel, Katrina blacked out. Long suppressed memories came flooding back. "... how is the project coming along..., ...call him Marius, this cannot fail..., ... the contract is sealed, no one will ever know she is different... and finally ... these are just birthmarks, nothing to worry about, just don't ever disrobe in public; you're nobility after all..." Marius confessed everything when being confronted, of all her family he was the only one who cared about her and decided to give her the truth, after all, he had the protection of the mighty Adeptus Mechanicus, what could go wrong? Katrina was a vat baby, grown instead of born, the plan was to marry her into a position of power then to activate the conditioning to murder her spouse. Things went wrong, the muscle implantations failed, toxins began to build up and life support was failing. A contact was made, a friend of her father's, this man promised to save her and his ambitions. Katrina's life was saved in that iron womb that day at the cost of her soul, the man was a priest of Slaanesh, the prince of pleasure, the reason she was never to disrobe in public was that his mark was upon her body, it hid what would have been a hulking and grotesque musculature and kept her blood red instead of what it really was; a toxin filled fluid capable of killing a man in minutes. When the time came to get her marriage arranged, Marius did the only thing that he could and ushered her away onto a ship with a letter that read, I saw what happened there, how far your father strayed from the light of the Omnissiah, I ran, the only thing I could do was botch the conditioning that it would never take hold. You may have been born of greatest sin, but you still have a soul of your own and a chance to bring judgment upon those that wronged us. With that, she left and became a shipboard surgeon on any ship that would take her, maybe she'd see her uncle again, and kill both her father and the priest that tried to sell her soul. Her thoughts turned to the question at hand. "Of course I'm loyal to the Omnissiah and the Imperium. I keep its people fighting and I'm not half bad in one myself if I do say so myself. Besides, you probably already saw the video of what I did to that cultist with my bare hands; I'm sure you cant question my loyalty after I vaporized his head. And I have word from my servoskull here that one of the men I'm out to get is somewhere in the Screaming Vortex, help me out and I'm all yours." pre:Katrina Mach Explorator (Genetor) Noble Born Unnatural Origins (False Man -300) Tainted (Mutant -200, Ravaged Body) Unwilling Accomplice WS 46 41+5 BS 31 ST 82 39+3+10+20+10 TN 74 37+3-6+10+20+10 AG 35 IN 40 40-5+5 PE 31 34-3 WP 32 32-5+5 FL 50 45+5 Wounds: 18 Fate: 2 Insanity: 3 Corruption: 0 http://orokos.com/roll/476824 stats http://orokos.com/roll/476830 mutation # http://orokos.com/roll/476831 Mutations (Tox Blood/Ravaged Body II) http://orokos.com/roll/476836 Reroll for Ravaged Body II (Brute) http://orokos.com/roll/476839 Tox Blood penalties http://orokos.com/roll/476841 Fate http://orokos.com/roll/477170 Cortex Implant Insanity Skills: Literacy Speak Language (High Gothic, Low Gothic, Explorator Binary, Techna) Peer (Nobility, Ad Mech) Hatred (Nobility) Common Lore (Machine Cult, Tech) Forbidden Lore (Archaeotech, Ad Mech) Logic Trade (Technomat) Medicae +10 Awareness Traits: Mechanicus Implants Autosanguine Chem-Geld Regeneration Unnatural Strength X2 Unnatural Intelligence X2 Talents: Basic Weapon Training (Universal) Melee Weapon Training (Universal) Logis Implant Iron Jaw Ambidextrous Master Chiurgeon Sprint Gear: GC Hellgun GC Power Axe Enforcer Light Carapace Multikey Voidsuit Sacred Unguents Micro-bead combitool Dataslate Servoskull Augmetic Engine Plate (Servo Manipulators) Suppression Shield Cybernetics: GQ Cortex Implant BQ Synthmuscle Bionic Heart Advances: 8000/8000 Intelligence +5 -100 Strength +20 1600 Tougness +20 1600 Weapon Skill +10 -750 Willpower+5 -250 Prosanguine -200 Dodge -200 Tech Use -100 Medicae -200 Total Recall -200 (Genetor at R3) 10000-12999 Machine of Flesh x3 (Brute, Regeneration, Feel No Pain) -1500 Medicae +10 -200 Dodge +10 -200 Master Chiurgeon -500 Upgrade 1 Cybernetics to Best Quality -400 Upgrade 1 Cybernetic to Good Quality -200 Rank 4 Explorator 13000+ Acquisition: Augmetic Engine Plate Servo Manipulators Suppression Shield Bionic Heart A reasonable number of Medkits HukHukHuk fucked around with this message at 03:03 on Jan 21, 2017 |

Voting D, We can even sing sea shanties while we cruise. Also how do you want us rolling any extra starting requisitions, just 1 item at +0 per the books? What do we assume for population size for our requisition? ----- The sullen, disheveled man doesn't even blink at Zyp's reaction to him telling her he use to be Inquisition. The very few people he's mentioned it to always act this way. After the laughing dies down his interviewer gives him time to explain himself before she "throws his haggard rear end out the airlock". He shrugs before he starts in: "What, you think I always looked like this? I can tell you it's certainly not by choice. I grew up as a hive rat and learned from an early age that when you're that poor and destitute you're invisible to anyone that matters. Nobody wants to acknowledge you. They let slip secrets that they wouldn't say about their betters. It's what brought me into an acolyte cell to begin with. They took what I already knew about rustling secrets and gave me proper training and financing. I was set to infiltrate underhive cults and peasant uprisings tasked to create chaos from within. Feed them bad intel, pit lieutenants against each other, cause unfortunate accidents, that sort of stuff." He takes a swig out of an aluminum can he brought with him into the interview before continuing. Turns out, if the Inquisition thinks that you've integrated into your target too well, they might take offense. And if the inquisitor you're working for doesn't have the resources or clout to pull you out to execute you, he'll just burn you instead. Send an anonymous tip to the group you're integrated with that outs you and hope they do the work for you. If you turn out to be harder to kill and get away from them, he'll have the safe containing all your assets booby trapped with a frag mine, thinking you wouldn't send a junkie to open it for you. Luckily for me, the underhive is a big place one can easily disappear in from both the inquisition and the cult I had been integrated with. A couple of odd jobs here and there and you can set up shop as a fence and smuggler for the underhive gangers. Did you know those stupid kids would bring me all sorts of hauls, drugs, art, weapons, you name it. I'd give them pennies on the dollar and none of them knew any better. Problem is, apparently the inquisition sniffed me out again, probably due to a customer I ripped off tipping off the Arbites. I had to bump one off so far who tried to play the hot shot and take me in, and it's only a matter of time before they come in force to try and turn me out." The man chuckles to himself before looking back at Zyp with a sideways glance. "Now I know what you're thinking, 'Why would I believe such a story and if so, why would I bring in someone wanted by both the Arbites and the Inquisition?' Well, when I step out of this office your next interview in line is a man shrouded in a hooded cloak. Judging by the way he hides his face from anyone who so much as looks his way and the way he fingers at a blade hidden away in this belt, I believe this man intends to try and kill you. The tattoo on his palm and wrist indicate that he's already a member of the Rogue Trader House Levant, a rival power, no? Also I briefly heard him under his breath reciting a litany common to death cultists on the planet. Probably under orders to pull off an assassination while you're off guard. Except you're not off guard are you? For all that you've drank, you're still clear of thought and more importantly, you've kept that compact needle pistol hidden up your sleeve trained on me this whole time. character alternative who has SEEN SOME poo poo Marakena Krokodil A prisoner in a ragged Imperial Navy uniform is led in. Formerly a resplendent example of bridge officer dress, it's torn, burnt, bloodstained and supplemented with personalised patches, trophies and accessories. An ork would probably think it was a good start to a proper outfit. The prisoner's eyes focus on Zyp for a moment before looking right through. "Specialist Krokodil, tertiary helm crew of the Resplendent Blade on extended patrol duty in the Koronus. Engaged a pirate vessel and sustained heavy damage, ship was stranded alongside disabled pirate vessel. Surviving pirates boarded, we could not withstand and the Blade was captured. Most of the bridge crew was eaten. I was promoted to senior helm. Once the drives were repaired we proceeded to raid several worlds and vessels of varying origins. I led several boarding parties when not on the bridge. Continued until we encountered ship convoy belonging to... House Brinnigan. Hmm." "Battle went poorly, despite my efforts. Battle for the bridge was hard-fought but I survived to be captured. Would have expected execution for piracy, not recruitment." "I didn't really think it was the end for me. Everyone else around me dies, but I walk out intact once more. Destiny seems to have something greater in store for me. A life somewhere between mundane duty and death. Going to be that rear end in a top hat that goes, "Dark Eldar actually don't even gain insanity since they are beyond your pitiful concept of sanity, would they even be impacted by warp travel hallucinations?" But well, i guess I just did? That is a serious question though, if I would suffer hallucinations like phobia since I couldn't even get that disorder on account of sanity having no impact on Dark Eldar.

Would Forbidden Lore (Pirates) give any insight? Not that I would know anything of the Ragged Helix in particular, but general pirate stuff that could be assumed to apply to it.

I don't think Oz will partake in the slaughter of the prisoners; he's a different stripe of dark eldar, and prefers the things he kills to have the ability to fight back. Hopefully he gets the drop on them and kills them before they can, but the potential is there. Something with no weapon and chained down? Where is the thrill? He would likely stay and watch though. However, the power through pain rule says that I get a pain token every time someone living (so the daemonette doesn't count) is killed, stunned, suffers non lethal crit damage, blood loss or fails a fear or pinning test within a number of meters equal to my Perception score, so in this case 43 meters. So a couple things: 1. I assume that I gain two pain tokens, one from Volk and one from Katrina each failing their fear tests. one of the Vile pleasures actually give you an additional token for the suffering of an ally if you don't cause it, so I assume that means that I get pain tokens even if bad stuff happens to allies. 2. How many pain tokens would I get for watching the execution? I assume not a few hundred, but at least one, maybe more? I'll leave that up to GM discretion.

No do it, get several hundred pain tokens, you can use the fate points for something.

Skellybones posted:No do it, get several hundred pain tokens, you can use the fate points for something. *never fails another roll again* I'm not trying to game the system here. But the temporary fate points are important. Unlike the rest of you I only get one real fate point to start. I think the GM can award me more for role play like other players, but absent that I only have the one point. Plus the rules state I cannot burn the temporary points, so I need as many as I can fairly get to re-roll dodges or to heal wounds so I don't have to burn my only one. If schizo says I only get one for watching mass murders that's fine. I am jaded after all.

Werix posted:*never fails another roll again* Well they don't tend to last long, so take one. You'll probably need to get new ones by the time you need to use one anyway. Also I think it's max one per turn anyway. So since the whole daemonette encounter lasted a single turn the max you got from that is one.

I think it is one per event per person, so if someone gets a non fatal crit that also stuns them and causes bloodloss, I still get one, not three, but here it was two different people but I'll check the language when I get home.

You are right sir. It gives the example of one grenade harming multiple people as giving only one pain token, so the same would apply here where one fear causing event gives multiple people fear. So then two, one from daemonette fear, and one from watching slaves get butchered wholesale.
