I bought some of those dumb cardboard solar glasses from Amazon because I wanted to see the eclipse, and now it's like poo poo all I'm going to see is a loving orange circle with a round bite taken out of it for 5 minutes then go back inside. I look at these stupid cardboard glasses I paid actual money for every day, and I think to myself gently caress, man... gently caress! You pay six bucks for a thing, and you think man this is a once in a lifetime thing, holy poo poo a solar eclipse, but still, you know.... gently caress... Anyway, peace.

To be perfectly honest, the amount of UV light that will enter your eyes during an eclipse is negligible as long as you're not staring directly at the thing the whole time. If you recognize that yes, the sun can damage your eyes, then you can judge how much you can safely look at the thing using common sense. The more covered the sun is, the safer it is to look at it. If it's uncomfortable to look then look away obviously. UV light can't pass through glass so definitely use a telescope.
