I'm sorry, I can't get past the description of Sandrah's armour. That just sets the tone for this entire shitshow and I can't stop laughing. Also the hilarious tone whiplash of 'you have a pet wolf! Except gently caress you it likes Sandrah better despite you having raised it for four years and she literally only just appearing'.

Lesson One for all aspiring writers: learn when to shut the gently caress up. You do not need to vomit out every single passing thought you have ever had about every single character. Especially not in the first couple of areas of a very long game. Christ on a unicycle. Also the sockpuppet exposition is hilarious in a sad way. I would very much like to see an alternate playthrough being rude to Sandrah as much as possible. I'm assuming it'll break the game if you don't fawn over the Mary Sue sufficiently but I'd like to see someone try.

It's Baby's First Fanfiction, we all wrote deep-cringe poo poo like this at one point. But the stage where you're able to make a functional total conversion mod for a long and complicated game to float your story on is also the stage where you're more than old enough that you should have grown out of it.

It's weird that none of the people trailing after Sandrah with their tongues hanging out, including the PC, have any sort of reaction to her ducking off camera to gently caress Garrick every five minutes. Surely the whole point of a Mary Sue is that everyone should be jealous and fighting over her/forming ever more convoluted love triangles that rapidly turn fractal?

I've actually been poking around the edges of this rabbit hole (because clearly I'm a masochist). Among my discoveries - including at least one forum thread featuring multiple pages of some of Roxanne's sockpuppets having conversations with one another about how great the mod is - I found multiple points where she claims the romance originally didn't feature at all and it's something players kept begging for that she regrets adding in (accounts contradict, sometimes it's just the PC romance, sometimes it's all of it). Except if you strip out the romance there's what, a paragraph about her mother and a few lines about her father and literally everything else about her involves her kissing and/or loving almost everyone. Also most of her mechanical bullshit is hard coded. People have found that stripping her overpowered gear (it's worth about 100k if you sell it all) is useless, she just reequips it immediately and if you do manage to sell it first she spawns new copies and equips those - which does make it an infinite money exploit if you want one. And her combat AI is also hard coded in some way and she will ignore any attempt to change her battle tactics. She's basically a stranger in online multiplayer, despite allegedly being your companion you have absolutely no say in anything she says or does. People have tried leaving her behind or making her upset enough to quit the party, to experience the extra mod content without her. Sometimes it works up to a point but most of the extra quests and so on flat out do not work if Sandrah is not present, even though most of them don't actually involve her. I'm not touching the storyline stuff. We've got a rough ride ahead.

Okay, glossing over how INCREDIBLY hosed UP that is, I don't actually believe a human (yes, I know) and a lizardfolk could produce offspring of any kind. Reptiles and mammals are completely different classifications of life. You could plausibly manage reptiles and either birds or amphibians, maybe, but mammals are just too far removed. Hell, plenty of reptiles can reproduce asexually anyway. On a less technical note, who the hell would think of this and decide it was a worthy plot point that should be included in their story? What does this add to the narrative except to ruin what Tzarnal pointed out is the only even vaguely healthy relationship in this mess?

Don't forget to occasionally write moments of 'insecurity' for them so they can fish for compliments without seeming like that's what they're doing, just to make sure the rest of the cast keep the admiration up.

Disregarding all that, though, I did genuinely enjoy that half the people the party encountered immediately went 'OH GOD THE REDHEAD' and fled screaming because Henning has obviously been telling them all about his awesome girlfriend and how she's going to come rescue him and kick their asses. It's genuinely sweet. I just wish she didn't talk like a concussed Jar Jar Binks

I notice you can scream at the actually-traumatised Kivan to shut the gently caress up already but nobody else, which seems to fit Roxanne's general attitude.

So... does the player get the option of refusing any of this? Has Roxanne ever heard of consent? Ever? Also I really do not like some of the alternative options in the dialogue with Shar-Teel. "Hey I hear you hate your dad, did he molest you or something hurr hurr hurr?" Who the gently caress would want to say that?

I was aware she had a pet panther - all Sues are required to by law in this setting - but I was not expecting that portrait and now I am very scared. The rest of this was just insanely tedious dreck. We're 40 updates in and we've been through enough plot to cover maybe four. Everything else has been NPC blather and very badly written sex and 99% of it has been focused entirely on Sandrah.
