Now at the eve of MK1 (the 12th one, konfusingly), it's time we have a new thread! Let's get to the questions: What's different between 11 and 1? Well, there's a lot. The two biggest changes are the removal of kustom variations and the addition of the kameo system. Kustoms are gone, everyone is just the one kharacter. Kameos are similar to assists from Marvel vs Kapcom, but you don't tag between partners like in 2, 3 or infinite. It makes sense in kontext of the game. How's the story looking? MK is known for its rich story, and MK1 is no exception! At the end of the last game, Liu Kang became the god of thunder and fire and kreated a new world where everyone kould be free and happy. Well, that's not going to happen, but the extent to which Liu fucks up will be for MK1's story mode! When is the game koming out? It's koming out on September 19, 2023 for Switch, Xbox Series, PS5 and Steam. No krossplay on launch sadly. How's the netcode? It's sad that this even has to be an issue but I'm here to tell you that MK has state of the art netcode that stands as some of the best in the business. MK is koming soon! Get hype

Reptile was on the leaked list. I'm actually pretty certain all 5 ninjas from the Trilogy are going to be playable--Ermac is listed as DLC--for the first time since MK9. Hope they revert back to his "disguised" human form, his newer frogface sucked rear end. Ed has decided to buy big in Lin Kuei stock, ninja stock, palette swap stock for Mortal Kombat One: The First Mortal Kombat Since 9 Where No "One" Will Complain About Where A Ninja Character Is

At this point, it seems like the most reliable leaks are coming from "r0000r." From what's been said so far, the characters that haven't yet been revealed are Reptile, Sindel, Tanya, Reiko, Li Mei, Nitara, Havik, Ashrah, Baraka, Geras, and a new version of Shao who's a general in Outworld's forces, with Takeda, Quan Chi, and Ermac as DLC. The same leaks have also suggested that the story behind MK1 is a clash between the potential endings of MK11: Aftermath, where Liu Kang's benevolent but internally flawed New Era is being invaded by Shang Tsung, who's conquered everything in his own timeline. Apparently there's a scene in story mode where Kitana massacres the Kombat Kids, but it's the evil versions of them from Shang's timeline, which would theoretically explain where DLC Takeda comes from.

personally I've given up on spoilertags since it's a time honored tradition for all of Mortal Kombat's characters to get leaked on day negative-100. I'm actually most stoked to potentially get Baraka back since his return in MK11 was awesome, was so fun to play. The move where he impales you and then chops off his own bone blade is just hardcore.

I figure it's a 50-50 shot that, if she does return, Li Mei ends up throwing in with the ultimate villain, then gets chumped in a cutscene. That seems to be her thing.

By the end of MKX, Onaga never woke up, Shinnok's a severed head, most of the old Outworld villain crew is dead, the new Outworld emperor isn't an expansionist prick (and more importantly, is really easy to beat up), and Armageddon got averted. Sure, it came at the cost of most of the good guys being murdered then converted into revenants, but as the start of MK11 story mode shows, they're not anywhere near as much of a threat. These are all victory conditions. It's simply that they were messily achieved, or even completely accidental. Raiden sort of Mr. Bean'd his way into a solid overall outcome, which only got jacked up by the direct interference of an Elder God.

This would seem to sync up with some of the versus screen banter between mirror matches who are still acting like they are from different timelines. My personal favourites being a Liu Kang who was tricked by a clown into murdering Kitana (this is the setup for Injustice) and a timeline that a Kenshi is from where Kano is/was in Liu Lang's role. Ed. ED. I need more character reveals Ed! And not just ninjas!
