Oh do I have a tale for you.

It's very long but I cackle like an idiot every time I read it.

Why all the Golden Corral hate? Golden Corral is honestly better than a loving movie.

Sad days in fast food in Europe. Everyone’s simplifying their menus. McDonald’s Poland dropped my favorite breakfast tortillas. Nothing interesting in Italian McD’s or German BK. MAX Burgers in Poland is consistently uninteresting. I tried a Stake n Shake in Corsica of all places - it was fine if a bit pricey?

You just keep telling yourself that.

And then you learn that other types of Italian pizza than Napoletana exist and are literally the embodiment of paradise on earth.

The French reputation for food and wine has been exaggerated to an incomprehensible degree, the average French person doesn’t eat much better than an average inhabitant of any other western country.

I hope you're not talking about those cold squares with eggplant on them in Italy, because those sucked

My experience in my travels there are that their breads and pastries are top notch, but drat do they consume a lot of poor quality cold cuts

The French adore their baguettes with cold cuts. The baguette is tasteless, as are the cold cuts. Hon hon hon!

I tried a Nordsee in Germany today, which is a fast food fish place popular there. Unlike my previous two visits, I did not get nausea or a headache, but it continues to be horribly mediocre.

Yeah, there's something really nice about visiting Paris and having a bakery on every corner with fresh bread and multiple flavours of eclairs.

My belief is that French food is considered in such high regard not because they're the best at cooking, but because they were the first at codifying it. Not unlike how a lot of words in music theory come from Italian.

French cooking is based on insane ingredient quality, which helps, too. Meals at the super basic self-service Flunch restaurants next to Auchan supermarkets beat like 3/4ths of german restaurants that serve crap looking like some’d cooked it all up in their home kitchen, and not in a good way.

One of those supermarket restaurants i saw had unlimited crêpes for like 11eur. I feel like I could get some good value for money out of that

Fast food in supermarket bars and bakeries in France is a safe bet, always, so go for it next time.

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, MAD-2R World
My Hot Take as an American is that countries with long-established food cultures tend to do basic poo poo super well because they're very specific about ingredients and preparation methods, and have the underlying attitude of "we figured this poo poo out 500 years ago, don't gently caress around with it."

Then America kramers in and is like BUT WHAT IF WE BREW BEER WITH PEANUT BUTTER?!? :haw:

Cook the noodles, season, and chill in a ring mold (perhaps freeze). If chilling, you might need a weight on top. Depending on how well they stick you might consider adding a sprinkle of cornstarch or slightly overcooking them next time).

They should stick together really well, remove the mold, egg wash+ breadcrumbs then fry. I assume that’s chili powder in the breadcrumbs.

There has been precious little going ons in the EE fast food world due to you know what, however I did notice a new thing here in Warsaw were kebabs are becoming kebab & dim-sum restaurants. Seems an odd pairing?

Also fat Friday is here next Thursday (read about paczki in the OP) but everyone’s getting doughnuts today because they’re confused its so late this year (it’s all tied to lent)z

WTF, there's MAX in Poland? If they still have Spicy Chicken try that next time, it's by far their best burger, probably my favorite fast food burger ever (at least in Sweden). Their meat isn't great, everything else they do way better.

Yeah, they went all in and there’s a bunch of new locations everywhere - looks like they’re going into suburbs with drive in locations mostly.

Gonna try that chicken. Their pork thingy was also okay. Fries are an abomination, like worse than supermarket poo poo.

Their fries are popular as hell here so I wonder if it's the same recipe. Their dips for fries all suck though and I don't think ours has a pork thingy so there seem to be differences.
