Dark Bahamut is a badly designed boss because he's not hard, just tedious. Once you have stoneproof and auto-life, the only things that can actually kill you are back to back impulse and mega flare, and impulse's timing is entirely under your control. You get some physical counters to not lose track, and then its just an hour of chipping away. If he had a tenth of the health, it'd be the exact same skill/strategy check, just without wasting as much of your time

They just sort of painted themselves into a corner with the powers you can put onto armor. With auto-phoenix, only killing the entire party in one shot could ever pose a threat. And with Auto-Life as well, only killing the entire party in one shot, twice in successive turns, could pose a threat. So… where else can they go? I’ve never seen Dark Anima or Magus Sisters (though I understand the latter is folded into a little mini game where you can separate them and then they’re kinda easy as dark aeons go) nor Penance, but I expect they’re just going to be even more careful tedious management of auto life vis a vis known attack patterns.

It's the inevitable consequence of creating a system in which normal progress isn't quite enough, but any amount of grinding (particularly when it includes collecting all of the Celestial Weapons) makes you so strong that you're effectively untouchable. why can't X-2 have been a kimhari doing merc jobs in a hack n slash game. shoulda gone full mgr on it, including using force of nature as the main theme edit: and it would have a yoko taro-esque "good job but kimhari's dead now" ending if you use self-destruct

You are doing a good job there, but two notes. 1) Those Overdrives are kind of useless at this point, because they take so long that you could basically do 3-4 quickhits in that time. 2) You forgot to use the purifying salt in phase two to get rid of haste. It basically all broke down at 27:12 when he attacked Rikku for 10520 HP. If that had been ever so slightly lower, everything would have turned out fine. Does max stats Rikku have a slightly lower defense to compensate for her higher speed? Is there any way to raise that slightly? The only overdrives worth anything at this point are Rikku's, Wakka's (though probably not in this case), and Tidus's. I guess Kimahri slapping down a Mighty Guard wouldn't be utterly bad either. It's all about the Quick Hit otherwise.

Yeah I've been stewing on it and realize that overdrives, even for hitting multiple enemies, are too drat slow. That and my overuse of auto life, it was fine for previous enemies but dying and being revived takes so long that Penance will get multiple moves and likely just re-kill your character.cant cook creole bream posted:2) You forgot to use the purifying salt in phase two to get rid of haste.
