I really love this bands first album, the second one is good too. Is neck of the woods any good? Somehow never managed to listen to that one

It’s got some great tracks, and opens with a great one.

Album and first single dropped. I really liked it!

I broke one of my rules. I preordered the vinyl. It’s too pretty, and comes signed by the band.

Track listing:

LP 1, SIDE A:
1. Stillness (Way Beyond)
2. Sticks and Stones
3. Hereafter (Way After)

LP 1, SIDE B:
1. Dream at Tempo 050
2. Scared Together
3. Alone on a Hill

LP 2, SIDE C:
1. Hidden Moon
2. System Error
3. Empty Nest
4. Dream at Tempo 310

LP 2, SIDE D:
1. We Won’t Come Out
2. Stay Down (Way Down)
3. Quicksand
4. Dream at Tempo 150

(Interesting thing about those “Dream at Tempo” tracks, since that was a title from the first album.)

That was the first thing that I noticed too haha. I’m assuming they are interludes or something. Can’t listen to the new song yet but hopefully it is better than the lead off from the last album

Wow, um that song. Guess they've moved from being a wonderful gish-era throwback to a maladroit-era throwback?

Oh frik yeah. Only discovered them a few years ago and they gave me so much catharsis and joy already. It's the 🌒 the ⛅ and the sky the 🌒 the ⛅ and the sky~

It's been in my pocket through 4 regenerations,
but it's still good.

Wow. I am really digging that new single. It’s different but I like it a lot.

Anyone else hear the New Order influences in The Pit or is it just me?

E: wait wait wait they did a cover of Martika’s Toy Soldiers??????? :swoon: :pusheen:

Is this the first track where they have a different lead singer? I’m not familiar with the members of the band, so I don’t know names (and I’m supposed to be working, or I’d look it up).

Overflowing cat food dish makes me sad. Especially when I have a friend on Instagram posting about her cats birthday today, but the cat died a few months ago.

There are a handful of songs: Kissing Families and Creation Lake off their first EP, Ribbons & Detours, Circadian Rhythm/Last Dance, (probably forgetting something), a couple where she'll sing a verse or full chorus.

Not a lot.

I like the track, but looking at that listing, Alone right after Scared Together? maybe thematically it works, but that's a hell of a sonic juxtaposition albumwise

I kinda dig it, which vaguely surprises me. The whole last album felt, overall, like a dud to me. But I might be too attached to their older stuff.

I just got the store exclusive album in the mail today. The whole thing is beautiful looking, so I guess I did get that Physical Thrill after all. I'm not going to be able to listen to it until after the weekend though.

word of warning for vinyl havers, there are some intentional glitchy bits in Sticks and Stones (track 2) it's not a bad pressing

Listened through it a few times now--enjoying it for the most part, and it's pretty different from all their stuff. If you bounced off Widows Weeds, this is more, I don't want to say shoegaze, but soundscapey, I guess.

I think the music is great, iffy on some of the lyrics. Surprised at the straightforward sentimentality, and did not expect a SSPU song to have "I miss you, babe" as a refrain. lol.

I need to give to a few more spins. First play through while at work and it's ... fine. More engaging than the last two were for me, but not hitting as strong immediately as anything from those first three LP's and EP though.

Yeah that’s a weird sound, but I was expecting clicks and pops in the track given this warning, lol.

I’m still in the middle of my first play, and it seems like a good album. I’m currently on “System Error” and this song is pretty great. The guitar solo sounds like something from their first two albums.

Only 53 minutes for a two vinyl release seems a bit skimpy to me though.
