I'd like to recommend the Drill Dozer LP

Greasin' up and Drillin' in Drill Dozer! [VLP]

It's a colorful, fun game, the videos are relatively fast paced and entertaining, and Katachresis' voice overs are extremely appropriate. He sounds much like a construction worker or some-such, and considering what the game is about, it just meshes really well.

He updates regularly too (so far at least).

Oh god... I think there's someone... Behind me!
I have to recommend Fenbab's Tomb Raider Anniversary thread.

Being fond of the game myself, I was pretty surprised at the amount of skill shown in the playthrough- not only does the game look free-flowing and streamlined, but all of the secret areas and such are being shown too. It's entertaining, it's informative, and you just get the impression that Fenbab knows the game inside-out, which is exactly what I like to see in a LP.

Even though it's only a few levels into the game so far, it's already gone above and beyond what I had hoped for in a Tomb Raider LP!

Working off Malorie's recomendation, I'd like to toss out Sethur's Sands of Time LP. Sethur has a very thorough knowledge of the game and its controls, and his commentary is generally at least tolerable and sometimes downright entertaining.

There are a few issues with it. He updates once in a blue moon and the videos tend to be shorter (though high quality). Still definitely worth a look.

This isn't exactly a ringing endorsement. Bolding is mine - when commentary is sometimes entertaining (although you may be joking here), that's not a great sign.

Do not engage. Just tell me to go back to Kiwi Farms where I waste days upon days crying about how I wasted years upon years on SA. Did you know I was personally responsible for SA's rise in popularity in the 00's? It's true! Just come to the Farms and find out how! It's the trash kingdom I deserve.

gently caress you, jerk. This is supposed to be a thread about positivity and happiness. In fact, I'm so pissed off at you that I'm going to recommend Survivor: Internet, by some rear end in a top hat. This is an honestly funny LP. The game itself sucks, but whatever jerk made the thread decided it'd be even funnier to add in random video clips, which actually works quite well. The style's probably closest to Diabetus' style, although I wouldn't say it's a ripoff by any means. Just a good, funny LP.

I really need to write up some recommendations of some of the LPs I've been watching lately, but I'm horribly lazy and it's exam week. Maybe next week or something.

Downright entertaining to be different from entertaining in the sense that very good is different from good. I also don't think a thread has to be perfect to get a mention here.

I can elaborate on my comment though:

Sethur's commentary runs the gamut from boring to entertaining. Don't go to that thread for hilarity, go if you want a skilled runthrough of a tough game voiced over by someone who knows a lot about it. It's pretty good and worth checking out, it's also got downsides. I thought people reading this should be aware of them.

\/\/ maybe generally would've been a better word to use than occasionally, in retrospect.

Fair enough, it just didn't seem as positive a recommendation as others have been in this thread.

I see you.
I'm going to resurrect this thread by bringing up the No More Heroes thread. The video and sound quality are great, Chip Cheezum and General Ironicus are a pretty cool duo to listen to, Chip Cheezum knows the game well and plays it well, and the boring and tedious parts of the game are sped up once they're demonstrated once.

This is one of the few threads I've seen lately where I've been really impressed, since they basically seem to not repeat the other mistakes people have made with old LPs. The videos are long to watch (30 minutes), but they are quite enjoyable the whole time! It definitely deserves the gold rating it has now.

Let's see if I can guess your function.
Can't believe this hasn't been mentioned in every post so far as it is so awesome.

The Shining Force 3 LP by TotalBiscuit is a multimedia LP. He has screenshots, he has videos with audio commentary, he has music files from the game. The videos of the battles have been edited to include a bestiary of the enemies and a post-battle summary for each character. TotalBiscuit's british accent and fast-pased commentary really make you feel like you're in amongst the action. He really is putting a ton of effort into this LP; he even went out and spent in the region of $200 on the premium disc (which contains a bunch of extremely tough battles, including fights from Shining Force 1 and 2) so he could give us the complete Shining Force 3 experience.

Even if you don't like the Shining Force series, you should be watching this LP!

VVVVV I just like british accents and TotalBiscuit OK? <> VVVVV

They could be lollipops. They could be paddles. They could be a chinaman.
Hay buddies can someone please hook me up with some poorly acted full motion video LP's? Ok it doesn't exactly have to be full-motion video but adventure games with a cheesey horror slant are preferable as bad gore makes me smile.

Here are the ones I've watched and adored (for their awfulness):
Harvester - If you haven't read this drop what you are doing and watch it now you sad discarded corn-husk of a man.
The Ripper - Christopher Walken is a no-nonsense cop in futuristic murder mystery. Main character has a red coat.
Noctropolis - Dude is transported into his favorite comic book called Darksheer and becomes the next Darksheer, a batman clone. Terrible acting, I mean unbelievably, laughably bad acting. See scene with "urban gang".
Darkseed 1 & 2 - *jerks off into own forehead*
Phantasmagoria 1 & 2 - Playmates and entities from another world. The two games really don't have much to do with each other, besides desperately poor acting combined with obtuse as gently caress puzzles.

Basically I love any LP with really, really terrible acting in it. Could be loving voice acting as long as it's got a terrible horror slant. Any suggestions buddies?

Edit: Said more words, but my heart's in the same place drat it!

I am quoting this just so the jerks who are haphazardly browsing this thread and have never heard of Doc Future/Robotnik DDS will realize that he has made the best loving threads and they were ridiculously under-appreciated considering the beauty that was contained within them. The amount of effort he put into his threads is deserving of more praise than is possible by myself alone so please stop reading this thread and view them.

Then agree with me you nerds! Sorry if this seems like I'm just gushing about him but it's the drat truth. His LP's ooze so much comedy that it's a crime against humanity that he isn't worshipped and his exploits regaled on every page of this thread at least once.

Seconding this. It was a great LP to follow along and it's definitely worth checking out if you want to see where the whole 'multimedia gaming' that was so big in the 90's got it's roots from. Also, the Phantasmagoria 2 has gore in spades, but actually has some semi-decent acting in it. This might be a minus in your books.

VoidBurger's Silent Hill 0rigins thread.

From Earth left a pretty big legacy regarding Silent Hill LPs. I was very relieved to see VoidBurger's test posts, and the fact that they didn't suck. In fact, the LP is a lot better than I would have expected, and I don't think I could have asked for a better person to do a Silent Hill LP. We're very little into the game so far, but this is already a fantastic thread. Each video has had a real laugh out loud part, and I mean loud belly laugh. VoidBurger's giving the game proper, little details about you might have missed while playing, cuts to previous Silent Hill games to explain things, totally random additions for humor, and so on. As long as the thread keeps up its current level of quality, it'll be one of the best in recent memory.
