I don't know if SCOTTY GOLDMAN wrote his own WWE.com show or the writers did, but it was god awful.

1.) Why is Wrestlemania so far the only pay-per-view WWE is releasing on blu-ray if they went HD two years ago? 2.) Do any of the anthology sets have Chris Benoit edited out of them? 3.) What are the odds WWE will ever release anthology sets for WCW/ECW pay per views?

LightsGameraAction posted:1.) Why is Wrestlemania so far the only pay-per-view WWE is releasing on blu-ray if they went HD two years ago? Blu-ray Disc is quite a bit more expensive per-unit to produce than a standard DVD. I would imagine WWE is waiting for the cost / benefit figures to make a bit more sense before putting everything on Blu-ray. LightsGameraAction posted:2.) Do any of the anthology sets have Chris Benoit edited out of them? From Wikipedia: quote:Since the incident, no matches involving Benoit have been on any new DVD releases by WWE, with the exception of the Royal Rumble Anthology Vol. III and IV DVDs that were reissued in January 2008, and the SummerSlam Anthology Boxset Vol. III & IV, released in August 2008, over a year after his death. Footage of Benoit is also shown in the Triple H: King of Kings - There Is Only One DVD, Batista: I Walk Alone DVD where he is shown in the 2005 Royal Rumble, Nature Boy Ric Flair: The Definitive Collection DVD, where he is briefly shown in a Four Horsemen segment, as well as "Viva La Raza: The Legacy of Eddie Guerrero" DVD, where he is shown in The Radicals entrance video, as well as during an Eddie/Benoit feud recap video. These make them the only four DVD documentaries that WWE has released since his death that acknowledged his time with the company. quote:3.) What are the odds WWE will ever release anthology sets for WCW/ECW pay per views? It's possible. They've already done the Essential Starrcade collection. ECW's PPV history was so spotty, though, that I really doubt that there's enough financial incentive to put together anthologies. Timby fucked around with this message at 01:51 on Feb 2, 2010 |

Why is Wrestlemania so far the only pay-per-view WWE is releasing on blu-ray if they went HD two years ago? 1) Royal Rumble 2010 is coming out on Blu-Ray next month at a $29.99 street price. 2) Not sure, someone else might know. EDIT: ^^^^^ 3) They put out a "Starrcade: The Essential Collection" set last year, pretty sure it was a 3-discer. Nothing in the way of anthology box sets, but consider that for the hassle of blurring the scratch logo on WWF 1998-2002 they'd have to overdub a lot of music in both WCW and ECW for their entire runs. I realize this is somewhat of a backtrack, but you all would be surprised just how much some of the "comedy" wrestlers can fight. Santino has a lot of MMA training and legit fighting skill, and so does Colt Cabana. It's just that Santino and Colt are charismatically funny, which is a lot more of a rare commodity than another brawler.

Rockhouse wasn't licensed, though. I think it was Jimmy Hart's? I don't know. If it were licensed, they wouldn't have replaced it with dogshit on the Wrestlemania DVDs.

With Miz & MVP facing each other at the Rumble and then each being in the actual Rumble match itself it got me thinking what other times has this happened? I know Piper won the IC title from The Mountie in 1992 and then entered the Rumble. I also recall Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, Boss Man and Ken Shamrock in 1999 being in single's title matches and then entering only because I was at that show which was probably the worst Royal Rumble ever. Has it happened any other times? Also when was the last time Raw got bumped for the Westminster Dog Show/Tennis/something else? And why did they do this in the first place when Raw is the longest running weekly episodic show in history!

I think Goldust and HHH both appeared in the '97 Rumble, after their match earlier in the night. Oftentimes they've had one guy go over in a match, only to have his opponent toss him in the Rumble later for some measure of revenge.
