I fell in love with hip-hop when I heard what people were doing with words, I remember being amazed that people could do that (i.e. 16 bars of 8 syllable rhyme schemes), and it's a lot easier for me to talk about how incredible it is that 'MC Y' or 'Producer X' did 'Thing Z' than the sociopolitical undertones of why it exists in the first place. I mean I never knew who started the MC thing, and I found it was DJ Kool Herc. I then learned about "breaks" and what the "break" contributed to hip hop (it's also where b-boys and b-girls comes from along with "break"dancing).

It's worth it just for Devin, Snoop, and 3 Stacks chopped not slopped on What A Job which is top 5 of the last decade for me

is anyone interested in the new Lil B mixtape that's droppin' in a few days? i can't wait now that i'm finally caught up with all his work. it's called Bitch Mob: Respect The Bitch Vol. 1. there's a bunch of tracks on youtube he's been posting up and it actually sounds really good. i'm a big fan of his though so i may just be biased, but it really sounds like he's taking on a completely different style for this album, and it's a full on project with a few other rappers he's good with. here's some links for you guys: "my life" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzyhttFpMlU "please respect" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFxyAzwzjUM&feature=related "loyalty" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6qfCPSk-uo the production hella reminds me of old school black market records stype stuff (mainly x-raided), and that's just nostalgia for me so i dig this poo poo a lot. a lot of people probably hate on this dude but just wonderin' who else is anticipating this, if anyone is at all ahaha.

Came across this very talented jazzy hip hop cover of Jay Z's 99 Problems by Aloe Blacc. He throws a bit of Kanye in at the beginning. Aloe used to rap. There was this song on his first solo album and he had a project called Emanon with Exile. Speaking of cool LA poo poo, Blu's released this track with a bunch of guests and Flying Lotus production last week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zp3f-wQc75Y

While this sounds easy enough, he's not exactly what I would call a true rap fan. He's completely submerged in top 40 stuff so I can't give him a lot of the better rap I have because I think it'll go unappreciated. All I can think of off the top of my head that'll satisfy him is a bunch of old Three 6 mixtapes or maybe Kendrick Lamar since he's current. Any ideas? Yeah, Gangland & Messiah were supposed to be released already. I'd really rather not know. He's one of the sad losses of potential in the rap game other than what albums Lauryn Hill and/or the Fugees could've put out. I really enjoyed Godfather Buried Alive and then by the time he comes out of jail for some reason his voice and style and everything are all total utter horror. I'm pretty sure they're delayed or something, because I see no signs of them being released. Going by how utterly bizarre and crap the supposed singles were, it's something better left buried for all concerned. I mean, for most rappers, even crappy weird ones like Lil B or Waka Flocka Flame, there are still people that consider themselves fans of their music even if they're just saying it ironically. I didn't see any signs of that with the new Shyne stuff, it's just so weird and crappy that people can't even pretend to like it. Too horrible to be played on the radio or be underground. The new Shyne stuff wasn't "so bad it's good" or "so bad you could pretend to like it for laughs" it was just...bad. At least the Yelawolf Shady debut seems to be proceeding well.
