I disagree that he hasn't been dope in a decade. He's definitely kind of hit or miss these days, but he's still had a bunch of good albums in the past decade as well (and some mediocre ones but with a few good songs on them):

A Tale of Two Andres
Conversation with a Devil
These R the Tales
Daiquiri Factory: Cocaine Raps, Vol. 2
Bullets, Blunts n ah Big Bankroll
Midnight Machine Gun Rhymes and Alibis
Horns and Halos
Gun-Mouth 4 Hire: Horns and Halos 2
Bullet Symphony: Horns and Halos 3
Khan! The Me Generation

Totally agree. I'm getting really anxious for more tracks from Gibbs, to see if he's still keeping his style and production. What I don't get is how he drew so much hunger and inspiration from being stuck in label hell over at Interscope, then went on to be a popular indie rapper, only to go back to a major label! Same thing with Slaughterhouse.

I'm pretty sure the idea is that instead of dealing with an A&R who's trying to sell the most records (which gangsta rap ain't gonna do in 2011), Gibbs can deal with Jeezy so the music comes first.

This is pretty drat good. I enjoy they that it still has good mastering/production despite being hardcore. Oftentimes I find rap in that genre to be just shittily thrown together.

I think there's a big difference between Gibbs and the Slaughterhouse dudes. Slaughterhouse were pretty much a bunch of dudes nobody ever cared about (and Royce, who a couple people cared about but got himself off the Em gravy train by running his mouth). Gibbs never got the push of any of those dudes.

I dunno, people definitely cared about Joe Budden. He was pretty big after Pump It Up, plus even after all of his label woes I've never seen so many people on the internet show love for such a relatively insignificant dude. This is semantics though and your point still stands.

All that really matters is that Freddie Gibbs owns and more people should listen to him

that's because there are no Joe Budden fans off of the internet. But you're right Joe Budden doesn't fit with the rest of Slaughterhouse: he actually had a major label debut and then got dropped from Def Jam. He didn't have "label woes" dude just sucks.

Anyone paying attention to Blackstar? Apparently Mos Def Yasiin got into it with LiveNation and both he and Talib pulled out of their remaining tour dates. They did a set on the Colbert Report last night that my friend somehow was able to book despite all the LiveNation drama and I guess that's the last live performance they'll be doing for awhile. Bummer. :(
