There's a cat food commercial going around right now that shows the cat eating their food and then being transported to a magical land of wonder and amazement. It's not bad, exactly, but all I can think when I watch it is that the catfood company laces their food with Kitty LSD.

Speaking of cat food commercials, I'm still confused by that one that tells a mini story about a couple getting engaged and married. Not so much because the premise of the commercial so much as the fact that the father of the bride is Bruce Boxleitner.

I similarly am confused why there is continuity in goldfish cracker commercials.

They stopped running it for a while and that was great, but now they're running it again and it's still terrible. I like this one better than the interview style commercial where they talk to a bunch a goons about how much they need video games

What the gently caress is up with Mio energy commercial with the creepy cgi anthropomorphic safari animal bros in the bar? I have no idea what they're talking about and if I didn't already know what Mio was, I would have no idea what the product is. And it's really bad cgi but that's the least of my issues with it.

Since I've seen a couple of radio ads dropped in here: if I can help it I will never, ever fill a prescription for Tamiflu ever. It starts with a man coughing, then hoarsely whispering for the entire commercial in a register that annoys me in a way I just can't describe. All I know is that as soon as my brain realizes the commercial's playing, my arm shoots forward almost involuntarily and hits a different radio preset.

You know that "Dreeeeaaaams. Dreams dreams dreams" song? I heard it in two commercials in a row last night. First was for Sleepys, then a Comcast ad came on next and it ran together perfectly to the point that I was confused for a second why the mattress ad had suddenly changed visual tones.

Is there a reason for the trend of fast food companies going hogwild advertising their fish sandwiches right now? Like is February/March National Fish Month? I find the Arbys commercial with the guy climbing on the boat looking for the "perfect catch" or whatever really annoying. I also hate their slogan: "It's good mood food". Anytime I'm pressed for time and decide to eat there, my mood is far from "good". I guess "It's gut-wrenching food" isn't a very good slogan.

I live in Mormon HQ (Salt Lake City) and even here during Lent the grocery stores advertise fish specials as Lenten.

Didn't it used to be like 2/$1.50 even just a few years ago. Now it's like 2/$4 if you're lucky and if you don't buy it during Lent the drat sandwich is like $4.29. Aren't they still using those cheap ugly fish? Is their price surging that much?

As a semi-practicing Catholic, this is one of the things that drives me nuts. Part of the no meat thing is because meat, back in the olden days, was a luxury item and cheap, plentiful fish were not. Now its all flipped around and seafood costs a fortune in the US.

A recent Best Buy commercial is bugging me. Two parents are talking to Best Buy Guy about how they just finished their first home movie. They play it and it's their little baby's first steps. Then this teenager appears and Best Buy Guy is shocked to discover that the baby is the teen and it has taken the parents this long to make the video. All well and good, except at some point some executive must have thought people wouldn't get it. So they added a title to the start of the video: "Tommy's First Steps 1997". Utterly ruins the punchline.
