Compiling all the official Capcom live demos of the E3 stuff: Leon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qdx3YdLNLY Jake: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIJpBNDJC_w Chris: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJgFmABrNjA Overall it seems the demos are pretty good about showing the tonal differences between the three campaigns alongside the general system of the game. Leon's is more old-school style RE while Chris's section seems to be lining up with RE5's "fight monsters all the time" schtick, which is what I was hoping for. It's really crazy that the game seems to be on the RE5 engine. It looks like it plays so smoothly in comparison to that and other RE4-style games. edit: For all ya'll RE5 haters here's what I think of your opinions!! Do we know if we can turn off the cross hair? I don't need two reticles for aiming. Other than that I am pretty excited for this drat game. Was able to get a code for the demo and cannot wait. Leon's demo stuff looked sweeeeeet!

Wait, did anyone post that preview that says RE6 has Demon's Souls style online multiplayer? You play through your level and if you meet up with another major character, say Chris in Leon's section, there's a chance they can be not just an NPC but controlled by other players. You can turn this on or off. Anyway, from those vids it looks like there's a Riddick style health system, a Metal Gear inventory, and they comp for the player being able to maneuver better by making enemies much faster. I'll have to use it first, but the MGS inventory seems to make a lot more sense than 5's d-pad menuing. timeandtide fucked around with this message at 03:55 on Jun 9, 2012 |

I wonder if, even if it's a bonus thing or a file you find, they will finally address what happened to Rebecca? The last STARS survivor to get any spotlight outside of Mercenaries. Also, what bets are we going to put on Ada for either a) dying but not really dying b) playing both sides against the middle and secretly working for another agency or c) both? I would bet $50 on option C given how she her character has been reworked since RE4

I love that the control scheme has evolve to match modern era but I still have mixed feelings on this game after watching the gameplay footage. I'm not even mad about the departure from the normal RE style considering I actually enjoyed RE5 but this game just looks like it might end up being a huge clusterfuck.

Man I hated the RE movies, there was nothing in them that really resembled the games to me, not to mention the directors wife and her mary sue insert. Then Capcom comes along and does more damage to the franchise than anything Paul Anderson could ever hope to do.

Apparently, there's a resident evil manga. (And I'm not talking about some weird doujin where everyone is a dickgirl). And I just bought it! Yay me. I think it might contain some more info about the plot of RE6. Reading it right now to tell you about it. edit: -There's an outbreak at an elite school somewhere in Asia. -There's a vaccine against the T virus, and it's called Daylight (wasn't that featured in Outbreak? I can't remember). Also the virus is transmitted by bites, but everyone knew about that. -Lickers are still a thing! yay -Piers Nievans is from the north american branch of the BSAA, and Chris is now the leader of the Alpha Team (the irony isn't lost on anyone) -New BSAA agent : Merah Biji, from the Far East branch. She is apparently the best from that branch, and of course, wears some sort of skintight combat suit. -Outbreaks are now almost common things, and Chris has been fighting them for several years. -The big spiders are still a thing! (they are maybe my favorite enemis in the whole series so I like this) -Hunters are also still a thing. -And so are Drain Deimos? (loved those dumb fuckers) -In true buddy movie fashion, Piers is the young, carefree optimist and Chris is the experimented veteran. Mangaupdate page It's not being translated so if you want to read it, either go with the japanese version or (like I did) the french version. Was that Ashley in the trailer? That voice sounded frighteningly familiar. Hopefully she'll get to wear the full suit of armour at some point, because screw protecting her all over again. Got to love the way that these bad-rear end military and secret service heroes have ever more stupid and floppy hipster haircuts. Oh, Resident Evil...

The Daylight vaccine was the focus of the last scenario in the first Outbreak, "Decisions, Decisions." If they're bringing that back, then I guess that answers the question of whether or not the Outbreak games are canon.

timeandtide posted:Resident Evil 6 E3 stage demo is up: http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/resident-evil-6-live-stage-demo-from-microsoft-conference At one point a guy jumps out of a helicopter to tell Leon to get in the helicopter and provide cover fire. Leon then dramatically jumps onto the helicopter as an explosion is shown. So what the gently caress happens to that guy? Why didn't he just provide cover from the helicopter? Makes no attempt to run away from impending fiery death? Hmmmm. Anyways, gameplay looks solid. Like the additions of sliding, dodging and rolling; I'm sure it will still be clunky, though. Definitely like the part where he slides into a table, knocking it over and creating cover; hopefully there will be a variety in set pieces that you the player can interact with. I'm interested to see what kinds of ridiculous DLC schemes we will see from this offering.

This always comes up, but you're wrong. Anderson and Jovovich actually met on set of RE1, and then he didn't direct any of the sequels until the 4th one, at which point the franchise was already proven. So it's not a case of "I'M GONNA PUT MY WIFE IN MY MOVIE!!!" Three Musketeers on the other hand is a total case of that. Also, the movies and games are very similar in that they've always both been really loving stupid B-Movie plots. It's just the earlier games went with B horror movies, and the movies just went out B action movies from the start, which is what all the games past 4 are anyway, so they're pretty much the same thign at this point.

Resident Evil 6 is shaping up to be a proper AAA game I see. Random explosions, cutscenes up the rear end, QTEs, bland level design, 5 inch corridors, gray concrete walls and generic orchestra music. 10 out of 10 editor's choice.
