Yea I can't figure it out either, but thanks to Samsung being relatively dire at promoting anything but the Galaxy S2/S3, I have no idea if anyone else is even going to stock them here. Then again, PB's price for the Galaxy S3 went up a month before Vodafone announced pricing and it's still the same so maybe that's the actual price they're running with.

I bought a refurb fire for $140 and a ipad 1 off ebay for $240 and ended up returning the fire. The ipad 1 was 10 times the tablet of the fire, I could not recommend staying away from the fire more after playing with an ipad 1.

I sort of make it a point to look around and see who has what tablets and make a mental note. I've very rarely seen a 10" Android tablet though.

I'm in DC and ride Metro all the time and I see lots of iPads, Kindle Fires, and an occasional Nook Color. I saw a Xoom once, but not on the Metro. I don't think I've ever seen any Samsungs, and there's one guy I've seen a couple times with a Playbook. And I have a friend who got a firesale Touchpad.

I can't tell what 7" tablets they are since they're usually in a case, could be Kindle Fire, Nook Color, Galaxy Tab, etc. Maybe because on a crowded train standing up the 7" is easier to hold? That's very odd. I see an overwhelmingly larger number of iPads. I'm going to start keeping track and writing it down.

I've seen all kinds of devices on the subway and the PATH. I even saw someone using one of those Dell Streak things, and someone with the Coby Kyros. Mostly though I see people reading a regular e-ink Kindle device or maybe a nook e-ink device, with occasional iPads.

Just found another complaint about the Kindle Fire: apparently it absolutely will not allow you to ever change the cover image of an e-book. I don't like how the cover of one of my books looks, so I set out to fix it today. Thirty minutes later, it's still not fixed and I'm tearing my hair out in frustration. I changed the cover in Calibre (and even converted it from mobi to mobi to make sure the change "stuck") but the Fire still only shows the original cover even though it's been deleted in Calibre. I even removed the book from the Kindle and resynced it but it still shows the old image. This is something that should be simple but would probably take a factory restore or jailbreak. I should be surprised but I'm not.

Also make sure the Kindle software on the Fire is up to date before you re-load the books.

I've only seen a tablet once in the wild. It was a guy at Walmart using his iPad 1 to grocery list with the Notes app. That was the one and only time. If the Google tablet is good, I'll probably be doing the same thing. Or playing Dungeon Raid and roaming the forums with tethering which is much more likely.

Excluding air travel, the grocery store is the #1 place in public that I see people using tablets. Which seems like a place that a phone would actually be better, but whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Where do you guys live, the middle of nowhere? I see at least 10-15 people using tablets on the train to work every day. Most of them iPads. Though I did see 1 Galaxy tab and a Playbook. I mainly use mine for Kindle books and Google Reader. Wish AT&T would hurry up and get LTE in Philly though Also I wish there were more than like 10 good (non-game) tablet apps. Is there any reason we can't use this thread as an Android Tablet app thread since it's android-specific now? Not like there's any amount to post about as to need their own thread

There's a 24hr coffee shop in the foot of my office building, with a university library across the street, a technical college down the block, and a film school within two blocks. So I see a lot of tablets is what I'm saying.

Either I'm really loving retarded or this Kindle desktop reader is the least intuitive program in the history of mankind. I can't even figure out how to add a book to it and there's nothing in the help file. This just makes me want to ditch my Kindle quicker. It's becoming an awful loving lot of work for something that should be simple and straightforward.

Around here it's either iPads or cheap chinese knockoff stuff sold under local russian brands for people who don't want an iPad for whatever reason. Those mostly run Android 2.3 with vendor-specific horrible skins on top. I'm yet to see at least one proper 10" android tablet in the wild, tons of them in the shops, but I guess not many people buy them.

I only see macbook pros and hilarious dell laptops. In fact I've really never seen anyone with a mac laptop that wasn't a pro. But I know more than a few people who bought the 17" macbook pro simply because they wanted a bigger screen so i think people don't even consider the old plastic macbooks/airs as real computers Living in civilized podunk countryville is pretty weird

That is weird, since I probably see 13" Macs most of all Macs (though that's split up among Pro, aluminum non-Pro, Air, and plastic), but probably see work-issued Dells more often than anything else.

Quick question for you ereader app users. Do any of these ereader apps have an autoscroll function? I've been using this because it's the only one that I've found with an autoscroll function. Everything else about the program is pretty terrible but autoscroll has spoiled me to the point where not having it is a deal breaker.

I've only seen old psp's in the hands of very very awkward and dirty looking teenagers and rarely playing games. I mean like, they're listening to music on their psp-1000 or browsing the internet. iPod touches literally go for $50 at this point. Jesus christ.

Mobi files automatically open in Kindle reader for me. If you have Calibre set up to just send the files over to the device there's a link on the side bar (when you have a book selected) that says "Path: Click to open."

CoPilot USA for offline GPS. Traffic Cam Viewer - in case I need to dodge Seattle area traffic. Thumb keyboard - since Swiftkey X for tablets blows, this is a drat good keyboard. DTMF - handy if you're in telecom, useless if not. Not work: 3D Earthquake - not all that useful, but pretty and fun. Chase app so I can see how little money I have. Screen Filter - dims the screen beyond the stock slider - useful for keeping the wife happy. Screebl Pro - keeps the screen on as long as I'm holding the tablet at an angle other than horizontal. Taptu, Distro and Currents - eMagazine apps Dolphin browser - sucks less than stock, has excellent plugin support for Lastpass and Xmarks and can run Flash, unlike Chrome. Jewellust, Angry Birds, GTAIII, Dead Space, World of Goo, Minecraft PE, Osmos and Netflix for time killing. EDIT: gotta add Shortyz for crossword puzzles when I'm feeling like an old man. Are there any Tegra 3 tabs that have an IR port out now or due out in the near future? I do a lot of electronic repair work on the side and sometimes I need an IR remote to access various settings/menus, etc. I'm looking to upgrade my tablet and it would be super if I could also retire the ancient PDA that I keep around for this purpose, too.
