Since one week ago, Chrome is completely hosed. It won't play any HTML5 video (it initiates but doesn't play, and seeking just shows a single image of the video).

Say, this for example: http://www.jplayer.org/video/webm/Big_Buck_Bunny_Trailer.webm

Won't play. Nor will any other HTML5 demo site, Dailymotion HTML5 or personal tests. Same goes for MP4 or other formats.

I haven't messed with any settings or flags - it just stopped working. Funny enough, it happened while I was working on a website with a lot of HTML5 video (with lots of transitions and trial and error to get seamless video transitions cross-platform). I didn't mess with anything though - it just stopped working everywhere.

I've uninstalled Chrome.
I've manually deleted everything, %appdata%, remove.reg
I've tried the latest beta, latest dev - nope !
Installed and tried Chromium - nope !
Updated graphic card drivers - nope !
Created a new Windows profile, removed every single application running in the background, installed latest Chrome - nope !

My next step is to try some old version from a few weeks ago, as Chrome possibly auto-updated and broke HTML5 video. What is weird is no-one else seems to have this problem on the internet. I'm going crazy.

As already noted, I do web dev and use Chrome all day at work, and work with HTML5 video on almost on my projects. I've already lost a day of work thinking the problem was with my dev / encoded files, and another day trying all of the above.

If anyone can help...

OK I just rolled back to Chrome 18, via oldversion.com, which is what I probably had a week or two ago. Hit the test video, worked perfectly straight away. What the gently caress !

So at least I know that it's Chrome 19+ that fucks up, but it's crazy that noone else is having this problem. I'd still like any help on fixing this as I'm not all that keen on sticking with an old version, especially since Chrome auto-updates.

I had some problems with HTML5 video a few weeks ago, nasty pink and green artifacts on any area of the video with motion. The issue is gone in version 20. maybe you could switch to the beta channel until the stable channel hits 20?

YOU RESENT?
Just started using Chrome full time last week, after I realised they finally fixed the functionality of the tab key for omnibox suggestions.

Today I've unexpectedly found that the settings page shows up as blank...

The page is simply blank and white, except for the links to History, Extensions, Settings and help in the top left.

I've disabled all the about:flag experiments I had enabled, and disabled all my extensions, but this makes no difference, the settings page is still blank.

Any way to fix this, or should I just file a bug report?

Edit: I eventually installed the beta, which has resolved the issue.

That happens to me when I run chrome in a windows virtual machine on my mac. I even changed my Google password and basically I never figured out a solution. It only ever happened to me in the situation, thankfully, so I could ignore it.

Looking for an extension / add-on, one which hides the mouse-over preview that occurs when you hover above a link. Are there any out there?

So I went looking for an extension that would make Google reader a bit more usable for me, initially I wanted an extension that would give me a proper compact mode to focus more on content but then I found "Google Reader Readable" https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/fdnglondfcmoiakaolanlglfchdhkdgc

Original Reader

With extension

Mouse over left to show subscriptions

Mouse over top to show menu

It's not perfect as you lose the ability to search and if you like list view using keyboard short cuts it's not really obvious what your selection is. However I've been using it for a couple of days and like it enough to spend a few mins to share it here.

Combined with "Super Full Feeds" I rarely have to open another tab. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/khbjahpecnkenngkidhioicnfpakihgo

I've been getting a ton of broken images on sites like Facebook and Amazon and also getting the "Oops, Chrome could not find such and such website" even when the website is up. Is this a common problem? It's only started happening to me recently.

I haven't changed any of my extensions and I did uninstall and reinstall.

To clarify, I want something to remove the little bit of text that appears when I mouse-over a link or image, like this-

Those are called 'tooltips', and to the best of my knowledge, there's not a way to disable them in Chrome. I've found a couple of threads with people asking for that option, but nothing from the Chrome devs.

I was bored, this extension should work, with caveats.

Removes tooltips (the title attribute) from images and links. Doesn't work for everything, like elements dynamically created on a page after the initial load.

I'm using the Diablo 3 health calculator daily (http://rubensayshi.github.com/d3-ehp-calculator/#intro) but it comes up with no saved characters every time I open it. It's getting annoying to type all of my stats in again and other sites I use seem to remember me and my settings just fine.

How the heck might I have messed up this one?

It might be flash- or ad-blocking or privacy type add-ons if you have any of that stuff installed.

I switched to Firefox since Chrome was being slow when accessing new pages (in a new domain, not another page in the same domain). Seems to be fixed now though. Is there anyway to stop the download bar from showing up on the bottom when I download files?

I asked this before but no one answered, is there some reason that Chrome logs me out of literally *everything* upon exit? I switched from Safari because video in safari was running like rear end for some reason. But it's a pain to have to log in to every site anytime I close the browser.

I disabled all addons, cookies are on etc...still nothing. Not in porn mode either.

This happens to me like once a week...but not every time I exit. No clue about why.

The only think I can think to suggest is to use a password manager like Lastpass to automatically log you in as soon as you visit a site. It's not a solution, but it should help ease the frustration in the meantime.

Have you tried deleting the whole folder that Google Chrome stores its settings and stuff in?

When poo poo like this happens to me I blow away the User Data folder and just let chrome sync everything back for me. It blows away my extension settings but I use Chrome for most of my web passwords so its not a big deal.

I'm having some issues with Flash and Chrome 19.0.1084.56. I just get a blank area when I go to Youtube and load a video. Here on the forums when a video is embedded I just get a black box.

Here are my settings:

Does anyone know what I might be able to do? I tried enabling/disabling various combinations with no luck.

I'm not sure about that specific issue, but it does remind me of a good tip for OSX users:

If you have multiple Flash entries in chrome://plugins, disable all but the one in the "/Applications/Google Chrome.app" path (which should be the most current). This will cut down heavily on Flash memory leaks and increase performance (especially when switching tabs while a Flash video is playing).

Does anyone know why Chrome would load pages so much slower than Firefox or even Internet Explorer? Things that load up instantly on Firefox take minutes on Chrome. I imagine it's some proxy/network setting in Chrome that's loving it up?

Have you got any experimental networking stuff enabled in chrome://flags/ ? Like pipelining, SPDY/3 or asynchronous DNS

Did that, it seems to have worked. Awesome!

Although I lost the theme I'd been using for a while and have no clue what it was called. A longshot, but it was like a black and white kinda minimalist outer space background...

No. For whatever reason, it fixed itself once I restarted Chrome and it did an update.

More often than not page loading issues are caused by an extension. At one point the noscript extension would cause pages to load very slowly for me in Chrome.

Google reader shortcut keys don't work in chrome. For instance, when I type 'j' to go to the next item, it starts searching the page for 'j' instead. How do I get this to work?

The only addon I am using is adblock plus.

Edit: nevermind, I had some other searching addon installed.

Edit: Wait, so ' to search links isn't a feature of chrome? God drat it.

How are people's sync experience? I have made bookmarks and tabs sync across debices, bit it only seems to have worked/pushed the first time I set it up. Now it doesn't sync.

I can see the open tabs on other devices, though.

90% perfect. The only trouble I ever have is occasionally when I uninstall an extension and it gets reinstalled because another device has it.
